      lol same. Just picked me up a 07 450 3 days ago. its squirting antifreeze everywhere. Replacing radiator but might as well just do a top end rebuild while I'm at it.

    Many thanks for sharing. I've got a 2006 RMZ450 and it is a fantastic bike. Would love a 5th gear but having grown up on two strokes, I really like the 220 lbs versus the 250 lbs of the newer RMZs. You guys sharing on youtube are awesome. Found an FCR car rebuild video and after doing the mid-body seals it runs like a new bike. Best,

    I’m rebuilding the same bike at the moment, that oil prime trick is a good one , I never thought of doing it with head on to get oil up to the journals.

      This will ensure that the filter and lubrication system are ready to go, no dry starts. Just have to be sure the cam chain doesn’t roll up on the crank sprocket. Thanks for watching and for your feedback.

      @@restoroosterohv everyone thinks that knock is rod knock but its actually normal on the Suzuki's they are just loud bikes everyone that ive heard and owned sounds like that

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  Рік тому

      @@kickassdirtbiker4607 it was actually the stator side main bearing. I should have replaced it while I had it apart. There was up and down play in it.. Pulled the engine and replaced them, problem solved. I agree that they are noisy engines but this was more than normal. Hard to hear in the vid.

    Excellent video, I really enjoyed watching it! I am curious what valve springs you used. Are they the stock ones or stiffer ones for the steel valves? I have an 05 bike like this and as far as I'm aware they don't have a rev limiter being carbureted.

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  2 дні тому +1

      Thank you for your comment. It was a while ago but I believe I used a stiffer spring for the steel valves. Your bike definitely has a rev limiter unless someone put an aftermarket cdi that removed it.

    So did this model use stainless valves? And the timing spacing is different on a 16 which is 14 teeth.
    I found my issue: throttle cable rubbed a wire on the tip over sensor

    The engine consumes oil and emits brown smoke, hard to start (light crank), does it have anything to do with the decompression valve. Good video, greetings from Bosnia.

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  Рік тому +1

      An engine that consumes oil will either have worn piston rings or the valve seals are leaking. Either way, I see a top end rebuild in your future. White smoke will generally be burning water/coolant, black smoke is running rich (too much fuel) and blue smoke is burning oil. Good luck with your bike and thanks for watching.

    Rooster man I’m doing an 07 rmz450 and the cam chain is too tight to even install it’s brand new and it’s super tight I started with the exhaust cam but it’s too tight to even go over the intake cam

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  24 дні тому

      Do you have the tensioner out completely? If so, be sure it’s not bound up around the crank gear. After that, you may have the wrong chain.

    • @ReelLyferOS
      @ReelLyferOS 24 дні тому +1

      @@restoroosterohv yea i had the tensioner out and it’s was seated around the crank teeth but I came to the realization that I just bought a cheap cam chain even though it had the correct part number it’s just too small. Have you ever bought something with the part number but doesn’t fit? I mean it was only 13 bucks off eBay so I went ahead and got one from Rocky Mountain for 50 bucks we’ll see what happens

      @ReelLyferOS sometimes the aftermarket companies will put the OEM part number so that you have a reference, but obviously that doesn’t work always.

    Hello I had a question for you and maybe you could answer it for me. I ordered a new set of cams for my 2005 suzuki rmz and the exhaust cam didn't come with the auto decompression assembly that I see on your exhaust cam. I looked online at the parts manual and didn't see one listed as a part you could buy. I called hotcams and they couldn't find this part either. Is this something that is required to put on the exhaust cam for it to function?

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  Рік тому

      You will not be able to kick the 450 without the decompression assy. I believe you need to use the decomp mech from the stock cam on that.

    What is the bench tool you use and what is that you doing with the 2 screwdriver or the flat head?

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  10 місяців тому

      Not sure which tool you are referring to as I used a lot of them. If you are talking about the blue handled screwdriver, I am using it against the piston to locate top dead center.

    Are the rmz 450 engines reliable???? I have a suzuki rmz 450 2007. What should i do to not have a problem??

    • @restoroosterohv
      @restoroosterohv  Рік тому

      Yes. Maintenance is key. Change your oil and filter often. Keep your air filter cleaned and oiled. Adjust the chain when needed and clean and lube after every ride. Pay attention to manufacturer recommendations on cam chain and tensioner replacement intervals and keep your valves in spec. Treat em good and they will usually respond in kind.
