I always like it when squadrons have one accented dude in them, it always adds some sort of flavor that makes everything feel more intense for some reason.
This is hilarious to see, mig 21's low and SLOW. They were oblivious to their surrounding. Or that poor Su with full carriage. On the other hand very nice editing skills, good music selection and presentation overall.. GG
Definitely picking at the low hanging fruit, without knowledge. Still, credit where credit is due. He is quick at noticing bogies and also very effective at destroying upon initial pass. Must admit though, chances of him ever being able to come in and get on the flank from a forward angle on a good pilots nose is extremely unlikely. No clue why these MiG-21's were flying so low, unless it was to try to avoid detection, but they were far too high for that.

NobleSixFour when a base orders fighters to scramble they automatically have permission to engage the enemy to protect the airspace and whoever is under the protection of the Air Forces.
maybe these kind of scramble / air intercept missions that our Royal Malaysian Air Force done with their F-5E Tiger IIs back in the 70's and 80's. Just love the F-5s , their design were flawless and very sexy. Great job on the video mate.
Did you know the F-18 is descended from the program to up engine the F-5? Started with the N300 which evolved into the P530 Cobra. Probably explains why I also love the F/A-18 Hornets.
I've been out of the sim world since Il2 '46, and this is frigging star-trek hollywood magic of a video. Unbelievable graphics, comms, cinematic composition. Had such a blast watching this!
Okay, this is really well done. Between you and Max Pettersson I really won't have to look any further for High Quality DCS vids. Outstanding production!
Just saw this pop up in my recommended so I clicked on it. Glad I did because this video is awesome. Super cool with the different camera effects. Definitely earned a sub here :)
Very nice Video, most of these Migs were unaware of your presence XD nice. Cant wait ACG will be back operational, being practicing with the F5 for 2 weeks now.
Guessing 61 Mig pilots were unhappy with this haha? I can't imagine why else you'd dislike this video. Beautiful flying/shooting/filming/editing all the way through!
The F-20 was a great jet but by then (1986) the F-16 was well integrated into the USAF and other NATO air forces so the F-20 was seen as a bit redundant, especially because it had very similar capabilities to a Viper but with slightly shorter range. I don't doubt for the ADF role the F-20 would have been perfect but there was also a strong anti Northrop sentiment in the Pentagon, for some odd reason so the F-20 was doomed. I also don't doubt some of our allies who couldn't quite afford the F-16 possibly could have swapped out their F-5Es for F-20As had things worked out better for the F-20 program. Maybe an alternate timeline things worked out better.
Hi, i've been wanting to get into DCS for quite some time, however I have no flight sim experience except for WarThunder (in no way a simulator at all), and I don't have a joystick. Any tips and tutorial recommendations that I could watch and read up on before getting into DCS? Also, what joystick do you guys recommend?
One thing I like to emphasize for new players is, DCS is a platform that provides the planes, and each plane is a whole game in and of itself. So there is no one "DCS tutorial" that will cover you, you need to research as much as you can about the individual plane you want to fly. I personally use the real-life aircraft manuals. For tactics, same thing, turn to the real-life sources. Fighter Combat by Robert Shaw is a good overview. But any practical tactical advice will have to be tailored to your specific plane & mission. They are all very different. I use the X52 Pro, which I recommend, but there may be better entry-level joysticks others would know more about. As soon as you learn to start up, operate, take-off, and land the plane, I recommend finding a good wingman or squadron to fly with ASAP. You will learn much quicker with a real person. But put in the work first, study until you are reasonably comfortable flying the plane solo.
For a starter but lasting stick, go with the Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS. It's a stick throttle combo that provides everything you need. It's a plastic set but super durable while remaining comfortable. It has 4 hats, and a lot of buttons lol. It runs a tad bit pricey but nothing like a Warthog, it runs around 100 USD usually, I got mine on Amazon. It has a paddle switch on the rear of the throttle that you can perfectly use as a rudder, therefore making rudder pedals unnecessary. Overall, I really suggest it.
SeaQuark Sims Dude, your videos are awesome, they look better than some movies, keep up the good work, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you making these videos!
I'm not an expert in modern jets, so add salt grains to following: F-5 has fixed, gyro, and radar gunsight. I like the radar sight but radar on & lock will give indications on the bandit's RWR, often causes them to jink. So unless the enemy is 100% aware of me and already defending, I leave it off. The gyro mode I personally don't like, so I leave it fixed in those situations.
Addendum: actually in this video you can see me using both the fixed and the gyro at different times. Anyway, I don't fly the F-5 much anymore, most of my time is in the F-86.
I can't speak to WT, haven't flown it in years. In DCS I would say it depends on the pilot and on the aircraft. I absolutely love the Gyro sight in the P-51 with manual ranging, it gives reliable deflection in a turn, yet I can still keep the Fixed sight up at the same time, which is useful for snapshots. What I dislike about many gyro sights is that you lose a fixed reference-- so if you end up in a scenario that is not ideal for the gyro, the "floating" sight just throws you off. My ideal guns-only scenario is a brief snapshot from a boom and zoom anyway, not a high-deflection turn-fight. For this reason I don't bother anymore with the F-86's radar sight-- the firing opportunity is so brief, I don't have time to fiddle with the sight, I'd rather concentrate on flying the aircraft.
Sort of. Keep your speed as high as possible. Then at just the right moment, turn as hard as you can without stalling a wing or blacking out, and add one notch of flaps-- if you're really desperate add 2 notches. That's basically the only way you can turn with them. But in the process you will lose most of your speed. It will temporarily give you angles, but afterwards you'll be a sitting duck.
I am new to content creating and this is one of the best DCS videos I have ever seen. Do you have any advise on how I can make videos of this quality? Did you learn by trial and error or did you watch instructional videos on youtube? Thanks.
A program called VoiceAttack translates voice commands into key settings. SRS is a different program, which simulates multiplayer radio communications via the cockpit's radio controls.
ah voice attack, i know this from elite, didn't know it could be integrated into DCS, thanks for the reply though, even after two years, fantastic video.
awesome stuff as always Quark, are you going to be doing some WW2 stuff again with the spitfire release? I've been re-training myself the WW2 birds again, would love to fly with you again.
You bet. I've been hopping on whatever WW2 server is up and running. Seems like there isn't quite yet a definitive WW2 server that checks all the boxes, perhaps there won't be until Normandy. But in the meantime, I've been alternating between ACG, Burning Skies, and Steel Balls.
This is Top Gun level cinematography. Just incredible. Perfect music, great radio chatter too.
The Drive soundtrack really makes it
"Shoulda watched where you're going pal" right before ripping him to shreds was incredibly badass.
He sounded like a mercenary
I worked on F5s in real life. They are incredible little dog fighters!
What would you compare them to. Mirage 2000C ? Such a neat ship.
i've argued for many years that when the isht hits the fan and tech support/systems founder, the F5 will be the master....thoughts?
@chuck cline You lucky son of a gun, I'd pay to be able to work on 'em.

Smooth flying, excellent dogfighting, deadly aim, and wonderful editing. I’m doing a video series on the F-5 and your video is is inspiring!

Hello SeaQuark :D Please I have a question about P-51D. Can Mustang out turn 109 at high speed?
