I have been to Cora Faye’s - I live in the area. His experience is his experience. I have enjoyed it when I’ve gone there. That’s too bad that he had a bad experience. The “bug” was a moth. Some people are extremely afraid of moths - which he seemed to be. They can fit through the smallest of cracks so that was somewhat exaggerated.
Now my only problem is the killing of the bug. I was thinking you saw a roach but it only ended up being a moth flying in the window. Why get up and start swatting at it to cause a scene?
Thank you Ms. EveryDayShirell. Yes, his visit was during one of the worst moth seasons Colorado has had in years. The drama was extreme. Guess it was him way of attracting more viewers to see his video about one of few soul food restaurants in Colorado that's been around since 2006. I had no words to describe him running around my "clean" restaurant by taking off his nasty flip-flop trying to kill "a" moth. Never did highlight a "hair" on his plate which I'm sure he would have really blown up to the 100th degree. Finally, he did not receive a dirty plate; it was simply sauce from the food on the plate. Once he heard the staff was coming to get me, they quickly left. Once outside, I asked them if they were still taping (said no) because I wanted to know who he was and what was the purpose of his visit. I also needed to know why he had such a dramatic and visceral reaction over nothing? He said you'll see once the video was released. I was perplexed and noticed he didn't appreciate me not knowing who he was. Said he was a famous person and reviewed Black restaurants around the country. I let him know that I didn't appreciate him running around my restaurant trying to kill a single moth in my restaurant that he probably let in. Other customers were ticked off about his actions going after a moth. They figured that he was scared of them. They said I should have called the police on him. I won't mention other comments because I don't want to hurt his feelings. Additionally, I do sympathized with him for losing 3 of his own soul food businesses in Atlanta. According to the local reporters and news casts. It seemed to be a "big deal" due to an enormous number of lawsuits and legalities. Needless-to-say, it's very difficult for small Black-owned businesses to survive and/or be successful without our own folks tearing us down. After my young staffers showed me his video about our business, my comment was "I feel very sorry for him" and I pray God bless him in his future endeavors as we navigate through this on-going pandemic. CoraFaye's supporters are simply the best! We actually received hundreds of new followers from his demeaning video. What man means for evil; God turns to Good!
I agree, you could tell she was very remorseful, especially when she found out he was going 2 put it on social media.I wish he would not have posted this. Bad move Darius.
As a professional chef himself, it seems really wack for him to be doing food reviews. I understand wanting to shed light on black owned businesses but he does way too much when he doesn’t like something. He really puts them on blast and then goes back to his fb and goes live to laugh and make fun on them with his thousands of followers. Especially when the business has something to say back to him. I just think as far as him being a professional, he should leave food reviews to everybody else.
I agree, he is way too dramatic that's why he calls himself kingISH cause he would never be a real KING! I really dislike how he talks about blk own business. He claims not to PUT DOWN blk owned. BUT I CANT TELL! He is VERY unprofessional and a home COOK btw. he is NOT A TRAINED CHEF! He's petty af and will proudly boast about wearing that title of pettiness. I felt bad for that Lady especially as he abruptly cut her off. 🙄
Absolutely. He came in with his siddity behind to be judgmental. Ive lived in denver my whole life & there aren't alot of restaurants that aren't franchised but let alone black owned. He could have done better
He always does this but never go to any white establishments talking crazy… with his crooked ass… he had 3 restaurants to close and he wasn’t paying folks
I honestly haven’t seen him like any of the restaurants he’s reviewed. He finds something each & every time. I have been a huge fan but these reviews have definitely made me see what others have commented on for years now about him. If I saw him coming into my restaurant I’d deny him access
Man that was bad it seems to me like when you told the cashier what happened she shouldn't have taken your and should have apologized for the bad experience. There is no excuse for people being rude, I am glad that the lady caught you in the parking lot and apologize for your experience
The owner seems like she's lost her spark for cooking and serving good food. I bet when she started everything was delicious and clean. She's tired, no excuse though
I have to agree that you should have asked for the manager, to give them the opportunity to make things right. No way I would have not liked a dish, saw hair in my food and not asked for a manager. With the manager I would have offered free advise on improvement, so their black owned business is successful.
i grew up eating at this restaurant it used to be around the corner from my house on Colorado Blvd. I’ve known Cora since i was a kid (she was not in the video). It was the best soul food ever back in the day unfortunately i went back to relive those memories in 2020 and had a similar upsetting experience. I have always had hope they would improve but i see three years later it’s the third location i’ve seen them have and the food gets worse and worse 😢😢 the inner child in me hurts fr.

I wonder if it's a person that's older or a Colorado native There may not be a whole lot of Black owned soul food spotsnow but there's at least a handful that he could have gone to IN DENVER

If she has a partner, and the family is working there, some things are overlooked. Many issues are in the mix. If you really care about Black owned restaurants, be very honest with describing the peoblem, explaining resolutions, maybe tell her how to spruce up her dishes. See if she will allow you to cook. Darious you are being nice when you need to help her improve with suggestions. Clearly she was asking for help. Help out a sister. Do not leave Aurora without improvement impacting Black businesses. You like food. You are gifted to cook it. Share your skills. There is no shame in your game.
My husband and I went to Corafaye's when her restaurant was located in park hill, on Colorado Blvd. We weren't impressed at all. The food we ordered had no flavor and we never returned. I hope she improves, there aren't very many black owned businesses in Colorado.

It is unfortunate that the review was bad. I think when you are in business, there must be a Chef Ramsey hell's on kitchen approach to food quality and service. I went to a soul food restaurant back in the day and got gritty greens. The waitress was like that was pepper. My family and I decided not to make a scene. We just left and never returned. Hi Darius, normally I never say anything but you've got me here hollering with tears running down my face when you took your shoe off trying to kill whatever that was flying around. You know with the hair, that's why people need to wear hairnets to keep hair from falling in to the food.
I personally ate here and this place is trash 🗑️ and a big misrepresentation of down south food. Everybody talking shit about putting down a black own restaurant, shit based on how they coming, they do that them self. We as guest just simply commenting on our experiences going to this falsely misrepresented place.
It is what it is. Everyone shouldn't open a restaurant just because they can. Especially soul food. There's a certain feeling you get when you eat it. That's how you know it's prepared with love and the ancestors guiding you. lol I take critiques and use it to better myself. There's no excuse for what we saw here.

Awe, now i feel bad❤🩹
Did you not watch the entire review? She stated that if he made her aware that he was dissatisfied she would not have let him paid. She was respectful and took accountability for her business.
Was that the one with the funky red carpet? I think it was 2 different popular restaurants on Stony. I went in one, and it smelled like old pesticide spray and corn chips. I walked in and looked at the buffet, and left. Ugh
Luv the honest review, the truth hurts. However places are not perfect but should be tasty, clean, sanitary and bug free. As for flies, they should NOT be in an eatery being they lay eggs in food they land on, so given enough time they will So no, absolutely not. There should be no flies in eating establishments. There is something called a fly fan over doors that blows hard as soon as doors are opened.
Before he even said anything I knew the following just from what I observed: cornbread would be dry as it was falling apart, pork chop was dry by the way he cut it and Mac and cheese would have the packaged sauce.. I think the pork chop should’ve been smothered rather the chicken
I felt that was completely and totally slanderous!! Most of that could have been cut or left out of the video! I find your videos offensive bro! No Likes, No Subscribes!!
I think it was highly admirable of you to still pay for the food, despite all you went through at the restaurant. I could tell just looking at the food that it wasn't going to be tasty. You can tell what will be good and what will not be good. I feel bad for the owner, but as she stated, she has people under qualified working to wash dishes and to cook the food. I can only imagine how hard it must be for her to find good reliable help. The bug scene took me out, but I would have probably killed it also, so it wouldn't be in my food. Thank you for these reviews Darius. Maybe she will now hire appropriate help, get an interior decorator, and manage those plates going out of the kitchen herself.
Hopefully this will inspire ber to turn your experience around to 100% better gor her future customers. Her washer god bless him/her really but she needs to have someone manage that as well as spice up nit necessarily literally her entrees. Great job ifor gentle review.
He which are spiritual, restore such a one… I guess this wasn’t the case? Cancel culture is what it is… sorry for the experience it you go home and sleep and that lady has no coverage for what is soon to happen for her business! Was that the one with the funky red carpet? I think it was 2 different popular restaurants on Stony. I went in one, and it smelled like old pesticide spray and corn chips. I walked in and looked at the buffet, and left. Ugh
@@drayad2 Yes, that was it!
Why their fried foods ad cornbread white not browned ??
Awwww poor owner but girl just let it go… we got the review ma’am sorry but Darius you a mess 😂😂😂😂 ❤❤❤❤
It's old-fashioned in there, 😂😂😂
I think the look of the the food and presentation tells the story. If the food isn’t good what should he have said?
I live in Denver I've been to Cora f a y ES one time I will never go again the food was awful
Owner aeems very nice shout out for hiring special needs wash dishes. 😊

They should've offered you a discount AT LEAST! She is an excuse maker! SAD! REALLY SAD!
She offered to not let him pay for the meal since he was dissatisfied. Clearly you didn’t watch it fully.
Clearly!
No you did not take off your slipper in that restaurant 😂😂😂😂
And not wash his hands after touching his shoes and killing a fly.
After this review, I'm pretty sure this is the end for her. Dang!😔
