I was a student at UTEP when Gillispie was our basketball coach. It was amazing what he did, and though I wish he had stayed I don't blame him for leaving. His ambition, drive, and hard work carried his teams far, but that's a double edged sword. That relentless drive was also his downfall. With experience I'm sure he's learned what to do this time around. I hope he does well at Tarleton. All the best Coach Gillispie.
Strongly disagree. He does carry some "baggage" though, so I understand the doubters. But Dave Bliss?? Let's get real here. There's a difference between having a drinking problem and trying to cover up a murder, paying players to sign, and character assassination to cover up murder and your own violations. Bliss told multiple lies to men he was fully aware were federal investigators. Gillispie made some mistakes, but you've got it in reverse, You're comparing apples to oranges. That's like comparing Eddie Sutton (again mostly a drinking issue) with Rick Pitino, an amoral man rotten to his "Catholic" core. You need to get some perspective.

Come on man. Can’t compare Gillispie to Bliss. Coach Gillispie is a great coach and he will do a great job.
