    hey bro i have been in the planning stages for a while getting closer to starting . my buddy did a 2 wd and made his own mounts to keep factory ac but he also added to the mounting surface to move the mount back . on 4x4 they use a motor perch . if you were to weld onto that perch a plate that went more towards the rear of the truck you could slide your dingos back and us factory ac bracket . dont forget you would also have to weld in some gussets to support plate extension . just an idea that im going to run with !

      That’s what I did, everything lines up just fine if you move the linkage on the frame down to the second hole for the first hole on the bracket and drill a new one for the second hole. The brass linkage that goes from the column to the bracket works just fine too. You just need to adjust the locking nut further down the shaft.

    Your video is awesome, hilarious and scary when I saw your gauges haha! It’ll clean up nice once you get them mounted how you want. You might of just helped me make my mind up on which way I want to go about wiring it though. I have a harness and HP tuners, just not real savvy with it.

    • @maxwolthuis
      @maxwolthuis  Рік тому

      Thanks man! When it comes to powering the harness I used the big fat ignition wire that powered the distributor. From there the harness has two sides for both sides of the engine, once you start clipping and plugging things in it falls into place, each connector is different so you can’t really mix up connections. It’s not too hard, if you have to lengthen any of the wires on the harness for whatever reason I’d get some heat shrink butt connectors. I have absolutely no regrets with the swap I did, it’s runs reliably and is great on the highway. If you have any specific questions feel free to reply to this post.

      @@maxwolthuis thanks for the quick reply and good stuff to know. What specifically makes you wish you’d have saved your $ and went with Holley terminator X?

    • @maxwolthuis
      @maxwolthuis  Рік тому

      @@bowtiebuilding if you ever want to tune your stock computer you’ll have to buy tuning software and tuning credits. To me if I was going to spend all that money to tune my computer (ie: upgraded cam, adjusting shift points on automatic trans, boost, etc) then it’s worth it to just get the terminator x. The tuning software for the system is free on holleys website. Since this video has posted I actually got a terminator x max with my tax return and I love it. I’ve never tuned with anything else but the software is learnable and simple to use. The sky is the limit. You can throw on turbos, nos, supercharger, pro charger or whatever you want and the tuning software will never be your weak point. I’ve been using it for about 4 months now and there is a big difference in the way my truck drives. The shift points are better at WOT and the cruising is smooth. If you plan on leaving the engine stock then a stock computer And eBay harness isn’t a bad option either.

      @@maxwolthuis I’ve got a 6.0 with forged pop up pistons and a stage 1 BTR turbo cam. I’m gonna probably swap the turbo cam for a milder one. But I’m not a stock kind of guy 😆. You’re video was the most helpful I’ve found so far. What about a link to the terminator kit you bought?

    • @maxwolthuis
      @maxwolthuis  Рік тому

      @@bowtiebuilding sure thing! The exact part number I got for mine was 550-916. www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-550-916
      Keep in mind that I bought the one for a drive by cable setup with ev1 style injector connectors and 4l60/4l80 transmission controls. This is also a unit for a gen III LS with a 24 tooth reluctor wheel. Between each part number the main thing that changes is the sub harness for the injectors. So if you know exactly what injectors you have or which ones you’d like to run you can pick the unit with the correct harness so that you can avoid having to buy injector connector adapters. If you’d like you could just tell me what your setup is and I can reply with the correct part number for your application (ie: year of motor, injector type, and what transmission you will be using. Also, here is a link to a video I just put out about my new fuel system. LS Fuel system

      The tcase works just fine with that adapter plate I mentioned in this video. The stock shift linkage for 4x4 also worked just fine, I just had to adjust it. The front drive shaft also worked just fine. I get up to highway speeds every day and I’ve never noticed any noises or vibrations👌

    • @maxwolthuis
      @maxwolthuis  2 роки тому +1

      At 10:55 I went into detail about the harness and the computer. I got my harness off eBay and just had to lengthen some of the wires. Also keep in mind that using a cable throttle body is a lot more simple than using the drive by wire type. If you want to use the cable make sure you get an engine computer from a 5.3 with red and blue connectors for a drive by cable setup. Also, you’ll need to send your computer to someone to do a VATS delete. I found a guy on eBay that did it for cheap, you’ll tell them what engine it is, what temperature you want your high speed and low speed fans to turn on and off, your gear ratio, and if you are using a 4l60, a 4l80, or a non electric trans like a manual or a 700r4… with all that being said I wish I saved my money to buy a holly terminator x instead. But the eBay stuff will work just fine to get you on the road. If you would like a video specifically on this subject let me know and which items to focus on specifically.

      they are the us wheel 66-8960. The stock wheels on these trucks are hub centric, these new wheels have a bigger center bore and require a custom hub ring adapter that you can have made through a company like www.uswheeladapters.com…which I will never buy because they are solid steel and the most off-roading I ever do is go down a dirt road. I used these lug nuts Dorman 711-109 - Dorman Lug Nuts www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-711-109

    • @maxwolthuis
      @maxwolthuis  Рік тому +1

      You are actually the first! The engine was from a 2003 suburban that got rear ended and the trans was a stage 2 built unit I bought from performabuilt also a 2003 unit. If you want to use a stock computer make sure you get the right year of computer for either a drive by cable or drive by wire throttle body, if that info doesn’t make sense be sure to ask for clarification. If it does then great 👍

    The advance adapter for 60e to 208.. VSS hookup how was that.. Simple plug and play with your harness?
    You drive by wire or cable? If wire did you use a bracket for the pedal to mount or just fab up something?

    • @maxwolthuis
      @maxwolthuis  Рік тому

      All plug and play, super easy! The kit comes with a reluctor ring collar that you need to put on the output shaft of the 60e and as long as it lines up with the sensor hole of the adapter it will work just fine👌 as far as the throttle body goes on this specific application I did cable for the simplicity but if you use a dbw with a pcm with a blue green connector you can actually wire up cruise control through the tac module. All the swaps I’ve done with dbw I usually go to the junkyard or eBay and grab a tac module with a pedal form a gm truck or suburban, I’ll put the pedal in a Vice and beat the hell out of it with a mini sledge and grind on it until it’s shaped the same way as the stock pedal then bolt it to the firewall, works like a charm every time.
