We've got a 2014 fortuner here in Thailand and it's a bloody gem. Only done 100,000km and serviced every 5,000km and it's still going like a new car. Loved the William Shakespeare song at the end!!!

I had stopped for a while didn't see how your family is doing but now I see Mina has a big changed. Since you have her she can't speak any English at all but now she could learn things so quickly and her English is incredible. It compared to me, I took at least two years to know how to speak English and can communicate to the people who speak English well, but all I see about Mina here is very well done.

In Australia we can't afford the good brands so we're buying the cheaper Chinese cars and they're everywhere. The Fortuner is $60,000AU and a Great Wall Tank is $40,000AU
Been very happy with my Fortuner, bought it brand new in 2017, was 55,000 then, price has gone up a fair bit now then eh. Use the ev for most of our city driving now though.
Just done my marriage visa extension last month, paid 3.000.000 kip in total, and got both the stay permit and the visa from the immigration office, i did not had to go anywhere else. It took about 2 weeks ... This is my 2nd extension, and everythong costed around 3M kip 2 years ago as well. Thanks for the tip BTW, You told me about the new marriage visa back in 2020 or so during covid :)

They do, but not as much with the skin whitener. You'll see school children all over Laos riding bicycles to school one handed as the other is holding an umbrella.

Todd,do you renew your Stay Permit on the expiry date or before ? I always end up losing about a week as I go 1 week before expiry date. The lady at window 1 told me I can go on the day of expiry if it falls on a week day. The info on my stay permit says apply 14 days before (did this on firts renewal and lost a fortnight)they always date my new permit from the day of application not the expiry date of the old permit,the visa is also dated from the date of the stay permit application and not the date of visa application.Wondering what is your method of renewal,and do you also loose out if you apply before the expiry date. Always applied for stay permit on the week it was due for the reason you stated. This year though I applied 6 weeks early to change the date that it's due so we're not interrupted during Mina's school holidays as we'll no doubt be away on the road at that time.
There's no way I'd buy a new car now. For over a decade, manufacturers have been adding lots of unnecessary crap (Apple connectivity, screens, extraneous items that drain the battery) that's getting harder for mechanics to fix. The EVs are at the extreme end of that, as very few mechanics are experienced with them yet.
@uiski7956 actually, the day after they started a sale for them. $29KUS.. The gov' are really pushing EVs here. The tax I mentioned was an average on engine size for cars.. starting at 31% for less than 1000 cc going up to 220% for more than 5000cc. The Fortuner was taxed at 82% for having less than 3000cc.. over that, next tax bracket is 127%. So maybe the gov tax EVs differently 🤔

I am not a buyer of a new car in today's market, that's for sure - call me old fashioned! But that BZ is attractive from a non-tax point of view. $30,000 for a new car, and possibly a new battery in ten years could be cheaper than a 100% tax on some ICE cars...big gamble no doubt!

Have a Toyota RAV4 for over 10 years. Never needed a tune up, still runs like new, with the original spark plugs......very reliable brand.
