Enjoy this cinematic melange of Kraftwerk´s last masterpiece with one of the best remixes of the trip-hop era.
The Aloof remix of Mono´s Slmcea Girl (1997) is a perfect showcase for constructing a chilled, downtempo track that build and builds with dramatic tension until its great release.
And all this works so amazingly well with a slowed down version of Kraftwerks ode to musique concrete. Who would have thought that their tuned percussion and pastoral synth-arpeggios would fit into the drama of Mono.
The last 3 minutes build to a sublime crescendo! Kraftwerks synth cadences form a perfect dynamic counterpart to the grand finale to the Mono song.
The video is taken from METROPIUS.
Mixed live with no overduby and no programming.

Well, sV, you did manage to get two of my favorite bands together; but, I'm always the skeptical one here. This really, really works well together.

Not only is this a great remix, but once again you introduce me to new music (I had never heard of Mono before) and new ways of living! (that's a Destroyer song!)

Mono only released one album "Formica Blues" and it´s a forgotten, overlooked classic. You should try to get your hands on it!
There were so many great trip-hop bands back in the 90´s: Mono, Baby Fox, The Aloof, Coco and The Bean, etc. Sadly most of them were overshadowed by Massive Attack and Portishead. There is still so much to (re-)discover.
The singer from Mono would later form Violet Indiana together with Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins).
