If it exists in the right place in the hierarchy then it's fine. There's a time and a place. I mean this both within the context of a piece of music, wherein you would have parts that use these intervals, and also in a larger context that some music like this can be tolerated on the margins. The problem is when the weird stuff becomes mainstream instead of remaining in the margin. Halloween is once a year in a normal world, but these days every day is halloween.
Your fugue was beautiful and had lots of palpable soul, despite the difficulty in the last maybe 1/5 of it. And your guitar sounds gorgeous, warm and rich, excellent clarity, good balance. I'm thinking its tone and playability must be inspiring you. Please tell us your experience of having a handbuilt made just for you, and what you're noticing about the difference it makes to have a finer, concert-level instrument. Also, do you use medium ("normal") tension strings? I'm guessing from the feel of your playing. And carbon trebles or nylon? And what kind of bracing? Either way, the axe sounds lovely and definitely richer and more complex than the very nice Cordoba, and with the spruce top that will only deepen with more playing. Keep up the great work, Cameron! Your fugue is almost there, it's right within your reach. Me, I'm working on making fewer mistakes on Bach BWV 1007 - the 1st first cello suite Prelude, Allemande, and Courant for the time being. It's hard shit, man. But so rewarding when it gets better.
I was searching tritone in jazz and came to this and you explained this so well that I undertsand it now and know why they use it quite often in jazz. Thanks Cameron!
First comment!!!.....my favorite passive/aggressive youtuber. Nice explanation of the tri-tone. I would only add that the tri-tone is ambiguous because it can resolve outward (as you describe) or inward.
