Seeing the absolute Future Music God that is Krust just kind of geek out on music like a normal dude is a fantastic thing to see. And great tunes too, but no surprise there, of course.
I would love to experience the 90s once again.. when you're only 15, going out to the party to listen to some fresh cosmic music that was called drum n bass for the first time, and enjoy it to the fullest, because you have no idea whether you're going to hear all these tracks ever again. It was always about the rare music, music that wasn't on a radio ...
I used to get my jungle / d&b fix on a Saturday at Eastern Bloc, got the hookup early for the 12"s out the following Monday. If you know you know. Krust a legend to the scene. Great to see you still on it man. ✌️
I was also confused, but it seems there is an explanation for this. The 44G needle has a spherical head and theoretically can be placed on either side. Perhaps it was a little dull on one side, so he turned it.
Excited for this. I've been spinning vinyl for 30 years now. Both my mom and dad were in the scene late 70s early 80s in Germany do i was raised on kraftwerk und African bambatta. 1st experience of the club I was 9, my dad brought me with him to a discotech on the beach on the Island of Crete, Greece "James brown is Dead" is the track i can vividly remember hearing him play. I'm 39 now and Elektro Global is my show on soundcloud where I try to play the best electro from around the world all spun using turntables. ... So respect for you guys at the show. How can i get on one of these episodes. I have been a part of alot of underground. Stuff
3rd Party/Kemet... Mark X’s label output during 93 and 94 was extremely special, some fantastic releases from those cats. These jungle dives are the best, keep them coming!
Future Unknown changed my life when it first dropped on my first trip to London. Gilles dropped it at "That's How It Is" and was kind enough to send me a white label before I left back to the States. Big Up from Los Angeles OG Krust!!!
Used to have my techs set up like that, supposedly better tracking for scratching, less chance of skipping...not sure if it actually helped though lol.
Those raves he mentioned at the beginning were wicked, used to hear Easygroove, Die, Suv, Top Buzz and Doc Scott there. That last Neil Trix track is bad, had to link up my bass bins to the TV for that 1💪
Krust is one of me fave producers remixers out there. Stoked to see him pull out that Goldie remix with Scarface and Ice Cube, was thinking about this latest this morning, missing my vinylcopy from yonks ago. Wonder how that would sound if Krust had made a remix of that or somesuch. The 4Hero remixes are totally aesome too. Eminently playable
Mighty Krust, still remember the first time I heard Jazz Note and Burning, absolute legend! Man Funded By Drugs...I mean Future Beyond Dance just had that incredible underground sound back in the day, much respect!!
It actually shows that way in the Shure setup guide. It's meant to mimic a straight tonearm and reduce skips but personally I find a normal setup equally jump proof, even when scratching pretty hard. Having this angle also adds additional wear to one side of the groove and the output levels aren't as balanced. Peaceeee 👊🏻
Krust! So good to hear some of your selections. I’ve got some tapes from back in the day with Nicky Blackmarket dropping a few of these gems. Meant to be heard at an underground party with a sound system that rattles your teeth and the rafters!
Grooverider 1993 NYE, remastered from Edge 6-Tape Pack www.mixcloud.com/eminusx/grooverider-1993-nye-ah-complete-rebuild-and-remaster/ one of best mixes ive ever heard...this mix was never out of my walkman at 6th form ;-)...this and JJ Frost Edge one from 1994
@@maipai4282 I only went to a few as it was a long way away from where I lived, I went to 2 nights at the Edge in Cov and Atomic Jam and Pure X in Brum 2 or 3 times, mainly trying to see Doc Scott, JJFrost and Grooverider wherever I could. I was mostly around Manchester where there wasnt much proper Jungle in early-mid 90s, my main spot was The Orbit in Leeds as I was a massive Detroit Techno head aswell. Last night I went to in midlands was about 97 or 98. Still got several of the original tape packs tho!
Imports arrived on a Saturday? Used to get mine on the Thursday as they were being taken out of the boxes in Edinburgh. Most were sold out by Friday afternoon....If you haven't heard Warhead drop in a DNB club your missing out. That opening bassline could cause plaster to come off the ceiling and rattle windows 💥
@@LKeet6 wow. opinion is opinion. mixed dnb and jungle for an extremely long time, and its a sub par tune. it was not even a masterpiece in the year it was produced, let alone beyond. sorry you disagree...
This was excellent! It had me looking through my own collection. I’m so happy to see Krust is a well spoken guy unlike some of his contemporaries who say “you get what I’m sayin” at the end of every sentence. I like this guy even more now. He’d make a wonderful neighbor! Also awesome he pulled mainly ‘Ardkore records to show off. He was having so much fun showing off his collection too. Shame “ROAR: The 90s Podcast” called it quits as I would love to see a 4 hour interview with Krust.
Yes you know the one , Letchlade free party ,all the ones with Dennis (easygroove) Circus warp days . Some bad choons , some b sides back then we're if not better than the A side .Good ole days the eclipse ,never get em back ,glad to have been there all the way .
man, this guy is such a total legend...so happy you guys got him on!!! LEGEND!!
Just had his coded language on my turntable a couple of days ago. What an album, aged a lot better than most of the stuff from 20years ago!
Future Unknown 😏

Yeah I bought it back then. I love it!
94-95 was absolutely magical. What a time to be alive.
Bristol LEGEND! Saw him walking past Primark the other week.
I can't imagine the Jungle scene without this man. Big respect

That cartridge mounting on the headshell is driving me mental. Hahha.

DJ Krust - Future Unknown, this one will be forever on mind, killer tune after all those years.

Krust GOAT of jungle.

..those were the days..love the selection..big ups to krust..pure legend 🖤🖤🖤
Ooh that FBD project tune shreds 😍
"Journeys" is one of my favourites from FBD projects. One of the best jungle tunes ever made imo 👌🏾
Get Krust to do a listening party, can play em like this, doesn't even have to mix. I'd tune in every week
Full Cycle Records was always so so brilliantly dope....and that joke about the record shop´s was a hard hitter....
Oh fuck yes, the D.O.P.E. track is incredible, indeed. Listen to this track in full, nothing is better than dark, frightening jungle rave, J'Ai Peur!
Whoa! Thank you man. We should all have a TIL moment at least once a day.👍🏾✊🏾
Such a steep angle between his headshell and cartridge. Gonna have to try that!!!
I knew about this technique but never pushed it quite that far~
I couldn't wrap my head around the angle!! What's the benefit?
Usually you angle it like that if you’re scratching. However, applying it with the screws and bolts (yep) is a bit of a mare.
@@cormacjordan7173 from what I understand, it simulates a straight tonearm and can improve stability for scratching and heavy cueing
It actually shows that way in the Shure setup guide. It's meant to mimic a straight tonearm and reduce skips but personally I find a normal setup equally jump proof, even when scratching pretty hard.
Having this angle also adds additional wear to one side of the groove and the output levels aren't as balanced.

Came here to moan about the cartridge being angled like that. Didn’t know it was “a thing”. Gonna stick with my Ortofon Club MKII :)
