    Wagner's Wotan is in my shortlist for greatest fictional character ever. His joys and sorrows, his triumphs and his failures are truly universal in scope.

      I don't know, I think he's kind of a dick. He never does what he thinks is morally right, he just selfishly does what will benefit him in the short term. He continuously gets punished for these choices, and the entire world eventually pays.

      @ohauss 4 роки тому +3

      @@BumbusBumbi I think the reason for him not doing what is morally right is the fight within him between the wants and needs of a man and a father vs. the duties and indelible fate of a God.

    This music is groundbreaking, this piece in particular, notice the way Wagner created that constant feel of movement in the piece. The feel of the fire dancing all around while Wotan's daughter slumbers...SO GOOD! I get chills. And the conductor did it RIGHT!

      +Alex Daniel I KNOW RIGHT!?!? I was saying on another video of his how so many conductors ruin this piece by making it all one long drawn out monotone feel, but theres so MUCH to play with. so much dynamic to go for. i love this conductor's ear =)

    I love my Land of Mothers - Austria - I love Richard Wagner and especially his Fire Magic , but the Ride of the Valkyries as well. I learned to know Richard Wagner, when I was a young soldier in the Austrian Army and one of my Trainers, son of a very wellknown Austrian Composer and Conductor, taught us - his platoon - the works of Richard Wagner. I was 31 years int THE ARMY - and I STILL LOVE WAGNER:

    He should have stuck with Mozart. Not a Wagner Voice at all. He can only
    make it happen in concert when he sings the Farewell solo or at the Met
    with artificial ampifyiers. Every time I hear him in the Vienna State
    Opera his Voice is gone midways through almost every opera. For instance
    in Holländer. He is just a marketing trick. The real tragedy though is
    the fact that nobody tells him and he doesn't get it himself.
