Hey Lon, Could you do a review of the newly released (23-2-2016) ASUS VivoBook Flip TP301UA? There are no reviews yet on YT of this product and I am considering buying it. Also, your reviews are better quality then most.
Lenovo Miix 700 stands is much more comfortable. I like Dell better but Lenovo watchband hinge is just perfect. RAM and CPU is same, Dell's display is better, Lenovo has standard full size hdmi and UBS ports too. Dell is $830, Miix is $540.
Can anyone recommend a good laptop? Just looking to browse, stream videos and download music. Budget= under $500 or should I just get a PC with that price?
I believe it's such a hassle to be changing from docks to docks. I kind of notice that from you too; however, great review Lon, informative and honest.
Shabeeb, of you read this. I respect you man. You're helping a small UA-camr doing what he loves to do without asking something back. You're the real MVP.
80,000 subscribers Lon! I remember when you had much less when I first found you from your HP Stream videos. Can't wait until 100,000 subscribers Lon, you deserve it!
I love the product but i hate what dell does with the prices. The cheapest xps 12 is about 1250 euros instead of 1000 dollars, i would love to pick up an xps 13 for school but the price really puts me off. I'll probably have to get a different one because of the insane prices in the Netherlands.
I have one of these in 1080p and love it! I can't stand scaling issues and figured the extra battery life was a major benefit over the 4k. The screen on the 1080p looks great too, it's not a low quality display even though it is the base display. I have tried the Spectre x2 and really think the dell is better; for my needs at least. Lon, you may want to double check about it coming with the usb-c to usb-a dongle... Mine did not come with a dongle. I know the Spectre x2 did, but the XPS did not.
+OdavidS Realistically I get between 5-6 hours at 25-50% brightness. I doubt I could get it to 7 hours. I do use google chrome for web browsing and have quite a few extensions so that does eat up some resources.
I've been told that the dell xps 12 should have over 5 hours of battery life, but mine only last less than 2 hours. Is there something I should do?? The brightness is typically no higher than 25%.
finally at 12 minutes got an answer to my question. Lol. not for me if it can't handle heavy video editing. I want a tablet PC that can handle heavy duty work. Guesse won't be cheap.
This is almost perfect, I think if they would have just added a kick stand into the tablet portion like a surface pro it would be more pleasing in my opinion. About the screen resolution, I agree that 4K wouldn't be a big deal unless you are comparing side by side and in my experience 14 inch screens with 1080p is the sweet spot. Going lower screen size with 1080p doesn't hurt either as pixel density starts to increase going into smaller screens.
hey This dell XPS vs SURFACE BOOK - which one would you recommend ? the specs of the surface book seems better but I've seen many complaints, software or hardware wise ... any help ?
thanks lon, did you have a chance to look at toshiba satellite radius 12 4k version? would be very interested in if you share your thoughts... if anyone interested best buy has it on sale for $899 now, look for p25w model
The only difference is that the Latitude comes with Windows Pro and a handful of corporate data security applications preinstalled. Also, Dell's business support tends to be a little faster, but a little more difficult to deal with on the phone.
If it is like my Dell laptop, you can regain about half the battery life. On my Precision 3510, I lowered the screen resolution in Windows from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080 and lowered the refresh rate from 60 Hz to 48 Hz and recovered 55 minutes of battery life with 5-6 tabs in Edge, 2 Word documents, and an Excel sheet open. With this 2-in-1 it would probably be a little more because the other components use a smaller fraction of the total system power.
+More TECH cool..we have a saying here in the Netherlands. roughly translated "its a question of what the fools are willing to pay for it" and we dutch are rather fools when it comes to getting a good deal or so it seems hahaha.
its amazing really that when microsoft released the surface pro first model most companies didnt seem to care or feel threatened now they all seem to be making rivals to compete with it. This is a nice looking device but i think 4k is a little overkill i would rather have the 1080p with longer battery life for a screen of that size. Also congratulations lon on hitting the 80k subs :)
It's probably too late, but if you're studying engineering, a physical science, architecture, or any kind of creative design this will not be sufficient; but for pretty much anything else it is more than enough. I'd recommend the Surface Book with the power base (with GTX 965m) if you can afford it, otherwise either Dell XPS are good (13" or 15") and if you'd still like cheaper with almost all the power, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (the one with red accents) is also excellent.
why are there no cheap windows tablets with 1080p / 1440p / 4K screens? I got a fucking ipad 2 for free with an electricity contract. That thing has a resolution of 1536 x 2048! Why can't they put a similar screen in a low end windows tablet? I don't want to pay 2000 fucking euros just for a good screen!
This is what a hybrid should be like. I don't know why MS SP4 has not gone with this type of keyboard, the SP one is useless for my usage (on my lap AKA laptop!!!). This kills the SP as a tablet, slim and lighter. Essential is a USB-C and again well done Dell, bad MS. The USB-C is brilliant for using a battery pack as well as other uses. 1080p is also a good move as it will have better battery life than the SP. The M processors are fine for tablet users as the SP4 is overkill for me and really only for power users (video editing, etc). Finally Windows tablets are actually becoming half decent tablets where as the SP4 sucks. Well done Dell and Samsung, hopefully MS will get their act together.
+Lon Seidman Yesterday I bought a Dell 14" 3000 from best-buy for $240 and it was really laggy so I returned it today and got a 14" Acer from Walmart for $197. It supports AC wifi and the battery life is 12 hours! I really hope you could review it. Thanks. (it's also a little laggy but I heard if you delete McAfee it will become much faster.)
Ouch, I always find these surface type computers UTTER rip offs.
is it possible to sharpen the dell pen?

The keyboard set ups all look a little too fussy for me. I really like the look of that new Huawei "mate book" with its included USB-C dock
Hi, great reviews. Please review Lenovo thinkpad x260.
Nice review; looks like a neat little computer.
Maybe a shorter disclaimer with an annotation providing full details?

In the UK at John Lewis the base XPS 12 is £749.99 compared with £899.99 straight from Dell

+Corrosive is the battery of the 1080p really 7-8 hours on wifi?

Sounds like you might have something running in the background that's consuming resources.
+lon seidman do you have mic clipped onto your shirt and if so what is it

have you found the perfect 2-in-1 laptop ? I'm looking for a tablet that is powerful. but seems like everything is too thin to have any real power.

Hi, i bought this. Can you tell me where to buy the optional keyboard - cover? I can't find it. Thanks a lot
I play CS:GO on this Laptop. After adjustments, 120 FPS(while charging)
Thanks for this great review, I still can't believe Minecraft runs at 4K at 30fps on a fanless CPU, incredible times we live in.
They ruined the XPS line I was so looking forward to a re hash of last years it was the 'macbook killer' :'(
Kind of unrelated but could you review a Xiaomi mi pad 2 with Windows 10 please?
lon just a heads up. Can you do a review of the new
MSI Cubi 2 plus mini pc. great videos by the was
grt video. could u pls differentiate between this and dell latitude 12 2 in 1. r they the same
The only difference is that the Latitude comes with Windows Pro and a handful of corporate data security applications preinstalled. Also, Dell's business support tends to be a little faster, but a little more difficult to deal with on the phone.
can I lower the resolution in the 4k model when not required ,and save some battery ?

Love dell, awesome video!
Why is it stuck at 1 view?
I have a question about the XPS, can I hook it up with an external monitor? like with a dock?
Man I noticed Dell has been stepping up their games. Very nice review.
Don't need 4K and don't need detachable. Samsung has a core-m for less$$. Like a €650 price limit
To be fair Dell include a few extra things for £50 more (In the UK

Great Review
Always love the reviews :D
I'm thoroughly enjoying all of these laptop videos. Keep it up!
lol still 1 view. Bro its like UA-cam is slowing your processing on purpose.
I get so excited to watch these laptop videos. Don't stop! 😄
too much time spent on disclosures in every video when they can just be pasted in video description.

Would I be okay to use this to get through college??
