    Not free but very inexpensive and super complete camera app - Cinema P3 - and yes it desqueezes anamorphic on the fly!

    I have all the M lenses. No way I am about to buy all that stuff again. I certainly hope they won't discontinue the M cases etc. as I hope to continue using them with future iPhones. Otherwise this has been a colossal waste of money for me.

      I absolutely understand where you’re coming from. Do note, though, that Moment is offering some trade in opportunity so that you don’t have to buy everything full price.
      My understanding is that because the sensors on new phones are getting bigger, there are some R&D requirements for new the lenses. The M-Series lenses just aren’t big enough to keep up with the growing sensors.
      I’ll explain more when I get my hands on the the T-Series lenses, which should be in the coming weeks🤙🏼🤙🏼

      Grab yourself a Canon RP full frame for like 550 bucks, excluding lens, but they’re not too expensive used- and you’re set. Or you could get a Sony aps-c with a used zoom, all for way less than all this stuff.
      Insane.

    Which one would be the better lens to film concerts from the crowd? A childhood

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  29 днів тому

      Good question. Depends on exactly what you're looking for and what your situation is. Are you backstage or in the crowd?
      14mm Fisheye - good for more intimate venues or if you want the fisheye effect. Lots of famous rock and roll album covers were shot with a fisheye.
      18mm Wide - will capture the whole crowd but not good for getting detailed shots of the band.
      58mm Tele - Will allow you to get close up shots of the band, but your footage will be shaky if handheld.

    So, I own the M-Series 18mm wide and 1.33 Anamorphic lenses. I shoot on an 11 Pro Max. I’ll be upgrading soon to the 15 Pro Max, but I’m not sure how the lenses will perform on the newer and larger sensor. I’ve seen some issues with vignetting. I’m not sure if I want to invest in new lenses again.

      Great points. Moment has just released their T-Series lenses which are designed for these larger sensors. They’re offering a trade-in option for people who purchased the M-Series lenses.
      Also, Moment has told me that they’re sending the T-Series lenses by the end of august so stayed tuned for that series of videos!!

    Gr8 video! So, if I use the 48 mp camera of my iPhone 14 pro max (1x) with the M 18 mm , it will be better image quality than the 0.5 native camera, right? I don't care about the FOV, just want the maximum quality.

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  9 місяців тому +1

      Great question Luis. The short answer is yes. The longer answer is that you should check out Moment’s new T-Series Wide Lens. It is built for the larger sensor sizes of these newer phones. My video about these new lenses should be out by this weekend. Hope this helps and sorry for the delayed response!!

      15 sept 2023 I was looking for M vs T videos too and nothing showing up in search. Sadly, if we want the best optics all of us with M lenses will have to upgrade. I Steven have a Beastgrip DoF mkII. Those are expansive but won’t work on my 14 pro max either.
      This issue is why people prob still buy DSLR’s. Upgrading 4 lenses, a DoF mkII and my various cases is almost $1,000. Frustrating.

    • @MJF40
      @MJF40 Рік тому

      @@Pterodactyl-kn3ve I opted for one of their trade offers. $25 for each lens and you keep them. $50 was offered if you turn them in, but they inspect and confirm condition first. All mine are in mint condition. I’m hanging on to them. I’ll try two or three lenses this time, maybe more in the future.
      If the comparison video ever surfaces and it’s clear they are much improved and future proofed, I’d be pleased. Fingers crossed

    Hi, thanks for this. I'm coming from the dedicated photography world but lately I've been considering trying out an iphone as my main photography camera. Needless to say, I read about the Moment lenses. Have you used the anamorphic lens for photography? What is your take on it for photographers? Is the wider aspect ratio a gimmick in your opinion or is it worth checking out? Cheers!

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  Рік тому +3

      Great question and welcome to the world of mobile!!
      I tried it quite awhile ago when I first started, but I haven’t really experimented since. That being said, pausing any of the clips from the anamorphic lens in this video will give you an idea of what it looks like!
      I don’t think Moment’s lenses are a gimmick, but I do use the anamorphic sparingly because the desqueezed look in addition to the lens flares can be overdone quickly.
      Also, there’s a video about moments 1.55x gold flare anamorphic coming soon. Hope this helps!🤓

    How does the 58mm do with background blur on portraits

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  9 місяців тому

      I prefer it to portrait mode because the software makes mistakes whereas the lens is more consistent. The T-Series Tele is much better and that video is coming sometime in February.

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  11 місяців тому

      Absolutely! I’d recommend the 14mm or 18mm. For the glare you’re going to want a polarizing filter. I haven’t found one that I love yet though.

    Is it good setup if I use standard iPhone 15 with its 13mm, 26mm and 52mm for close photography and just get a single Sony 70-200 F4 macro with 2x tele converter for everything else? I thought to get Sony 20-70mm F4 before this because it is just a single lens and it cover ultra wide to short tele but realised it's not ultra wide enough and tele enough and not 1:1 macro (I not sure if crop can make it macro enough tho) and my smaller to carry and less intimidated and always be with you iPhone going to cover a lot of it. But what camera should I pair with the 70-200mm F4, it will be a waste and less usability experience to get A7CR than a full size A7RV isn't it? How about Sony RX100 and RX10, will they still make new one with Exmor T sensor technology? They looks like better phone camera across the zoom range than way better than phone camera aren't they? I also like Hasselblad color better and just get a single 28mm F4 (22mm FF eq.) can allow me to crop a lot like from 22-176mm, Leica Q3 is nice one package camera too, So are Leica D Lux 7 / Panasonic LX100II? I also thought to get Sony Xperia 1 V as pocketable camera and iPhone 15 as pocket computer because it's color is more real life than iphone but you end up carry 2 phones that aren't much better than each other much. What do you guys think? I shoot as hobbyist and sometime use for personal works like product shoot. I don't care much about bokeh too because I prefer to shoot photo and video with story and creativity and not blue everything else other than the subject. Should I just shot completely on standard iPhone 15 and use Moment macro, tele and anamorphic lens on the primary iPhone 15 lens? I feel like phone still is like having only one main camera and the others on it are just nice to have and convenient enough to use

    what tripod and mounts do you recomend for on the go vlogging with the iphone 14

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  Рік тому

      Great question! Most of the vlogging that I do I actually do with the DJI OSMO Mobile 6, which is a gimbal. I made a video about it recently.
      As far as a tripod is concerned, it depends on what I'm going for. I use my Joby Gorillapod if I know I don't need a tall tripod for anything. Otherwise, I actually have a tripod I bought two years ago that was a part of an Amazon ring light set. I find the tripod easy to use and it does everything that I need, so I don't see a benefit of upgrading. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find my exact tripod on Amazon.
      I hope this helps! Let me know if you need help choosing between something.

    Do you recommend any of these lenses for creating vertical real estate videos (houses for sale)? Can you compare the lens you believe is most recommended at 1x (including the 1x on the iPhone SE) side by side with the latest iPhone's native 13mm lens?

    • @photoswithphones
      @photoswithphones  Рік тому +1

      18mm wide. Allows you to have highest quality image with the widest field of view without distortion. I think there are some photos in my IPhone SE Moment Lens Review video!!

    •  Рік тому

      @@photoswithphones what about the anamorphic 1.33? I dont have problem with the aspect ratio, now a days almost all phone s have a diferent ratio than 16:9, so Maibe for vertical videos the 1.33x si better. My question is: in terms of low light perfformance and Sharpness, this lenses outperform the 0.5? What about a basic phone with a lens vs a high end witout a lens?
