I love Wagner. I listened to the Ring by Karajan and Karl Boehm.... both superlative. This execution is astounding!!! The musical landscape is inspiring, wide, deep breathing..., epic, but not "loud". Not a bright day of sun, but a nordic late afternoon. It is possible to feel all the human struggle of dramatic characters, despite they role of gods. Deeply moving. An extraordinary execution as this Opus deserve.

Beautiful animation, scenery.., never saw it in such a fashion. I spent four years in Switzerland visiting places Wagner was inspired by to compose all of his wonderful harmonies...thank you!

No farewell scene in the entire history of music comes close to this one by Richard Wagner.
The farewell of a father to his daughter.

I know its a big ask, but you REALLY should do the whole cycle. This is epic! The Opera world has not made to master piece accessible in its entirety.

One of my fondest memories was finding this album in a used record shop years ago. It was a blind buy, but it was love at first hearing. This and Die Frist ist um have always been my favorite tracks from that old record.

Very great work! Thank you for making this beautiful artwork and sharing this version of Wotan's Farewell! I must admit that I fell in love with "Wotan" with the Hans Swarowsky (and Prague Orchestra) version of the Ring. Wotan is sung by Rolf Polke and all the singers used microphones (thus can be heard very clear). Years later, I was into the Solti Ring. But very disappointed with (at this date poor voice) of Hans Hotter during Wotans Farewell. This version of Knappertsbusch, both London the singer and the orchestra, is now a revelation to me. Thank you so much! I saw your video several times and also shared it with few "Ring" lovers I know. Of course with credit to you. Would you mind if I asked you to make another art video for "Höre mit Sinn, was ich dir sage" WWV 86D Act I (Götterdämmerung, Waltraude to Brünnhilde)? I am so into the "Wotan"/Götter-Leitmotiv heard during Waltraudes part, I could literally see Wotan sitting on his throne...numb, but proud, but sad. If you would cast your "magic" AI Artwork, that would be marvellous! I heard(I mean: heard by my heart) this part once in Dessau (~2014), with the late Ulf Paulsen as Wotan, and it blew my mind. Sorry for the novel, I just wanted to show you my awe for your work and ask for more. Would that be possible?

Love the paintings that accompany the music. A few are very well done. I took pictures off my phone to use for reference later on. I painted an acyclic of Gotterdammerung and Brunhilde's Immolation.

I agree. The AI software program however (Midjourney v5) did not like putting a woman in armour for some reason.

Apart from the lack of helmet and breastplate, one other thing worried me: in the final picture her left leg appears to be lying beside her at a little distance, but if AI is involved that would explain it.

With the one exception of Hans Hotter, George London made his contemporaries who took on Wotan sound like they were middle schoolers by comparison.

Knappertsbusch brings back to us the real Wagner, an immense musical genius, and a deep explorer of human emotions. Wagner paints his characters with the infinite colors of human Soul, gods and humans at the same time.

Well put. Wagner's theater background shines through in the central figures of the ring. So much of the core characters feels aimed for effect.

Ever since he was banished, the creature blindly wondered if the dark twigs of the forest, the speckled sunlight guiding him on his way, he engulfed every sunburn in his shimmering throat as if he had never tasted nor seen such beauty. For even with dirty feet, torn by wandering brambles and a halo of hair that has now turned into a mane, he has found his belief in the setting sun. Eventually, however, this journey came to an end. Not distinct, but with one breath, the blind man knew that the immortal world he had known for all his many years had drifted away from his mortal body. The swamp men and their gem-decorated trees echoing in the breeze, the ethereal handmaids of the earth singing seductive melodies, every bird song he was accustomed to had ceased. He had finally gone to the next world. It was dark in here, and it smelled of the wet and shady valley 🧙🦹‍♀🧚
