Always a pleasure to get knowledge from you Dan. Ive been using DE for years and this stuff is AWESOME. Everything he said so far about DE has been correct. Picked up a 55lb bag from my local farming feed store.
Thank you for sharing!
This is my absolute favorite gardening channel. You are always so full of knowledge, sagely wisdom, and positivity - it's infectious!
Thank you for all the hard work and effort you put into these videos, to helps us all out. 😃
Thank you Dan. Been using it for years but always afraid to use in garden because I don't want to harm the earthworms. Really appreciate the clarification.
This man is absolutely awesome with his delivery and information! Thank you!
Kills spiders too. We have brown recluse spiders and I've got this stuff in every corner of the house. I don't see the spiders any more.
Did you use the dry dust? Along your baseboards?
Did u leave as a powder or mixed it and wet baseboards etc?
Thank you, this is my first year with veggie garden, started it in my greenhouse and the fungus nats got bad quick. Trying DE today
Thank you so so much! I always wondered what DE is in if it’s safe where it came from etc. this was a very comprehensive video and I appreciate it so much thank you very very much have a great day
Thank you so much! Answered my questions perfectly!
Thank you Dan. Very much needed information because I just ordered a pound of d.e. With duster. Coincidence? Yeah, probably 😃
Thank You Dan for the follow up and breakdown.
Great clarification video on this product! I've been searching about it to control the unwanted pests we have in our garden, in addition to neem oil every now and then as needed. All my hard work needs protection lol. Thanks again!! Happy gardening!
Thank you Dan. I really enjoyed the info.
Great info. Ordered some yesterday. Thanks
I purchased the duster with your link yesterday, I can't wait to try it out, I'm having a terrible time with ants farming aphids on one artichoke plant and I noticed today red spider mites have infected the other artichoke. Other than the pests the plants are growing great and are loaded with aritchokes.
So thorough. May I use this in combination with other products like neem oil and horticultural soap?
Excellent information, thanks! Do you think this would be effective against termites?
Appreciate this so much. I’ve got the d.e. But was unsure how to safely use.
Appreciate this share and all the others. Will it also help with greedy caterpillars?
Problem I have is that it takes out beneficial insects also.
Such a wonderful, helpful video. Thank you.
I just started my first garden and I have Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth here, and I figured it would be safe since you can consume it, but wanted to just make sure it would be okay first.
Confirmed 3 mins 45 ish
I found your video on a Safer Diatomaceous Earth post, and it has this video using the Safer DE which is NOT food grade! I was fixing to put that on my dog and I decided to research it. I'm so glad I did. I don't think you meant to be representing the Safer brand as food grade. I'm adding the link so you can look at it. Thanks!
Can the Safer Home brand be used in a food garden?
Thanks for the info, I am one of those sensitive people and have essentially let grasshoppers eat all of my hibiscus, because I was worried about the Mantis and Assassin bugs also on my Hibiscus trying to eat the grasshoppers. Unfortunately they are not doing a good enough job. Any ideas what I can apply to keep grasshoppers off them in first place?
I like that you even mentioned people who care about the fact “pest control” is taking the lives from those little bugs (as insignificant as some people think their lives are- it’s their only life....) I have a inner conflict dealing with these things too. I have just recently trained myself that if I see a fast moving spider in my house to kill it right away without thinking. I still feel bad but I’ve learned too many times that if I walk away to get a cup it will be gone and then I won’t be able to sleep. I’ll catch and release most any other living intruder that I can tho.
Subscribed!
Yeah, mother nature is a real bitch.
Dan what do you use in the garden soil to kill grub warms, I bought a load of compost and it's full of the grub's
Food grade is good for people too
Thank you. Very informative talk.
how about chiggers? application - saw another video where the powder is mixed with water and sprayed on the plants.
It worked well for a while on Roly Poly bugs, but now I am seeing lots of baby ones.
How often do you need to apply it? And does it harm praying mantises?
When you drink it what does it do for you when you put it in this smoothie
Thank you!
What is the best liquid to mix with?
Excellent
How often does it need to be applied inside and outside the home; and does it need to be re-applied after it rains?
Thank you so much .
Does it take care of blister beetles?
Hey people we know using things that repel insects has unexpected or unintended consequences. There are insects even pests that are needed. Birds and spiders need to eat too. Just go easy and sparingly. Neem and Epsom salt are great natural products.
If it doesn't work when it's wet, then how does it kill internal parasites ? or does it ?
That's what I want to know as well
It cuts them but doesn't dehydrate parasites, which is what it does to bugs with exoskeletons
He mentions that at 2:10. When it dries out, it is effective.
How long does this take to work?
Hey, thanks for the information brother.
I do have one question; is diatomaceous earth effective on fly maggots? I have plenty on the bases of my cherry tomato plants, which are planted in raised garden beds. I noticed these pests about two weeks after I scratched in "all purpose granular fertilizer" and many flies began to hang out around the area.
Kind regards
Please answer.. I'd like to know as well
How long does ot take to kill the fleas outside and inside
yessssss thank you so much!
Supposed to kill worms too at night. Duh gardening… might study that more cuz I love having worms in the soil!
how about chiggers, I have a pet turtle in the back yard and chiggers are a problem
Can you use it for powdery mildew on zucchini plants?
No
How does it work on intestinal parasites if there is moisture.
Many farmers use it to work their animals and people can use the de as well. It has benefits and would eliminate any parasites in people as well.
Thank you
Cheers!
Is it effective on Japanese Beetles?
Is it effective for wire worms
well done
Good upload
Other than DE what about another substance like baking soda, borax etc...
It just doesn't work the same. DE is very safe. I don't even cover my face when I apply it to corners and baseboards.
Will it kill vine borers and squash bugs?
Great question!!
Would it dry out the skin of your pets?
This stuff sounds great. I cant wait to dust all around my house inside and out, all the plans and my cat. I'm especially happy to hear it is helpful against my arch nemesis - Whitefly
I need a duster, were can I get one?
Amazon
I dont have heart for bugs eating my plants.
It's under is Safer Diatomaceous earth safe for cats?
WOW Dan

I have an abundance of ground bees! Wondering if I should use d.e.
How effective is it on Pantry moths?
I just had a horric battle with meal moths. It took a month maybe month and a half but I won the war. What worked for me is ziplocking or vaccum sealing every type of grain. Emptied cabinets sprayed it down with vinegar. Put ceder blocks in them, still had them.. ordered cedarcide, I had this feeling they were behind the cabinets on my walls. As soon as it got here , I cleared the cabinets again and sprayed the cedar side from the top of where cabinets touch the wall and let it run down behind each cabinets. It worked! If I had to do it again. I'd spray inside the cabinets with it straight off and where they attach to the walls. It's smelly but not bad and fades soon. I still have most of my kitchen stuff in totes in my living room. No sign of them and it's been almost two months , now to start putting the kitchen back together. :)
moth traps from home depot, get an essential oil diffuser and use lavender, or eucalyptus.
What about the microbes on the leaves that protect the plant from predator microbes and make the leave unappealing to pests insects? I know they form a film over their bodies to protect them but wouldn’t DE break that down and kill the microbes?
Send them on to the next life. I feel like pests are born pests with the peskyness instilled to live quick lives for a reason. So help them onto the next. You are doing them a favor.
I’d apply it wet to dogs and cats and as soon as it’s dry wash it off with water
It only works on fleas etc if it's dry. I do think making a spray and spraying it on the animals and letting it dry is a great idea, less worries about the animals inhaling the powder but if you don't leave it on after it dries , I doubt you would make a dent in fleas.
@@lorilockwood4323 it works fine once it's dry. However, you don't need to go to all that trouble. Just get a small handful of the stuff and rub it into their belly hairs. That's it.
Effective for roaches in basement? Cat safe?
Instructions on how to use
So does it kill. Parasites in dogs
Prevent ants 🐜 mint works great 👍, prevent slug 🐌 dry coffee ☕️ ground works great 👍, prevent masquitos lavender works great 👍. For masquitos just simply put a lavender leaves or flowers on the chest pocket, they don’t bite you anymore. If they still do, then your body heat might be too high.
For indoor flies, to be honest, I never have that problems because I collect my urine indoor to fertilize my garden and plants 🌱 love it, and guess what, those indoor flies love my pee as well they fly into it to drown themselves, no idea why but it works, I fertilize with my urine in a daily basis so there’s no smell problems at all.
Any suggestions for pantry moths?
Trying the urine
Fire ant will make a nest in your mint.
It will kill bee's i would use it outside..we need bee's
It harms ALL insects so please don’t overuse this
I draw the line at squirrels. I asked for a super soaker for christmas one year to shoot them.
