Budget Paint Job

- Today Nathan calls in dads help to paint the 80 Series and take a big step towards getting it back on the road. This LS1 twin locked weapon will not only be unstoppable when wheeling now but look good doing it as well. Dad has painted a few cars in his day but he has his work cut out for him this time, spray painting in this shed was not exactly a walk in the park.
Seeing how well this budget paint job came up, I have a feeling this will will end up being one highly modified 80 series landcruiser when Nathan is finished with it.

I drive past that hilux all the time, great to see there are a couple of 4x4 boys close doing some cool builds
Just got my 80 during Christmas they are great rigs
Especially when they have a v8 in them !

This was the factory 80 series silver colour, it originally was two tone with maroon lower half but he painted it all the one colour

How did the paintjob hold? I have a 80 as well and I am contemplating painting it myself...
It’s going pretty good at the moment, probably could have used a little more time and careful preparation before painting if anything but apart from that no issues

Why didn't you go with a raptor line?
I think nathan prefers the paint look, I might have gone raptor line though. I think it looks good

What size compressor do you think would be minimum for me to do my bus at home? Is there any compressors I could buy at any Aussie stores that would be big enough
The one we used was about 250 Litres per minute flow rate (9CFM) but you could get away with something a bit smaller. Bunnings sell them or Super-cheap or you could even hire one from Brisbane Hire Service like we did.
I have a 80 would love to paint it, how much???
If you can do everything yourself I think it end up costing around $1000 including paint and hiring some tools!
