Really nice updates, but one I really want is the ability to group automations as my list is getting unwieldy
I put multiple automations in the same automation object by using multiple triggers and trigger IDs. So for example, anything that has to do with kitchen lighting is all in the same automation and only the relevant section is run based on the trigger ID.
@@medivaloneNeat idea!
Nice. I have them grouped by area e.g. [Kitchen], [Bedroom], etc. which helps somewhat as I can easily scroll to the relevant area. I'd like to be able to minimize a grouping or have them minimised by default for that cleaner, more organised look
@@ManchesterTechGuy I personally use the search bar a lot. I have mine also named by room, so when I search for 'kitchen', automatically only the kitchen automations come on top.
My sidebar is also unwiedly. I'd love a sidebar folder to put lovelace's in.
Love the new service calls to "todo" lists. I created a node red flow that takes each item in my shopping list, sends it to chatGPT to sort by grocery department, and then writes the response back to the list. It also creates a redundant backup of the original list in case GPT decides to do something funny with it.
Would be cool to see this documented somewhere in the forums. I'm also using Chat GPT/Node Red for automating the messy stuff.
Great update and insights.
🙏🏻
@@EverythingSmartHome Can you make a video on how to connect and control Apple TV 4K Box to Home Assistant and use it as media control on Tablet.
I dig the new historical values feature!! Wish for more elaborate math helpers, and an easy way to combine multiple binary entities into one, like Binary Window is Open, Binary Window is Closed and Binary Window is Tilted.
We really need The Year of the Dashboard/Lovelace :)
Happy holidays Lewis! Thank you for all the videos you posted this year
Thanks for watching and the continued support, happy holidays! ☃️
Love your updates. I am using the new Thermostat card, but it is MASSIVE, is there a way to make it smaller?
Nice :)
Very cool updates with the to-do lists. Thanks for the update video Lewis! 😀
Appreciate it Jamie! 🙏🏻
What a great way to Wrap up the year ! thanks for the gift of all your videos , happy holidays !
Happy holidays to you too! 🙏🏻
This is a great end of the yesr with these updates! Thank you for these videos and thank you home assistant for making my life more easy and smart!
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
Just trying todo again. You say about getting notified when arriving to the shop, and I’m assuming getting notified at a time. Basically what I’m wanting to do is because you now can set date and times in the todo item, how do you get notified at the set time? Im currently using calendar to achieve all this, so I have a message which discovers the name of the calendar item so it doesn’t matter if i change the time, it just notifies me at whatever time i have set on the message or calendar event. How would i achieve this using todo instead of calendar?
Is there an auto update or an update all button?
sometimes i almost forget how default dashboard looks like since using mushroom-strategy addon, very nice thing
Haha indeed!
I like your accent, bro! Erea, Erea! 😂❤ Btw, i'm so glad i have chosen Home Assistant over Homey back in 2021, when i first started with a smart home. Home Assistant is a beast of software!
Is youre sgop for germany also?
I'm having problems with Google Assistant integration with HA after this update because of the new log in?
I had to revert to 2023.11.3 since the tile cards wont respond to any tap action (icon tap works fine). Maybe I haven't read in-depth the release notes so I may have missed something.
I am looking forward to the Ping option to setup in the UI and the new thermostat view. I am sure I will look into some of the other changes and updates but always nice to see the constant improvements. I always wait for your videos before diving in myself but I always wait for the .1 to drop before updating lol.
Appreciate it and that's certainly not a bad strategy at all!
The changes to the default dashboard and the history graph are welcome but the big thing I’m oh so wanting is a proper user interface for manipulating entity history. Especially energy sensors where I’ve got several issues that I could correct with a spreadsheet-like UI plus a load of history I’d love to import from a corrupted HA db. The current UI really prevents fixing this and I fear to dive into an undocumented database and risk SQL corruptions
New version looks promising - Best wishes for a happy Christmas to you Lewis and your family 👍
And to you too, have a great Christmas! 🌲🎁
I'd love a to-do list widget for the android app! That would awesome, an auto populating list on my screen
Cheers for the update video. This year certainly flew by quick
It for sure did, blinked and suddenly it's almost over!
I can not see long term statistics for shades
Nice.
Wish you luck on riding that unicorn mate!
🦄🕺
Hey Lewis. Happy Holidays man.
Happy holidays to you too!! 🙏🏻
hi,
what about HACS on 2023.12 ?
Same issue here
Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
With these realese at this moment cant install HACS
I'm not a fan of the new Home Assistant login screen. In my setup, where Home Assistant is behind a reverse proxy, all network traffic is recognized as 'internal.' This causes the new login screen to always display all user accounts, which I find to be a security concern. It would be great if there was an option to disable this feature for setups like mine.
You can configure NGINX to passthrough the real IP (assume you are using NGINX)
@@EverythingSmartHome Actually I'm using a kubernetes cluster with MetalLB and Caddyserver as ingress controller. The problem was that de Loadbalancer service had the default "cluster" value in 'externalTrafficPolicy'. Meaning the loadbalancer uses kube-proxy for traffic and that will obscure the source IP address. I had to change it to "Local" to bypass kube-proxy.
Agree with real IP change. Will allow you to turn on IP bans that way too.
@@thngzys I agree. It also showed me another security issue. My sister in law had an account only for internal network 🙂. But I still don’t like the new login page. My 1Password doesn’t recognize it (on mobile at least)
This need to be an option, end of story. I have a fair number of services, and none of them mistake local from public traffic. All are using the same reverse proxy but HASS alone shows the proxy IP, and it's leaking PII because of it.
Just noticed that you got a bambu lab 3d printer. How about making a video with some cool dashboard and maybe some automations ?🤷♂️
Sure if people are interested!
"I'm also hoping that this is just a first step into some big changes of making the default dashboard more useful"
On it. 😉
Hey nice, are you working on it?!
I still find very hard to organize my dashboard. I think they really need to retink an easy way of organizing all the entities. Mansonry layout is a huge mess. Maybe a drag and drop of entities in a responsive fixed grid! This update is a step up in dashboard decluttering but still need to make more. I really like the direction they're taking so far with ui
I don't think this is the last we will see of default dashboard improvements :)
Just updated my instance to find out it's not out yet 🤦♂️
Thanks for the video, hope it will get released soon 😅
You were too excited to update 😅
Lewis! Could you please do a video on the Telldus dumpster fire and maybe some alternatives for 443mhz controllers that work with home assistant?
When will we get Dashboard Strategy and drag and drop? Seems like a huge gap for a better new user experience.
Wonder why my thermostat doesn't have a Heat/Cool mode like yours does. My system obviously supports both modes, but not a single mode to cover both.
Are they both supported in one single climate entity?
New garage door integration....INTERESTING indeed :D
👀
Also the to do.!
Lewis. Could you make a video on how to make a zone/group with multiple zones and then a group of people. If a person from the group enter the zone group then send a notification.
The idea is to add my favorite supermarkets and then if my girlfriend or myself is entering then notify with the shopping list.
For long term statistics is this defaulted to all sensors?
I believe so yes!
Updated but my thermostat is still showing the old one?
Maybe need to refresh browser cache?
@@EverythingSmartHome nope.. turns out I'm a dummy and needed to await the core update 🤦
Any chance of chapters?
Esphome working faster is nice but it seems like every time I update esphome it breaks lol. I lost 1 bulb of 8 and a nfc reader out of 2 that got lost 4 updates ago.
The shopping list broke its use case for our house with the todo list update. My partner no longer can add things to the shopping list and it show up when I look at it. Frustrating when your sent to the grocery store on the way home and no list... We used it just for that. Oh well. Awesome while it lasted.
Issues may be with my set up. I just need to start over and have been putting it off. So many automations and gadgets to add. Will probably take me a day to get it all straightened out.
Does anybody know what the Home Assistant OS update entity is now named? It seems as though it has completely disappeared.
I don't believe it's changed?
Well, I guess we'll see you in the HA live stream first:P
😅
I'd really like to see a video about Todo lists automations use cases. Honestly the only one that came to mind is "send me the shopping list when I get to the shop" which, yeah, that's cool and all but I can just write the list on my phone's notepad app.
You could but then you can't have it automatically pop up when you get to the shop 👀
@@EverythingSmartHome As I wrote, it's cool but not exactly a selling point for me. I still feel that the Todo list function has great potential, but no other use case came to mind so far.
@@EverythingSmartHomeI'm relatively new to HA and having issues getting the list to pop up as a notification. I have zones, I have lists, I can get notifications in zones but can't figure out how to get the list in the notification. Waiting for someone to do a how to since it's too hard for me!
Interesting release, still no sort list feature but I think that could be implemented as a script now with some Jinja magic now that service responses are possible.
Backwards incompatible changes feels to me like something that upgrades in a way that rolling back to previous release would break it. Not sure why they chose this weird name when it looks like the industry is standardized on breaking change because it's a change that breaks something... This weird action sort of reminds me of Nabu Casas stubborn 'nope' attitude towards implementing proper oauth idp support.
Anyway, happy holidays Lewis
Home Assistant is evolving so fast, I can't keep up learning all the new stuff. 😅
It definitely moves fast, I love it 😁
Great @MKBHD shirt!
🙏🏻
Please make a video showing how to easily move to a new system with Unraid docker, I'm a noob and have been sitting at this for a month now
Blueprint update insane
🙌
I know what you did.
👀
He keeps saying 2022.12.
First
🍪
hopefully this "year of the voice" stuff is finally over. if i wanted to communicate trough speech i could have also talked to people
Phenomenally L take.
With the new long term history is it still necassary to have "auto purge 30 days" in my configuration?
Depends what you had it there for in the first place? 😅
