My avatar I’m playing my 1937 Martin 0-17 I’m 69 years old now. I bought this Taylor ad22e a few weeks now and I love the playability and dark warm sound

Very warm tones with amazing clarity and sustain. Quentin is definitely coming into his own as a player. Visiting Boseman is on my bucket list. I own one Taylor custom from Boseman already. Keep it up guys. Always enjoy your demos. A good balance of talking and playing. Always love the discussions about tone woods. Good to see some honest displays of some higher end acoustic guitars. Thank you from Simi Valley California.

That little Taylor sounds amazing !! I have a 25th Anniversary Grand Auditorium and the sound is amazing. I do not play is much and really should sell it to someone who has more time to play it.

Just got one of these last week and it's easily my favorite acoustic right now. Love the warmer tones it has. Tried a Guild M-25e, Martin 000-15M and 000-18. To be fair the 000-18 is a different beast and totally different sound (more open and bright) so it wasn't a good comparison and not what I was looking for. The Taylor AD22e just had the right (warm/dark) sound that I was looking for. If you have a guitar like a Martin D-28 or similar it's 100% worth it to check out the Taylor AD22e, Martin 000-15M or the Guild M-25e as it's just a different flavor to add to your acoustic collection.

Very nice guitar. I played one the other day. Plays very nice. It has a good mid range response and mahogany tends to have a compressed sound.

agreed but its not a mahogany guitar

@@sooparticular it’s a mahogany top with sapele back and sides which sonically similar to mahogany but a little more articulate. The look is also very close. Taylor uses this tone wood a lot.

Looks to me like a Guild M20 clone. Same price point as well. You guys have played them both so it would be nice to hear your impression in comparison.

The third number, two is a grand concert, four is a grand auditorium. The middle number one stands for spruce top and the number two stands for hardwood top, usually mahogany but it can be another hardwood.

Excellent demo, as usual. Took my relatively new Martin 000-15SM to my local dealer for a full setup. The 000-15SM sounds wonderful, BUT, out of the box, it is not wonderful to play. While there I played a Taylor AD22e. I have to say that if I had discovered the AD22e first, I would not have the 000-15SM. Yes, in my opinion, the AD22e is THAT nice: warm and supremely playable. You may have heard the term, "Plays like butter;" the AD22e does!

By the way, the AD22e is also a much nicer looking guitar.

Well, I own a Guild M-20 and a Taylor AD27e, so this is interesting to see and hear. Don't expect Martin sounds! What this is -- with these woods -- is a more rich, thicker Taylor sound. Not that omnipresent bright sparkle. This interests me, but what I really want to hear is an AD Grand Auditorium -- the best Taylor body shape and size. That should be a fingerstyle dream, if you are open to mahogany tones. Oh, use nickel strings on these. That's a quiet sound, but with wonderful, clear tone.

I've been watching a bunch of videos reviewing the 322e before stumbling on this one.. not sure if it's the wood difference or something else but I prefer the sound of the AD22e to the 322e's (at least the ones on UA-cam). Both the 322 and 324 sound muddled to me. The AD22e has everything the mahogany promises, punch, clarity, and balanced mids. Amazing how something so similar can be so different (and I'm really nerding out on these with high end headphones and listening to the same video demos over and over and over for what it's worth).

Calm down. It's a selling point that matters to many consumers. No one is arguing that you can't get good quality elsewhere... I have a "Kentucky" mandolin made in China using North American tone woods and it sounds fantastic. Some of us appreciate knowing that the employees are working for 1st world wages and working conditions (Same reason I often buy Stronglight, Specialites, and Mavic bicycle components made in France). If the reviewers didn't mention where it was made there would be a bunch of people asking in the comments. Personally, I don't care if I have a USA made or Mexico made Taylor but it has a huge impact on the resell value whether you like it or not and that matters to people.
