    Excellent explanation of ReaSurroundPan! Really helpful! I am curious about Matt's attitude towards ambisonics for both point source and distributed audio.

    I'm really curious about using ReaSurroundPan as part of Ambisonics mixing with NX Headtracking. Do you know if we can use these methods to export à stereo downmix for more spatialize sound? My clients never used surround, but operating a more immersive experience in UA-cam video could offer a massive plus in the mix.

    would it be possible to output the panning data as osc data so i can use it to control a commercial immersive processor like Yamaha afc image ?

    Not playing on doing any of this, but I'd like to understand the rest of the picture, how is the audio routed to each speaker, like from Reaper to the speakers?

    Just this one plugin if it were made by any other company than Cockos would cost sooo much, and it's included in our 60 (or 225 in this dues case) DAW.

    great explanation of the plugin. Is there a way or another application to set custom rooms sizes?

    • @MattGlennSoundDesign
      @MattGlennSoundDesign Рік тому +1

      ReaSurroundPan is quite unique in the world of panners in that it allows you to move the speakers around in 3D space as freely as you move the sounds themselves. While you can’t change the basic square shape of the panning window, positioning the speakers to match your custom room shape is a very effective solution - it’s what I’ve done for all of my install mixes since I started using Reaper.
      There are other plugins and panning software/hardware that give you more detailed control of the room setup - some even let you upload drawings of your space - but they tend to be quite costly. Hardware is particularly pricey - boxes like Atmos Renderers, D&B Soundscape, Timax, and others typically require a five-figure budget for entry.
      For software, I’ve toyed around with Atmos Production Suite, MNTN, Sound Particles Space Controller, and GRM Spaces 3D. They all have unique strengths and weaknesses in regards to room configuration. Each has their special tricks, but to be honest ReaSurroundPan competes handily with all of them in core functionality.

    Hello there. I add reverb to feel more comfortable when recording vocals. However, there are echoes in the sounds I recorded. Even though I turned off the effects, echoes are heard in the audio recording. What is the solution to this? Can you help me?

    I don't understand how the chopper feels surround although I'm using stereo headphones. Is it just psychosomatic/placebo because I know and see it on the screen that that's where I'm supposed to here it?

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  2 роки тому +1

      Its a stereo downmix of the surround for the video but I think its just having the wide spaced mics plus the panning on the shotgun.

    • @MattGlennSoundDesign
      @MattGlennSoundDesign 2 роки тому +2

      Yep, Jon summed it up well. The panned shotgun mic by itself gives you volume-based panning. The stereo pair adds time (delay) to the mix - in other words, as the chopper flies around the mics, there is both a volume and a time difference between the left and right channel that tells your brain which direction the sound is coming from. This makes for a more convincing sonic image than just volume alone.

    I am waiting for binaural stereo implementation into that surround mixer.

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  2 роки тому

      what would we need for binaural ?
      and do you mean to create a binaural effect for things that were not recorded as binaural?

    • @AedesRecordz
      @AedesRecordz 2 роки тому

      @@TheREAPERBlog I meant binaural stereo [HRTF-related effects] coming from points [speakers], which user can set up in this mixer plugin. I think binaural panning is the future, one needs only headphones to hear it properly. Lots of people listen to music on headphones these days. Take a look at WaveArts Panorama plugin for example. Standard DAW panning is merely intensity based.

    I can’t wait for the moment in which it will be turned in real Atmos: producing and exporting the required objects.
    The programmer of RSP promised it’s possible and I know he can work on it. He has already made proposals.
    What’s unknown, it’s the real intention by Justin ans Schwa, to implement the renderer coupled with the panner, and finally exporting the .audio Atmos plus the 2 required sidecar objects files.
    Let’s hope and see.

    • @Not-Only-Reaper-Tutorials
      @Not-Only-Reaper-Tutorials 2 роки тому

      @UCf_86H4Ql8yEktNE290iI9g it is channel based .. only bed. Thus not atmos at all. Not even export in ADM … so, for the time being, it’s not even lecit to use the name Atmos. Just “Atmos-like” when it’s referred to 7.1.2 or 7.1.4

      Hey Tormy. The spreadsheet is just created in Google Sheets in this case. I make it manually before the project starts mixing, so the spreadsheet is actually used to build the RSP layout and not the other way around.
