      @@rickeymitchell8303 both. If you do some work to the bracing, you can probably do a lot for the sound, but that headstock will never look good on an acoustic.

      I have the Fender CD-60 (no cutaway) and I prefer to play it over a lot of guitars 2 to 3 and sometimes 4 times the price. 3 of my friends have recently went out and bought one as well as a travel guitar, so they don’t have to lug around their more expensive guitars.

    I bought the original version of Yamaha APX500 15 yrs ago from UK. Since then, I have been frequenting shops and trying out everything from $3000 Taylors to Takamine's and everything in between. But every time I come back and pickup the APX, I realize why I liked it in the first place and still use it extensively. Its my fav guitar in the world. Great video and selection.

    My Stagg SA20D is pretty nice for the £90 I paid for it. It's a dreadnaught, and the sound is pleasing enough for me. The only thing bad about it was the tuners. The gears on the inside of 1 or 2 had lots of broken teeth after a couple of months. Sorted that out with some cheap replacement tuners off Amazon, and I haven't had any problems since.

    You're a fu""""ing blast to listen to! I had to pause it and comment when you got to "tear me to shreds for how badly I played that, but don't tear this guitar to shreds, it's phenomenal!"... maybe you didn't say lovely but you said it at some point...I dig you mate! I was researching electric guitars for a couple months and I was replying on comparison videos, as it is I'm in a nursing home with Emphasema and on lockdown due to the Pandemic. No one here gets out... and no non essential people get in, so I couldn't go to a shop, play a few and make a decision. I don't want pity please, I'm doing great, quit smoking and I have a brand new Fender Squier Affinity SSS and a Fender Mustang Lt25 modeling amp, a decision I arrived at with the help of your videos. You were demoing the 50 watt version of the amp I ended up getting, and I'm now watching this for someone here that wants to learn, wants an acoustic, and wants to spend $150.00 American dollars. I've a vague idea of what a quid is, but I think I may be able to find out, I have internet access obviously, but I'm still not finished with you're video, gotta have priorities. I have watched you so often and you always inspire me as a guitar player and as a human being. You're self deprecating sense of humor and you're general attitude of silliness is awesome, because underneath it all it's obvious that you're a very intelligent guy, with a tremendous amount of knowledge of all things guitar, gear, I'd have loved to have stumbled into your shop rather than go through a local guy here in Miami, but after I find out if he will give me a proper setup without charging me, I'll find out whether or not he's one of the good guys? I thought he was, but my intonation is off at 12, almost a half step sharp and the actions high, and the high e is more difficult to bend than the b so that's not cool. I have to have the bedrail removed and go through a whole 20 minutes of getting setup before I can even begin, I will eventually be able to sit in a chair, but I'm playing from bed and can't put the weight on my feet to transfer, it's complicated, I had a back surgery too (ugh this guy has problems ,NO PLEASE LET ME MAKE MY POINT, NONE OF THAT...I'm at peace, I'm happy, I'm under Hospice care and after many years my pain is being well managed, meaning I'm taking some really good drugs! The primary reason is of course to minimize, if not remove the pain, but I must admit, being pain free has its own feeling of happiness after yrs of it, but I do like the secondary benefit of this very pleasant opiate buzz...I can understand how one could become very easily addicted to them. My heart goes out to anyone fighting an addiction, and I do think if the great losses to the music world, Prince, Tom Petty, and it just goes on, guitars strapped on jumping around on stage has lead to more musicians needing surgery, mine is from my own stubborn abusing of it, but my point is this) I've not walked since my back surgery, and playing from this bed is tricky, if I make room for the amp, it's in my wheelchair lol, portable! I can hang my legs down, at least 1 and I get a HALF decent angle, but it's not the same as sitting on a stool, or standing...a work in progress but, if the guitar were setup properly, I'd be more willing to go to the trouble of getting a nurse to take this bed rail off etc ...I'm playing anyway, 1 way or another I'll have it setup if I have to order the allen wrenches myself. I'm going to call him cause he said try it out and some like it slinkier than others, but he didn't do anything to it, so that's a bit dissapointing, but easily remedied. I went off on a tangent or 2, but I always end up mentioning why I've relied so heavily on videos like these, and then explain that I'm not to be pitied please don't, I'm doing better than 98% of this world's population and all my needs are met, I have breakfast in bed, a room with a view of palm trees and blue skies, I believe God put great people in my life so I'm well taken care of medically, and I've got a tablet, a new laptop from my Hospice social worker, and a great Guitar/Amp set-up, it just needs a setup the setup does, so my main point was to say that I'm doing research for someone who knows nothing, where as I know a little, I don't know what's on the market, so I wound up here. The first thing suggested when I typed in affordable acoustic etc.. I always smile, and I'm a fan of yours personally, you've got character, you are a character, and you're not arrogant, humility is one of my favorite qualities, and sense of humor! I just really felt compelled to convey my sincere appreciation for helping me decide, and my friend who watched said only that he liked the 7th guitar you review, I'm going to have a look, I loved guitars long before I could play , they're just so cool visually right? Nothing sounds like a guitar when it's crying and singing, cracked up, I fell in love with the guitar at a very young age, and only started learning at 16 or so, I think that's why you look like you're enjoying your life man! You're surrounded by all that cook stuff. It's been said that if you can work doing something you love, you never have to work a day in your life. In your case , if all you did was play, like if you were a guitar player for a living like Clapton, itd be different, you've got to sweep the floor, and deal with customers and carry heavy amps and stuff, there's some stuff you may not be in love with, but it still beats painting houses for a living, task work. My grandfather was from Yorkshire England and he painted houses, I've done manual labor too, there's no degrading work, all work should be respected right? Guitar shops are cool though, like working in a toy store sort of! Anyway, Ive rambled on, so it's time to ramble on!☮️✌️

    I had a tanglewood crossroads cut away an sent it back. Nice to start off with but then ended up with string buzz an I’ve also got a scar on my right inner bicep due to friction burn from the body of the guitar as it seems to have a rougher finish

    When you analyze guitarist throughout history you realize that at the moment their iconic guitar was like the ok guitar of the era. Somehow they became "the best" and most "expensive" of today. Like if you were to see the original guitars they played on their first albums which made them who they are and gave them that unique sound...they were the norm/genetic guitar people had. lol oh...life is full of surprises lol

    I've had my eye on the fender all mahogany for the past week. I've only been playing for 3 months and I don't know anything about guitars. My brother gave me his Ovation Celebrity. Would I be downgrading quite badly if I were to buy the fender and give him back his Ovation?

    I thought my Epiphone PR-150VS would make the list. The used market is saturated with them lol
    It’s a good decent acoustic. Maybe more for beginners although I bought it simply because it was good enough and didn’t need anything fancy for home playing. But now, I really want to upgrade so I will add more to the over flooded used market

    • @williamb4652
      @williamb4652 Рік тому

      IMHO only…
      1. Nylon strings hurt your fingers less when you are learning
      2. In my opinion, steel strings sound much better. Much brighter, better sustain.

    I just played a Rogue at Guitar Center. I have a Taylor 214ce Deluxe. I payed $1400 for it. I liked playing the Rogue acoustic more than my Taylor. It played easier, actually sounds better and it's selling for $70. You should do a review of one of those. I'm going back to Guitar Center tomorrow and buying it.

    Another fine video, but feel you should layout what your definition of "cheap" is. For me, I'd say about $200 USD or less.
    In looking up the Fender Malibu on Muscians Friend it was listed at $399 USD - that ain't cheap.
    Anyway, just a suggestion, a line off the top just saying the price range would be helpful. Thank you.
