    I wanted to say thank you for the review on this machine. I bought a more expensive Brother originally but I'm a truck driver and wanted something that was inexpensive that I could take on the truck with me as I'm just learning to quilt and sew. This machine is perfect in that it does exactly what I needed to do. Also if it gets damaged in the truck I'm not out several hundred dollars just $72 plus tax. thanks for a great throw review and an awesome video I can't wait to see more I just subscribed.

    I purchased this machine today, I needed a back up machine since my regular machine is in the shop. I have a Baby Lock Ellure Plus that needed a tune-up & general maintenance. I had other things to mend and fix, so this machine is a great back up for me. I unboxed the machine and like it very much. It allowed me to complete the projects that I wanted to finish. This machine is excellent for a beginner sewer or used for a back up machine. I give it a thumbs up for a first or second machine.

    Thank you for the review. Thank you, too, for your honesty. Many would have cut out the bobbin error and wouldn't have shown their mistake. Agree with your assessment. FWIW, machines like this one are easier to learn the basics of sewing. I have a Brother with many bells and whistles, including 150 stitches. A much larger learning curve. Especially, when one is trying to learn so many other aspects of sewing from cutting out patterns to pressing seams, as we sew.
    Subscribed as I'd like to see more of your approach to modest clothing and more. Thanks for sharing.
    PS: Please consider omitting the video editing "special effects" as they detract from the points you're making with your videos. Thanks in advance.

    When I got back into sewing after 20 years, I bought a Brother sewing machine from Walmart to start with. It works very well since I only sew a few hours a day several times a week. You got to treat the machine the way it was meant to be used or else it’ll break down quickly. Since then I’d upgraded to other machines, but I still keep that little Brother machine for classes and sewing bees.

    I had actually looked at this machine in Wal-Mart this week, wondering how it would perform. Asking some of the same questions you answered. What I was looking for is a light machine I could move easily between art tables. The low price caught my eye since it is a second machine for when I don't want to take the time to move to my sewing area. One question I have for that wasn't answered is if it works well on paper. Thank you for the video and you time. One slight suggestion, putting a flashing warning for those that have seizures would be nice. Please don't take that as a critcism, those not sensitive often forget it can cause problems.

    • @thebluekeystone7628
      @thebluekeystone7628  5 років тому +1

      I have not used the machine on paper. I think that it would do fine. I would use the paper on the bottom with the feed dogs. I am curious about the comment about the seizures. I am unsure as to what you mean. I am interested to know. I am not offended at all; if you are going to be on the internet at all, you have to learn to deal with criticism deserved or undeserved.

    I have a little Brother machine that I bought about ten years ago. I don't use it much-- I really don't sew anymore, but other than it being a bit loud (similar sound to yours) if compared to my "big" machine, I'd recommend it to anyone needing a lightweight machine that does pretty much anything. And where stretch fabrics are concerned, I'd definitely take it over my big one.

    Funny how the internet linked me to you, the same night I bought this very machine(only one on the shelf, in blue). I had been doing online and store research for a beginner's option and came to the same conclusion you proposed, just because it costs less, doesn't mean it's not effective. Mine was $76, a bargain any way I look at it. Thanks for parts 1 and 2 of this review. Love your humor and am a subbie. Stay blessed.

    By the way, how will it do on nylon canvas? I have a pair of dirt bike pants that have a seam in the leg that has torn loose, and would love to repair them. Over the boot dirt bike pants start at $80 and go up, so this machine would pay for itself in one job. And can I hem sleeves with it?

    I would be interested in finding out how long the machine lasts. I tried this machine and it is so lightweight that it feels like a toy. For a first machine, I guess it would be alright. This machine is made out of plastic and I'm sure, with use, the parts will warp and the machine won't work the same. I was just wondering how long that would be. Keep us informed. Thank you. I just subscribed. I have a much more expensive machine but many years ago I started out with a Brother machine. The machine lasted for years of heavy sewing until my son dropped it down the stairs.

    I bought the brother jx2517 a couple of years ago at Wal-Mart. I think it was $69.00. my machine had jammed and I needed to finish a while it for Christmas. overall I like it! it's simple to use and has all the necessities. the one thing I don't like is that the bobbin seems to jam. it could be operator error. I unjam it and keep going. other than that it's a really good machine. perfect for a beginner. when I bought it I had the intention of finishing my quilt and returning it. but I really like it so I've kept it and haven't used my other machine since. so that should tell you something

      Yes, the thread will not feed through right and with least resistance. Use one of those removable wall hooks on the wall just above machine and put thread on table with the machine right below hook. They sell stand alone thread holders, but this is a cheaper solution.

      I think it is a great beginner sewing machine. It is not for running hard day in and day out for a business, but a great hobby machine.

    What happened with your bobbin and how did you fix it? My top thread won't pick up my bobbin thread

    • @thebluekeystone7628
      @thebluekeystone7628  5 років тому +1

      You have to put it in so that when you pull the thread the bobbin spins counterclockwise. You also need to make sure it wraps around a hook that is at the "6 o'clock" position on the bobbin housing then wrap it around toward the left following arrows until it cuts off. Hope that helps!!!

    I just bought mine yesterday and it was stitching great. Now it won't catch any stitches. I've checked EVERYTHING. I've changed the needle size, checked the bobbin, checked the top threading, changed the tension, tried other stitches, and still have no luck. Please help!

    • @jesseperez7363
      @jesseperez7363 4 роки тому

      What do you mean it's not catching? Is it bunching at bottom? I've been having a problem with the tension for some reason after sewing for a bit the tension goes away or gets tight.

    • @kparmans
      @kparmans 4 роки тому

      @@jesseperez7363 no, the top needle goes through the fabric but does not catch and pull the bottom thread back up through the fabric. Changing the tension doesn't fix it for me and different needles do not make a difference. I use the cotton fabric squares from Walmart, too.

      @@kparmans have to tried realigning the bobbin base ? There's a video on here on how to realign it. I have noticed that this model Can't handle much work without having to adjust something, my wife and I bought this to make my daughter some simple dresses for her dance class and it did since it was done slow and carefully. Now that she has asked me to sew some face masks for family and friends, after the first 40 ( she asked for masks for full families) it started bunching up and skipping a bit. Overall it's an Ok machine but it needs A lot of attention

    • @thebluekeystone7628
      @thebluekeystone7628  5 років тому

      Did you put the bobbin in correctly?? It needs to go in so the thread pulls the bobbin counterclockwise. Make sure to wind the thread around the hook at "6 o'clock" then follow arrows to the left until thread is cut. If this is not the problem, please feel free to give me more information as to what else is happening.

      All purpose thread is fine. For further thread information look up on UA-cam, it is a whole subject all its own, but for basic sewing purposes all purpose with typical needle will work.

    • @thebluekeystone7628
      @thebluekeystone7628  3 роки тому

      I keep my tension in the middle, but each machine can be a little different. If you are having extreme tension issues consider another issue other than top tension. could be threaded wrong, bobbin could be in wrong, etc. I would take thread out and rethread.
