Thank you for this video, Travis. I have been struggling with clutch controls at junctions, your video did help, I will try creeping forward methods in my next lesson. Cheers
Brilliant video... Im almost test ready, I can drive the car fine, but im struggling with following road sign direction and sat nav. I struggle with processing things quickly enough :( Really frustrating! my test is in March, hopefully I can work on this before then :(
I would focus on looking up road further, this will help you spot signs and speed changes sooner. Good luck with your progress and good luck on the test
travis, you are one of my top 3 driving instructors on youtube. I love how how clear and straight forward your explanations are. also, I love your handbrake technique. I have been avoiding it in my lessons but I will be using it a lot more now! Update: I passed my test! the handbreak saved me from getting a serious mistake by rolling back. my thumb hurts from using it so much haha. thank you for your help, travis!
Thankyou for this video Travis it's been just over 2 weeks since I passed my test and I'm still getting used to my car as the biting point is alot higher than my instructors car. Which has thrown me a bit as its a big difference due to the actual pedals on my car being higher up as well so it's taking me time to get used to it. As I'm also used to planting my heel on the floor to raise the clutch. Which I can't really do in my car with the pedals being higher up than I'm used to 🙄😂
Would you be able to do an advice vid on dealing with being a newly passed driver worrying about people behind you when you are driving at the correct speed.
Another great video 👍 just wondering is there anything wrong with when for example stopping at a roundabout holding your position by having the brake down and bringing the clutch to biting point and then going on the gas once you are ready to move? Hope that makes sense
Learn-to-drive Travis hi sorry another question just for my own clarification - to keep the car still are you doing so by applying a little bit of gas then lifting the clutch and holding it at the biting point?
hi Travis, I understand that at closed junctions you have to creep out. what about open T junctions with a stop line? is it okay to creep out a little after completely stopping? my instructor always makes me creep a little at a time as he says that it shows the tester that I am making progress otherwise the other cars won't let me pass. thanks
I found in the learner car you had to hold the clutch longer when pulling away then in my own petrol car. Is that right or is it just me? Also I feel more in control on 30 mile an hour roads in 3rd than 4th gear even though the shift indicator advises to up my gear.
Sounds like you are getting to know your car. Yes the computer will ask you to go up gear as you reach a certain speed. But staying in 3rd in a 30 zone is wise. You will find the clutch a lot different in a learner car, usually because they replace the clutch a lot.
The creep and peep I was taught. I have to say I don’t use my handbrake enough, I use it on hill starts and to stop me rolling back but that’s about all.
As someone currently learning, I didn’t know there was low and high parts of the bite point which you can use to control the speed at pulling away/creeping forward
Excellent content as always. Passed over a year ago but never stop learning.
I myself look at videos on driving and sometimes pick up tips that help me. Safe driving
I only passed in October And love these vids they keep me well alert

It will be a little harder to control the clutch pedal if you are used to planting your heel on the ground. But over time you will be ok. Safe driving
@@JamesTravis thankyou Travis I'm sure I will be 😊

If you are happy doing that way and you can pull away and not stall when trying to move off at speed, then it’s ok.
Learn-to-drive Travis ok thank you
Learn-to-drive Travis hi sorry another question just for my own clarification - to keep the car still are you doing so by applying a little bit of gas then lifting the clutch and holding it at the biting point?
snr36 yes. I am balancing both gas and clutch
Learn-to-drive Travis thanks again 👍
Is this a petrol car you are using?
Yes

Yes after a complete stop at the stop junction. Look to make progress by moving out when you think it’s safe to do so.
I found in the learner car you had to hold the clutch longer when pulling away then in my own petrol car. Is that right or is it just me? Also I feel more in control on 30 mile an hour roads in 3rd than 4th gear even though the shift indicator advises to up my gear.

Just came to a car wash not realizing I never had to creep forward, like during the blow dry part lol
That’s funny

I use my handbrake when I think its needed.
