Corvette should: 1. Have their own colors and 2. Buyers should have the option to choose their own unique colors as well.

We need a rich “Blurple”.
Corvette needs a bright green and the "dodge purple", like color. I bought the Amplify Orange on my C8, because it was bright and I like orange, I saw it on a GM truck .. these colors dont fit trucks suv's etc. , they fit flashy sports cars.. why they offer half the colors they do is beyond me. And yes $5k or even more to paint it any color you want, yes please.
I agree that Amplify Orange doesn't suit a truck well because it's a pure non-metallic color - but my 2009 Inferno Orange Avalanche LTZ looks pretty BITCHIN'! Inferno Orange is a deeper redder orange, and it was also on the Vettes of that era for a couple of years. I have an old photo of my Avy parked nose to nose with a C6 of the same color in a Lowes parking lot, and it's pretty cool!
Exclusive colors for C8 adds to the pride of ownership and bragging rights! Special means special...

I would definitely pay $3-5k to build my own color for my 2025 corvette. Come on GM give us what we want since the car is definitely not getting a body change anytime soon

The color tech on the Corvette team needs to be fired ASAP. Just look at the Lambo color palette, its not that hard. Give us exotic colors that pop........That's not a purple 🤷☹️
To be honest, I love alot of Chevy vehicles but I don't want to pull up to a traffic light in my $92,000 Stingray with a Blazer of the same color next to me.

Agree with everything you said. I’ve always thought there were too many color options within the same hue and for sure need some brighter, exotic type colors. Bring back Sebring Orange. The current Orange is too washed out looking.
Agreed! My 2022 C8 is Amplify Orange, but I liked the Sebring Orange on the '20 and '21 models better, and it is metallic whereas AO is a pure color. It's pretty, but it does look a bit washed out in the sun. I would prefer a richer orange like Sebring.
Take that light turquoise you showed at the end of the video and darken and intensify the color, that would be a winner. 😎

GM we need some exotic colors, look at McLaren, Lamborghini, they use some serious bold colors
10:03 THAT'S the purple I would buy in a heartbeat! It's GORGEOUS and I absolutely LOVE that! The other purples in the video are not what I would want. If GM came out with a GOOD purple like that - a rich mid-range "Lambo purple" that really looks PURPLE, and not some pale-looking lavender or yet another washed-out color with just a hint of purple overtones - I would put one on order TODAY. A screaming, eye-burning chartreuse would be great, too!
My 2022 C8 HTC is Amplify Orange and I love it. My 2009 Avalanche is Inferno Orange and my 2012 CVO Street Glide is "Hot Citrus" - both VERY bright oranges, as well.
Amplify Orange and Accelerate Yellow are the ONLY two colors currently in the C8 color palette that I would buy. I wish they still offered the beautiful metallic C8 Sebring Orange that was available in 2020 and 2021. Torch Red is good, but I'm not a red lover. Red Mist is pretty too, but it's too dark and too conservative for me. There are far too many boring "shades of gray" in the C8 palette. And what were they thinking with Cacti? Hopefully that will be a one-year color... it sets a new standard of YAWN. Vettes should be BRIGHT and eye-catching, not some lame monochromatic shade of gray. It's time for COLOR to come back to the automotive world in general... we've had to live for far too long without it.
I agree that the Z06 and especially the ZR1 or Zora should have their OWN colors, to set them apart from everything else. And, I would pay $5K to have my own custom color from the factory, so my Vette would be unique in all the world!
I agree with you. McLaren has about 250 colors to chose from. They include spectacular purples, greens and oranges. They are not afraid of offending some old ladies somewhere....Cacti? Who approved that? It would be just perfect on an equivalent of the little T-Bird that Ford dropped years ago. It is pastel, I don't think of pastel when I think of a Z06 or ZR1. Torch red...nice but even Ferrari changes its red and not always hits a home run but you have choices. Torch red is a bit off in bright sun to me. Polo red that was used by VW and Lamborghini was a great red. The best red is "blue blood red". Even the Red Mist is not as good as the Mazda Soul Red Crystal Metallic candy red option which is spectacular and bright. I liked the Daytona Sunrise Orange that was available in the C7s...maybe it cost GM an extra $3 per gallon. I say the same about the C7 metallic grey. Its as if the engineers who create a true exotic drive train are at odds with other departments to create an advanced exotic car in all aspects. Ford got people to pay half a million $ for a car and charge $30,000 for paint to sample plus pick and chose who they sell to. GM should be able to break out of their shell a bit more.
@@polystictus ABSOLUTELY! I agree with your statement that the best red is "blue blood red". I think the problem is that the small Corvette team is part of the much larger Chevrolet, which is part of the gigantic GM behemoth. As such, the Corvette team has to operate within Chevy/GM, and I don't think they hold that much sway in choosing what colors they will offer. Cacti, awful as it is, has appeared on other GM cars, and it somehow got put in the Corvette color lineup.
GM in general does a pretty AWFUL job with paint colors... there are very few really good colors anymore, and their color palette is far too dominated by a bunch of very BORING monochromatic shades of gray (including black and white, which are really just very light and very dark shades of gray), and a slew of nondescript washed-out looking pastels.
And you're right... the GM color team does indeed seem to be afraid of offending little old ladies... but honestly, old MEN can be even WORSE about colors. GM needs to FIRE their entire color team and hire some people who can actually perceive colors other than grays and pastels.

I would consider that color if it was the RIGHT acid lime green! My wife had a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 in Candy Lime Green and it looked awesome!

You are also right on several different shades of a color...THAT'S WACK...they need to lose that‼️ It is overdone. What scares me is the Stardust Metallic on the Traverse, is eerily reminding me of that HIDEOUS UGLY coffee bean color that was discontinued on the C8 already!! 🤦🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️🙆🏽♀️ What is going on here???

Corvette needs to be borrowing color ideas from McLaren. Charge more than $995 but less than $5000. I like the paint to sample idea but maybe that could be saved for Corvettes other than Stingrays.

Mike, I would ABSOLUTELY order my C8ZR1 in the purple you showed at the end of this video. And I am totally in favor of the Z06 and ZR1 having extra colors that are more exotic and exclusive to those models. I have already paid twice to get the higher model (3LT and 3LZ) for the twilight/tension interior in both my Stingray and Z06. If GM isn’t going to give us paint to sample, why not just give us a credit and sell it with no paint and let us get it done ourselves? Then you would really see some exotic/custom paint jobs! So many guys already know they are going to swap their wheels immediately and get the cheapest wheels GM sells because the aftermarket options are infinite. Same premise. I like your ideas but I believe that GM can't be bothered. Too confusing for them, too far from "normal". Nevermind that the other manufacturers of exotics will do custom for a price, it seems too complicated for GM/Corvette. I looked into red stitching on a natural color interior but nope, that can't be done. So what that you can get it with black...not natural..."we don't care that Ferrari routinely does it". What throws me is that you can get any color seat belt with any color interior. If GM wants to compete with the big boys in the Supercar market, then they should start opening their minds to how they do it.
@@polystictus I agree with you, and I have thought for a number of years that Corvette should be its own brand. I remember taking my new C7 Z06 into the Chevrolet/Cadillac dealership for the 500 mile break in oil change. The sticker on mine was $96.8K but I didn’t pay that much. There was a “Chevrolet” waiting room with plastic chairs and a pay vending machine for coffee. Then, there was a much more plush Cadillac waiting room for people who bought the $50K automobiles that had Lazy Boys, free shoe shines, and free gourmet coffees. And I don’t need all of the fancy stuff. The point is that until GM gets its head in a different place and does differently, the Corvette is nothing more than a Chevrolet. To them and to everyone else.

Agree on the colors needing to be more and less. More vibrant and less of the same shades. Not a purple fan but can agree it should be available to others. They should always have a red, yellow, blue, green, orange, black, white, silver. But most of the cars in the US are white, black, grey or silver so anything that bucks those trends I am for 100%. I would love to see a dark teal, a deep burgundy, and a dark green.

GM needs to look at Lambos. They have a wonderful color plate. I don’t want to limit the interior color to a trim level. GM won’t give you a custom color. They just don’t have the desire. The C8 has taken Corvette into a new world that GM has never been to before. They just don’t know how to handle this new world. I think over time they will get better but it will be slow to happen
By the time they (might) wake up...the Zora could be gone and we will be in a world of plug ins....

Yeah, truck prices have just gone through the ROOF. It's gotten ridiculous! I don't get it, and there's no way I would EVER pay the sky-high prices they are demanding for new Silverados or F-150s these days. And it's funny how many guys want those gigantic vehicles but never use them to actually do truck things like... you know... hauling stuff around!

Paint to sample…absolutely yes…or just give us the option to choose historical Corvette colors. Black Rose Metallic needs to come back. The purples that you showed on the SUVs were garbage. I’m not so inclined to say that exclusive models needs special paint options for a couple of reasons, mostly because you’re gonna end up with a ton or wraps that try to copycat the big dog colors.
I think corvette needs to build out its allocations to dealers and have a special program for customer order cars that is REQUIRED to process through your local dealership at MSRP! Whether the customer chooses to take delivery at the factory or their local dealership shouldn’t make any difference on the price. Dealers can have 2LT/2LZ and below cars for stock, but once you start talking about spending +$150k, there needs to be something (like paint to sample! Or custom interior finishes) that can help Corvette owners personalize their cars.

We need Mopar style high impact colors on corvettes and stop with the old lady colors like brown that makes the car depreciate 50% the second it leaves the car lot. I don't understand why GM has always been afraid of bright colors. AMC had Big Bad colors, Ford had grabber colors, Mopar had all the best high impact colors, and GM to this day was NEVER known for any cool colors. I always buy yellow, orange, and purple corvettes. I really want a lime green corvette that is insanely bright and obnoxious or something like a furious fuchsia Mopar but even more crazy. How hard it is to develop a color? They came up with brown and sold like 300 cars so any color would do more than that.

The only exotic color right now is Accelerate Yellow and most people don't like it. They want to go back to the old boring yellow. I would pay $5000 more a personal color instead of more stupid electronics. However I just don't see it happening.

Purple, neon green, or any unique color will be another 1% loss option for the Corvette. We have come a long way from Henry Ford's - you can have any color you want as long as it is black. GM is not Porsche when it comes to colors. Porsche is a small unique car builder for a unique car market, while GM builds a limited production luxury sports car at a significantly less price for a mostly U.S. market. The GM bean counters would never let the Corvette team offer a paint to order option for fear that the return on investment would be too small/unknown to justify. At best, we hopefully could get unique color(s) for a year or two before the rest of GM gets it. Additionally, would you rather have a unique color or two, or more performance in the form of a ZR1 or Zora?
I'm afraid that you are correct. But I say that the existence of ZR1 and Zora is contrary to bean counter mentality. If you have a relative handful of cars that are not bean counter friendly, make them they way they should be then go back to bean counting when those exotics are gone and everything is plug in and complying with the ruling environmentalists.
Sadly, you are spot on. GM, like all other large corporations, is run by a bunch of MBA-toting bean counters who only care about profit margin, not serving a specific small and rabid customer base. Corvettes are nearly a rounding error when you roll the total numbers up to the GM level.

I don’t think you’re going to see a special color until the Zora. GM has always used the same colors with different names throughout their makes and models. Too much time involved to paint special colors.

They should have awakened for the Z06...and certainly for the ZR1...what makes you think they will come to their senses for the Zora? Why can't I have red stitching on a natural color interior?
Don't want to hear about new colors ... i want better performance. Better suspension, better transmission, better tires , less weight, more low end torque, more rpms , MORE HP !!!
