I’ve been running a standard Caracal with medium rapids, 2x nosferatus, 2x shield boosters, cap battery, and ballistic control. It can rip apart t7 pretty quick, and as long as you are smart about ranges, stays alive very well. Basically orbit cruisers/battle cruisers at 8km and steal their batteries while keeping double shield boosters running to stay alive. It’s a very fun and active play style. Downside is no “get away” tricks. The second a gray appears warp away instantly. -SmallToaster

@@captainbenzie Well, I tried the kiting build you suggested above. Took me a long time to get it all together. Tested it out on a T5 anomaly to see whats what. Performed well. Easy. Caracal trainer with 2 shield boosters, an afterburner, 2 nos and 4 rapid missiles is working a lot better for me than a kiting build, mostly because it’s been a lot quicker to kill things.
@@tact1calshot989 New player here, since nos only has a range of ~8km, does it mean that I should orbit at that range instead of rapid missile's range?
This is a sweet Ship! I am using one fitted with Challenger Missiles as well as an Armor repairer, which I seen works better than the Shield Booster. It works wonders in the rare T7 Encounters vs the occasional Battlecruisers such as the Ferrox and Prophecy. An extra benefit I prefer vs a web is to use a Sensor Dampener which is great against Guidance disruptors the npcs use. At a range of 36km it is quite the effective weapon.
Great video, captain! I'm enjoying my caracal trainer so much since I saw the video excoundrel posted about it. Knowing I could warp in at a certain distance made it work for me. Hi Cpt Benzie, just looking at the details of both the rapid and standard medium missile launchers: rapids have longer reload time 35s vs standard 10s. Flight velocity of rapids are only 3750m/s versus standard 4300m/s. So rapids are not reloading magazines nor can fly faster. The only parameter a rapid missile is faster than standard is activation time 6.24s vs 12s and explosion velocity 170m/s vs 81m/s. My question is why the rapid missile launchers called rapid? One important thing you should mention that your missile range of 40km is with all bonuses added and that depends mostly on your rigs, skills, etc. Better to first show details in marketplace section with basic parameters then on fitted ship with bonuses. Basic range is only 27.85km if I remember correctly and that makes a huge difference. Hope this helps others to see why they won't have exactly the same 40km range.
Have you considered a Tutorial on the Caracal Navy Issue vs the Caracal Sniper ships? I would love to get your input on how they compare. Think about it Captain and thanks for all your guides.
@@captainbenzie I just got the BP and am getting the materials together to build one. I love the extra rig slots which will make it an excellent Tank Ship. Will definitely challenge my Moa tank.
I fly Navy Caracal, and farming ISK from 6/8 story missions. I always have both missles type (one equiped, and one in ship cargo). Frigates, and Destroyers (espessialy elites) are first with rapid missles, than quick retreat, and switch for regural missles to finish crusiers, and battle crusiers. Probobly not best solution but it is quite safe and easy. But i get to over 900 speed and 300dps so it is ok.
I have just started getting into these after my Vexor got jumped and destroyed (still lacking my wounds after that loss.) I have noticed that in both the advanced encounters and T5 and above anomolies you encounter a few troubling things : one More ships are showing up activating warp disruptors - death unless your out of range and two: Often times in a second or third wave the ships use both nosferatos as well as the energy neutralizers. Normally these would be out of range of you but for whatever reason they always pop in conveniently in range to start massively draining your capacitor forcing one to flee to a nearby planet to recover or be destroyed. Just a word of warning to the pilots seeking higher isk riches. I intend to double up my webifiers to try slowing them down to get my range away.. Be careful out there.
I am quite frankly amazed, due to fitting my Caracal with a semi conducted memory cell and a capacitor control circuit. These two engineering rigs changed the entire play style of the ship. No more kiting! Those rigs have given me the ability to tank. YAY! Kiting is a play style that I find too detached. To put it in your words capz, I like it 'up close and personal.' Always been a tank in other RPG's and this is no different. Just a question? Would I be better off in a MOA ship due to my preferred playing style? Not interested in going back to frigates.
