I love MHW-3Bomber stuff but I agree that their branding is super clunky. I'd like to think that they choose to spend their money on their products rather than marketing. Also, I'm not afraid to say that I'd get the tamper that has the satisfying click just for the sound alone even if it didn't make my espresso better.
Great review. Also agree about the branding. It is obvious an engineer... likely an aircraft enthusiast or aircraft engineer branded this. They should just go with "Bomber". Keep it up my man, love your channel!
Do they have a flat base alternative for the tamper, or one that you can purchase? If not, do you know whether it could be swapped out for a third party tamper base?
I’ve used the entire Yu series, except for their uni-portafilter, and unfortunately, they’re not compatible with other brands’ accessories. And would not recommend it to anyone, although their build quality is amazing. But sometimes quality isn’t everything. It has to work first! I tried using a La Marzocco portafilter, a Sage (Breville) portafilter, and a Normcore 58mm portafilter with its portafilter holder. However, instead of providing firm stabilisation, all three were hanging loosely and felt wobbly. The Yu tamper also created a lot of mess-each time I tamped, coffee grounds would jump and even get into the tamper’s holes. As for the WDT tool, it only rotates in one spot, despite being advertised as a tool that evenly distributes across the entire puck. In reality, a levelling tool does a much better job. I’m excited to try their new SE Pro tools, but if they have the same compatibility issues as the Yu series, this will probably be the last time I buy from this brand.
They should have sent the PRO WDT tool, it looks far better and more robust with a newer design. This one doesn't interest me - the other one does though. They recently released a PRO line, better stuff.
I totally agree on the branding. Esthetics matter (at least to me) and I, therefore, won’t be purchasing any of their items as a result of their clunky logo/branding. I will stick with my Normcore, Saint Anthony Industries, and Weber Workshops puck prep tools.

The WDT is fantastic. If you are looking to speed up your morning workflow, its an amazing tool for consistency + speed

They have both flat and ridged options!

Aren’t these just chinese existig products with a logo on top of it?
No, they're doing their own product design and manufacturing
@LifestyleLab_ thanks! That's good to know!
Their products are solid. I use their basket
Which one made it into your workflow?
At least watch the whole video... 3:54

Just the logo would be more than enough.
I actually think the written branding on their products looks really good, leans into the "bomber jacket" aesthetic I think they are going for
I use beno brand which is essentially the same thing for a lower price
I like their design and putting their name distinctively on there product, that use to mean they were proud of their product.
