017 Beartooth Highway - Scary or Beautiful?

  • See 062 for a newly edited, extended version of this video.
    Beartooth Highway is a 69-mile-long mountain highway that joins Red Lodge, MT and Yellowstone National Park's Northeast Entrance. Hwy 212 reaches its summit at Beartooth Pass at an elevation of 10,947ft and is not for the faint of heart.
    Join me on a short trip on one of the most scenic mountain roads in America. See steep drop offs, tight switchbacks, vast overlooks, glacial lakes and see the summit from hundreds of feet above from a drone. In 4k.
    And check out Grand Adventure's trip to the Beartooth Highway and the weather he faced in the middle of June. • Ep. 45: Beartooth High...

      @@MainlightDrone It’s a great vid and weird how it didn’t explode like the other one. I am filming this weekend as I have sat,sun and mon off and have an idea that I am going to try that hasn’t been done before and hope it takes off as a trend. It’s worth a go and if it does crap it does crap lol and will try something different lol. Imagine the scene from Bluesbrothers where Carrie Fisher has just used the rocket launcher on the apartment where the brothers and cops all fall through the floor and then start to move around afterwards, the sounds of the bricks shuffling, they stand up and pick rubble off themselves and dust themselves off on their shoulders. I have been over the Beartooth in both directions several times and I regard it as one of the most beautiful places in America. Coming up from Cody, on the Clark Fork Highway is a little easier than going through Yellowstone Park, with its 45 mph speed limit.

      You did such an excellent video. I keep watching it in awe loving the 🎶. Such great memory. Was so scared 😨 riding down as at top I ran into a t storm with lighting /hail where I cringed to a reflective road side marker under a tarp freezing in low 50'sF waiting for it to pass. Periods of showers and wind. Rim brakes adequate only with alot of attention and good blend of fear. Stayed the night in Red Lodge with a fellow co worker of years gone by. Ended my tour in Bozeman. Wanna ride down from.Yellowknife, NT Canada 🇨🇦 but may have to wait another year due to c19.
      Again, you created an awesome video. Much appreciated 🙏!!!

    Beartooth Pass Highway is NOT scary at all compared to Red Mountain Pass in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. Beartooth Pass HAS GUARDRAILS, Red Mountain Pass has hardly any GUARDRAILS at all in it's 26 mile highway. About 3 to 4 miles south of Ouray(pronounced U-ray, named after a Ute Native American Indian Chief) where's NO GUARDRAILS, it drops off to about 800 FEET DOWN to the river gorge below. The highest avalanche paths per mile in all of Canada and the United States there. Rock and mud slides happen. Deer, mountain sheep and goats to avoid there. There's a 8% road grade increase going south from Ouray. All these factors make this the most dangerous paved mountain pass highway in all of Canada and the United States combined. I heard this winter that this Pass is the tenth most dangerous pass worldwide. A semi-truck driver that goes by UA-cam channel name of Riding Shotgun has driven mostly west of St. Louis, Missouri. He has driven across this pass in different seasons. There's no GUARDRAILS because alot places there's no room to put in GUARDRAILS. Also the highway department can't get snow, rock and tree debris from avalanches off the highway with GUARDRAILS. It's beautiful scenery but dangerous.

    • @MainlightDrone
      @MainlightDrone  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your great comment. I don't find it scary either especially against other roads we've been on as well. I've been to Riding Shotgun's channel. He has some great stuff. Have you even been on Mosquito Pass that goes from Fairplay to Leadville?
