I don't understand why people fight over the way a car looks or what it has. Everyone has different likes and tastes... if you don't like the looks of it, that's awesome.. there are many others who do, and while most people will say CVT's are horrible (I'm one of them by the way) there will be those that could care less if it has a CVT or not..That doesn't make them wrong or dumb or anything, that's just what they like.... It's bad enough people get so emotionally attached to a piece of machinery, let alone fight over it as if anyone's opinions matter to anyone else. Much like all this shit I just wrote... just an observation.
Not that it matters, but anyone notice that the Murano that's parked and the one he's driving on the road are different cars? One is a Platinum edition while the one being driven is an SL. You can tell by the rims.
I'm really liking this one's design. I guess it looks similar to the Juke in certain ways, but this kind of design just works a lot better on a bigger car.
I think it looks great. Other than the fact that it has four wheels, windows and an engine, generic would probably be the last word I'd use to describe it. I'd say unique or original. To date I have not seen any car that looks anything like this.
Don't know how I feel about that exterior, it looks very Korean in the way that it looks like it tries too hard. However the interior is spectacular! Much nicer than even the Lexus, and I happen to like that pearl stuff.
Nissan nailed the design, inside and out. Gets younger buyers, and sales have taken off in its first year. Well played, gentlemen. A very strong value compared to something like a Lexus RX
Motorscooters pioneered the CVT. But they are very simple and crude compared to what's in these cars. Nissan appears to have continuously improved theirs so that they're very reliable and easy to maintain. We own a 2015 Rogue and it's performed very well for the first 25000 or so miles.
I'll be getting murano platinum soon and I'm glad they decided to stick with that old engine. VQ35DE been tested and proven to be a tank of a engine that still puts out respectable numbers considering its been around for more than a decade. I've tried 2.0 turbo and GDI engines. They put down good numbers on papers but man they're whinny and also gotta worry about oil dilution.
Super nice interior. I still remember the first time I saw a 2003 murano. It took my breath away. This one just does not have that same effect. Still nicer than the lexus. I hate the lexus ... looks like a shoe.
Hi Roman, Thanks for the review, Any forthcoming performance review like 0-60? Also what do you think of the 3rd Gen CVT with D-Logic. Can't really say I'm a fan of CVT. Currently driving a leased 2012 Nissan Murano and will be due soon for replacement. 2015 Genesis is high on my list..Thanks.
I just don't get why they don't do this on the Pathfinder I mean if your going to be paying 43k for a platinum at least have distinct differences as in the Led in the Front ..The projector Headlights .
I notice from examining the Murano site that there is no low gear ratio--or apparently any way to hold a ratio for engine braking or crawling gear--like in the Altima 3.5. What do you think of this? How was the transmission?
Check the pics of the new 2015 Murano again...Just slide the shift lever left while in drive, then use the + or - options to manually select preset ratios for the CVT. Just like the Altima or Maxima w/out the steering wheel paddle shifters (though I wish this had the paddles optional also).
That is great mpg's for the size, V6,and 4WD. I don't get what the fuss is about the cvt, my car has one and I think its great its smooth, responsive, deliver better mpg, they're faster when passing compared with traditional auto in most cases the numbers don't lie.
For a V6. I thought it was a CVT? Still think these transmissions need to get closer to or better yet OVER 30mpg or might as well just put a real transmission and power in these things.
I'm headed off to Australia in a few months for my best friend's wedding and these last couple videos about the Murano has me scared that every Australian is gonna be throwing boomerangs while riding kangaroos. Should be an interesting trip.
Porsche 911 turbo has a lot of downforce. CVT transmissions are the ultimate transmissions. Once they get them a little better sorted out this is why Nissan continues to develop it. Millions of snowmobilers know how awesome a CVT can be! I like this guy he's near my age and my size. Hard-working guy. Good channel I hope it continues to succeed I like his son too
The worst thing about the 2015 Murano is the ugly Donald Duck front design. And the CVT transmission which makes it a boring, numb drive. And that's a dealbreaker for me. I'm going to buy the 2015 KIA Sorento or 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe instead.
Stefan Schmidt Nissan completely stuffed up with the Murano in 2015. And if they don't change their design team, it's going to be the same in 2016 and onwards.
i'm sorry I don't know much about the price of transmissions but if CVTs suck so much that engineers are attempting to emulate the shifting characteristics of a torque converter automatic, why don't they just put in a regular automatic to begin with? I thought modern torque converter automatics were very good when talking about fuel efficiency and driving feel.
Unless you have an 8 or 9 speed automatic it generally won't match the fuel economy of a CVT. That automatic will also cost a bit more to manufacture (not that any transmission is inexpensive these days). Like it or not, CAFE requirements will ensure a strong future for CVTs.
Benedict Samonte That is one reason they are so prevalent in Nissan's lineup. Of course Honda, Toyota and Subaru also use them. Ford is also considering a return to CVTs for its smaller cars.
You dhould titled this video beautynwith a beast. Meaning a stylish car withna beast og annengine. The vq v6 is legendary. Durprised it doesn't put out morenhp. But a o-60 in 7. 0 says it all! Nissan said. We cwn make it better than it was before... Better, stronger faster🏃
Really dig this but feel they along with most of the other CVT's in this class need to get OVER the 30mpg COMBINED than this 28 which I DOUBT is truly 28 when the city and highway were only 21/24. That is the only reason I am still leaning towards the Rogue, also for the bottom line price. But will admit, I DO PREFER the size and styling of this Murano.
+Bishop Kalliko I think its 21 city 28 hwy 24 combined. For AWD V6 that is pretty good. Rogue has similar numbers with a 4 cyl 22city /27 highway with AWD.
White interior only looks good when it is new, try to keep it clean in reality. Car makers try to cut cost will cost them with sales, recalls and reputations
drag = drag coefficient x 0.5 x air density x velocity squared x cross section area. So Porsche and Murano don't have the same drag even if the drag coefficient is the same.
I was kinda thinking about posting something similar. the way he talks about it makes me think he doesn't quite understand co-efficient of drag. Small, high performance cars usually don't have very impressive Cd numbers, even though total drag would be quite low.
Agree with you guys In aerodynamics there is a bunch of coefficients. The most known are Lift and Drag coefficients (Cl & Cd). The Bernoulli equation states: D = q S Cd Where D: Drag force q: dynamic pressure (i.e. 0.5 times the air density, times airspeed to square) Cd: “Drag coefficient” S: area (either “projected area” or “wet area” depending on how the Cd was defined) These coefficients are “dimensionless quantities” that are obtained through wind tunnel testing or estimated by CFD (Computational fluid dynamics). In aircraft design, it is not always possible to test a full scale mock-up on a wind tunnel. The beauty of these coefficients is that they are constant for a given shape. That is why scaled models on wind tunnels are used to establish them (more practical and less expensive). With that being said (favorite phrase of Nathan), if you take a Porsche and you up-scale it by a factor of 2 (always respecting all geometrical proportions), you will still have the same Cd, but twice D. If Nathan or Roman get to read this, I mean to do a constructive comment and try to teach you something in return to all the great reviews that you give to us. Happy Holidays,
+MilanoFootball Have you been in one (specifically the Platinum model)? Every review I've read says the interior is very high-quality for the price range, but I just can't shake the feeling that the interior will have the same Nissan cheapness in-person we've all come to know and love.
I am really not a fan of Nissans grille situation. They have a different grille for nearly every car. Except the Sentra and I think the Altima(?) where they have the curved grille. Basically they have to do something, because this grille still isn't working for the brand. And neither are any of the others.
Ash R. you obviously don't understand the benefits of direct injection and twin charged turbos.... Turbos aren't just for performance they are also used to make engines more efficient, IE turbos commercial haulers like the straight six found in large diesel trucks..
As an Aussie, boomerangs and all,, the car is overstyled and will date like hell; like some current Mercedes models, when they try to do a sexy look and frankly fail.
That's the thing, Right now the Design looks really good, but how well it will age in 3yrs plus..?. Do agree on the current MB design language, except for the S-Class, the designs are too swoopy (flowing lines). Like the classic designs of the 90's and early 2k MB's....
Benedict Samonte I understand fully what you are saying, for me its all to do with cohesion, a balance between the front and the rear, Jaguar, Ford and Alfa Romeo often understand this in styling terms, Citroen often seem to go too far but by comparison there is cohesion even so,,this car has an unfortunate mixture of everything.
completely agree. I really don't like the styling of headlights and tail lights that seem to keep getting stretched closer and closer to each other. I mean seriously, the headlight lens is stretched more than half the length of the hood. What purpose does that serve? just stupid. I used to be a nissan guy too btw, but styling, CVTs, and lack of manual trans options have soured the brand for me.
John G Still like Nissans but the CVT is a downer; but will see how the New CVT stacks up. The VQ engine is still viable although 2 decades old, but would be nice if at least- DI was implemented to bump up the HP. The Wife wants this CUV (Current lease is up in 3 months), but really would like to try the New Genesis with AWD. Took 2 test drives and all I can say Wow.. :)
with the way nissan drastically changes their design, i bet the next murano would not even closely look like this. great cars, bad, bad design team. Explains why the Murano is overpriced for its class, overtime pay for designing this thing. That's why I traded my Nissan long time ago, got a Subaru and never looked back.
You seem like a likable fellow but this wasn't very informative. You didn't talk any tech or package differences. If your intent was just to be a general overview...mission accomplished. A lot of wasted b-roll and time with your segue to the next sections. "Alex on Autos" or "TestDriven TV" offer a more detailed view. This is just my opinion and I wasn't sure of your intent.
OMG! Buying this Murano is just about the "fake" "hidden" C-pillar. Combining the funky rear lamp from Juke, center AC blower from the Slyphy and steering from the Cefiro. Come on! The only unique part is the large ugly front grille, lolx... One word. Disappointment
looks lot more beautiful than most brand new SUVs, despite the fact its been almost 7 years on the roads.
I am 20 years old and we went to the Nissan dealer to look at this car I love it.
I don't understand why people fight over the way a car looks or what it has. "COULDN'T" care less.

3,5 years have passed and this car still looks really good
best youtube reviews ever, love the tfl car and truck channels

I don't like it. The prev. generation looked great and unique. This one looks pretty generic for today's standards.
Pepper Uranus define generic, this car doesn't look like anything else on the road, it's unique and recognizable.
Forgive him, for thou is forgiving
I think it looks great. Other than the fact that it has four wheels, windows and an engine, generic would probably be the last word I'd use to describe it. I'd say unique or original. To date I have not seen any car that looks anything like this.
Great review, Roman! Very informative and organized.
Shit, I'm 23 and I want that new Murano! I've always been a fan of them. This one is hella sexy
Great review, awesome car. Looked even better in 4K!
Motorscooters pioneered the CVT. But they are very simple and crude compared to what's in these cars. Nissan appears to have continuously improved theirs so that they're very reliable and easy to maintain. We own a 2015 Rogue and it's performed very well for the first 25000 or so miles.
I would take one of these over an RX any day, way better exterior style and the interior is very luxurious looking, and I'm 21.

That blindspot is HUGE!
Agreed. 1/3 of the rearview mirror is useless since the rear windshield is small.
I luv it! It's gorgeous, it's fresh, it's a great design. Great job Nissan
I notice from examining the Murano site that there is no low gear ratio--or apparently any way to hold a ratio for engine braking or crawling gear--like in the Altima 3.5. What do you think of this? How was the transmission?
they've been worked out for this transmission a lot, so i guess they don't need to add a low gear ratio anymore

Could you guys review a mitsubishi mirage?? 3cyl 40mpg combined! Thanks
Very classy vehicle for a decent price. My wife is interested in this model as well.
Could you review the Maserati Quattroporte S Q4?
SEXY SUV! I bought the platinum..I lOVE IT!!
The best Murano ever. Good job.
I don't know they had that convertible one too that one was pretty cool
For a V6. I thought it was a CVT? Still think these transmissions need to get closer to or better yet OVER 30mpg or might as well just put a real transmission and power in these things.
For its size, AWD, and a V6. Those are some great MPG rate. 28 is really good
very nice..design.. going to buy this one!

love this color

Gianluca Cannavo I agree. Nissan never good at making SUV.
Japanese people like to buy German brand SUV if we can enough money~~
Stefan Schmidt I agree. The design on the 2015 murano is ugly, just terrible
Li,e u
Like you.
Must be hard to see the rear. I rented a hyundai with those same small rear windows. Annoying as hell.

Sorry for asking such a dumb question... I've never bought a car that had CVT as an option so I've never driven one.
1guyin10 That and Nissan has controlling interest with JATCO, which makes and supplies the CVT to Nissan and other makes..
Benedict Samonte That is one reason they are so prevalent in Nissan's lineup. Of course Honda, Toyota and Subaru also use them. Ford is also considering a return to CVTs for its smaller cars.
+Ben Samonte hi quick question. Aren't JATCO CVTs also in Jeeps and Chryslers? Don't they say they're one of the worst transmissions?
im 29 and planning to get it.... should i in 2016?
ealiev60 the newer the better
put this front end look on the JUKE please!!!!!

Damn looks good!
Nice Burn It Down remix in the intro
It's a beauty .
White interior only looks good when it is new, try to keep it clean in reality. Car makers try to cut cost will cost them with sales, recalls and reputations
i wanna see that vid of the challenger
Mazda CX-5 or this?
drag = drag coefficient x 0.5 x air density x velocity squared x cross section area. So Porsche and Murano don't have the same drag even if the drag coefficient is the same.
Shhhhh we don't take kindly to facts or boomerangs in these parts.
It's CdA that's important, not Cd.
I was kinda thinking about posting something similar. the way he talks about it makes me think he doesn't quite understand co-efficient of drag. Small, high performance cars usually don't have very impressive Cd numbers, even though total drag would be quite low.

Happy Holidays,
Nissan totally failed with the 2015 Murano. Ugly exterior, cheap feeling plastics in the interior and the CVT doesn't help either.
MilanoFootball The Murano is the ugliest SUV I've ever seen
+MilanoFootball Your comment fails....it is beautiful.

those wheels look very similar to the new honda cr-v wheels :O
Roman and Nathan aren't doing as many videos together. What gives?

28 mpg? Uh my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder on average gets 25 mpg? (Lcd information)
no 2.0/2.4 liter turbo..? odd...
Ash R. you obviously don't understand the benefits of direct injection and twin charged turbos.... Turbos aren't just for performance they are also used to make engines more efficient, IE turbos commercial haulers like the straight six found in large diesel trucks..
Ash R and American cars and European cars etc... most car manufactures have cvts in the line ups.
same old engine....and cvt....not impressed....should replace with a more fuel efficient engine or a turbo charged...
In Russia it will cost about 70000$ in stock...

The interior looks nice, not sure about the exterior. But I definitely wouldn't compare this to a Lexus RX.
I would, and have. They are the same price at lease
MrHazz0 Well Nissan isn't seen as a luxury brand such as Lexus. That's the only reason why I wouldn't compare them.
Ken Leeeeeee if libin bi bout chuuuuuuu!
so I'm 20 ish and I like this car does that make me a old soul lol
Wow.

Why Nissan's design so boring? I pick Mazda every time....
Good luck finding Mazda dealer
INUMIMI28 Are they that scarce? There are more Mazda dealers compared to Mitsubishi where I am.
Yep its that scarce, especially in US, as for Mitsubishi, they are partially dead
GOOD JOB NISSAN! UNLIKE OTHER JAPANESE CAR MAKRERS. TAKE THE RISK AND PAID OFF!
THIS ONE IS WAY UGLIER than Pontiac Aztec!
I'm not ready for Nissan's vision of the future..just saying. Language of design is not to my liking...
that engine needs to go !
There is nothing I like about this vehicle.
Ugly car !!!! 😱
worst first comment ever
But a true one at that!
It's not "ugly" ugly
INUMIMI28 you need to convince yourself about how ugly these new designs are,
Geo Von Lengerke Based on everybody else's comment, I'm correct it's not ugly
