Thanks Meg, i bought a Yamaha CS40 with nylon strings after hearing your review from your Northampton store, for my 9 year old daughter to start learning on, and she loves it.
Great sound, and easy to play, so much softer on her fingers than the metal strings like i have on my mini jumbo, or my Martin LX1e.
i didn't want to put her off learning, and she is really getting to grips with it
thanks to both you and Jay for the in store advice

I'm an adult with big hands and I love my Hohner HW 03. Bought it almost 20 years ago. You may have noticed that a lot of pro's play halfway up the neck a lot of the time.

Nice job Meg! They all sounded good…but the Baby Taylor and Faith Mini were a cut above in sound. It’s amazing how the overall quality of guitars has risen.

A few days ago I found second hand for only 63€ a very nice Yamaha CGS102A. 1/2 all laminate guitar. Of course it doesn't have the full sound and the resonance of a big all massive guitar, but it has nevertheless a very nice and beautiful sound (I tune it in F with Savarez Alliance Corum HT strings) I think this is a perfect kid's guitar, and also one of the best travel guitar for adults, if you change the head nut! 🙂 (the 48mm neck allow you to do that)

i have a bt1e and the yamaha apx. Both are great the yamaha is smaller and doesnt sound as nice as the taylor. Its quieter and has a wider fretboard if you have larger fingers it may be better. Its a tad odd to play when seated because its so small. Plugged in it sounds great much better than acoustic. The gig bag is kinda cheap and not very good for actual travel but its $209 so cant complain all that much. For the money its a easy win. THe baby taylor is overall a much nicer built quality guitar out of the box the action on the yamaha was great vs the taylor that needed a full setup. The non cut away makes it harder to play on the lower frets and its slightly thicker about a inch and its wider which i actually prefer when seated playing. Using the guitar with a strap the taylor is top heavy and will slump over easily the yamaha is so light its pretty well balanced in that regard. If this is your only guitar get the taylor as its sound is non comparable to the yamaha. If this is just for travel and you have a nice full size acoustic maybe go with the yamaha simply for travel use as its smaller and if plugged in sounds big. Easier to play and cheaper if you damage it. Out of these twou which do I like more? I actually like the martin lx1 more but didnt buy it because i wanted a built in tuner. Silly but for a travel guitar i wanted all the things in one place. The yamaha uses normal batteries for the tuner and preamp vs the taylor that uses smaller watch batteirs nothing crazy you cant find at cvs but something to note. The bag on the taylor is much nicer and could fit a ipad in the puch the yamahas bag is cheap and very thinly padded.

The Yamaha bag will protect it from dust, that's about all.

I have a arm injury and have been looking for a small/thin guitar to switch to. Out of these which one has the smallest/thinnest body?? Kinda looks like it's the APXT-2.

Thank you, great video, just found the info cards, I was thinking about a £200 .00 guitar to try & learn on, I'd like something with a good sound.
I already have a back packer guitar, though it sounds poor !

No mention of neck width or neck shape. Unless your child tries them all out they may give up on the guitar. So important to get the right neck width and shape for your hand size.

Is there any reason you can’t put nylon strings on a baby Taylor?

look for a used yamaha fg jr-1 or jr-2 or another comparable guitar if you haven't bought one already. That way you can get a nice sounding quality instrument that is good to learn on but also won't break the bank if they don't take interest in it right away. I have one and they are nice guitars

    Pruebas algunas guitarras sin pua.
Me parece que Las que tocas sin pua será por qué si lo haces con ella no sonarán bien
