The problem with Micra wheels is the centre bore size. They are pcd 4x100 which is, or used to be, really common. Toyota, Honda, Vw, Vauxhall and Citroen and many more manufacturers have used them. But the Micra's centre bore is 60.1mm, which is larger than most manufacturers used in 4x100s. So although a Toyota wheel will bolt up, it wont sit flat because the centre of the hub will hit the flat of the alloy. You can grind them to fit, but it takes ages and potentially ruins the wheel. I had a k11 decades ago with a set of Nova three spokes on it. It took me several days with a die grinder to get them to fit. Looked pretty stupid afterwards too 🤣 wheelfitment eu is a good site for checking what wheels will fit. Your best bet is to try and find Nissan or Renault wheels because they should have the right centre bore. But there's an added issue as some Nissans, like Primeras, are 4x113.4. Or aftermarket wheels as they often heavily over size the centre bores.
Yeah this is the problem man ! It's the centre bore 4x100 is the easiest pcd to find but CB are few and far between. So I'm really struggling to find some at an affordable price. Thanks for watching and commenting as always !
Breaking the bottom off of the shocks looks like a bear! It always looks easier when you see someone with a full workshop of tools. I was surprised how much difference those 35mm makes to the stance. Good job 👏
Did you install the panhard rod. When you lower the car the panhard tries to push the axle too far to the right, you need to put the adjustable one on to correct it, or the rear end could get very flighty
I didn't put it on currently as the car is yet to be road legal , do you reckon it's essential then ? As from doing some research on the forums it seems to only be needed when going lower ?
I think it's pretty important if you've lowered the car. 35mm lower will push the axle 8 or 10mm to the right, which doesn't sound like much, but it puts all the other angles out of whack. Not worth the risk if you have the adjustable rod sitting there. All you need to do is fit it. Get it sitting on a nice level bit of ground, and then measure from the arches to the tyre. Or from the chassis rail to the tyre should be more accurate. Then adjust the rod until they are even. That should get it pretty much to where it needs to be, although obviously not as accurately as a laser alignment would. Make sure you bounce the car a few times if you've just had it jacked up though. So the suspension can settle.
Got two of these little beauties, a 2002 and a 1999, both in amazing condition, had them undersealed last summer, springs ordered and raring to go! Great video mate and it looks so much better.
Looks good to me! Have only driven the gen Micra after yours and I remember it feeling high and mushy, so this helps with that. That wheels search, Lord, help Matt find some!
Another spanner monkey hack for you buddy, with these old cars, always worth a good soaking of WD40 and left for 20 mins, go for a brew, and when you come back, should be a little easier on you and your back 🤙🏻👊🏻

Isn't Micra like 59.1mm? Still an unusual bore size, so everything else you said is true.
@@konrad8509 Yeah, I was looking at the wrong year aparantely. The later ones are 60.1 but a k11 is 59.1.

old friend of mine had Audi 80 14" alloys on his micra. fit perfectly to the stock hubs, looked pretty damn good. would recommend
Good effort mate, the difference looks massive with the trims on and the drop! Love the series, interesting and fun. 😊

Exactly man I have a Halfords tool set and nothing else, I recently invested in a torque wrench and gun which has made it a bit easier now !
Nice one Matt. I have a neighbour who has their K11 parked in their driveway since 2018! I need to put a note through their letterbox

Thanks for the tip! I did soak them the night before but I doubt they were ever touched before 😂
@MattsMotors15 oh yea, most prob not 😜, the other good thing you could try is the heat method with a propane/butane torch.
Why am I this invested in such a terrible car 🤣
Micra ain’t a terrible car
The old small Nissans have soul.
I'm in the same boat as you ! I spend day and night looking for cool parts for it 😂😭
