Saw my first Warbonnet that said "Santa Fe" on the longhood

The fact that warbonnets still exist almost 30 years after the BN-ATSF merger is amazing.

For real! I wonder how much longer they’re gunna be around.

@@Southern_Plains_Railfan They better be around for a long time. It shows BNSF's history before the merger. P.S. The warbonnets sound the best with the old ge steel bell and an rs3l

It just goes to show that BNSF still cares about its history and the railfans. That is one of the reasons I love BNSF.

6:38 6:44 Maybe they’ll have a similar story to the BNSF Warbonnets, where they’ll wear a Southern Belle paint scheme, but sey Canadian Pacific Kansas City instead of Kansas City Southern.

the desert and the plains are the best railfanspots. there's also random boxcars hangin' around. When i went through AZ, i saw a bunch of SF boxcars so maybe they were selling them out.
Great shot of the tiny looking train. never seen so many flat cars together. And the BN hoppers were cool

awesome vid sir, thanks. Right before you commented on the tank train I was thinking, "hey, there isn't a buffer gondola, what's with that?" We get lots of BNSF unit oil up here (Scenic and Bellingham subs) and they all have buffer cars. Love that ancient ice box reefer.

Really neat video. I do most of my railfanning in Wisconsin, which has it’s own scenery, but you cant beat the classic sight of a freight train in the distance with southwestern scenery in the background. It’s almost magical. Well done!

Thank you! Yeah, nothing goes together quite like trains and southwestern scenery.

Great Topic because it’s something that most Railfans aren’t too familiar with. Railroads have to get as Efficient as possible to make Deadlines & Big $’s. 👍

The Super Chief never used the route through Oklahoma, they went from New Mexico into Colorado into Kansas.

@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Their passenger trains fallowed the Santa Fe's original mainline, the same route that was used by the Chiefs before them, and the Southwest Chief todays.

6:31 There are 2 KCS Dash 9s that have just been painted into full yellow saying "MW900" And "MW901" where the numbers are, I think that's what's going to happen to them, or they might be double patched or painted into CPKCs new scheme.
