The amount of fallen flag 86ft boxcars was pure amazement, usually on the Union Pacific Austin Sub you’ll see the occasional Southern, Conrail, UP, Autopart Boxcars.

For sure! It was even better to watch them in real life, they just kept coming and coming.

Nice video . Regarding the single loco up front, I believe train brakes work not by applying air pressure from the loco , but by releasing air pressure in the system, thereby causing the already charged cylinders in each car to apply the brakes using the triple valve simultaneously .The system is charged up and brakes checked before the train moves off .

Thank you! Ah, ok, thanks for letting me know! I don’t know much about locomotive air brakes.

Always amazes me that you are able to put out this length and quality content in such a short time 1 or more times a week. Keep up the good work, dude.

Thanks! That's really cool! Does the road-railer still come though there? I saw it several months ago but the last time I railfanned Jacksonville it didn't show up.

You're welcome! I don't know why Jacksonville isn't more well known, it's a pretty neat place.

Hope you had fun! I'd love to see you visit more Central Illinois locations. Most Illinois railfanning videos are either Chicago based or transcon.

Don't forget Kcs has a spur running into Jacksonville as well.

Yeah, I didn’t mention it because I didn’t railfan there, since the switching done by the KCS local is inaccessible.

I’ve never seen so many falling flags. Great video. i’ve never even heard of the rail company southern, at first I thought the local freight engine was a high hood too

Yeah, there sure was a lot of them. Thank you! Southern is the company that merged with Norfolk and Western to create todays Norfolk Southern in the early 80’s I believe.

Back in the Day we had both Grand Trunk Railroad and Grand Funk Railroad. Both were Great and both are still a Pleasure to See and Hear. R.I.P. Fallen Flags. 👍🙏

Great video, thanks! I visited Jacksonville, IL three weeks ago and the diamond has been renewed. However, I could still hear it from my bed at my friends' house two miles away through the closed window. 😅

There is going to be a Day of Reckoning for the Class I Railroads. There is Entirely Too Much Maintenance Delayed and you can See by the Increase in Derailments.👎
