Gale is actually a good romance option for Astarion if he stays in the Underdark, since Gale is immune to getting bitten by the spawn. Although Gale doesn't have the orb anymore in this scene, so maybe not. BTW, Astarion going to the Underdark is my favourite outcome for him, as grim and difficult as it will be. It shows so much growth for Astarion to choose to help the spawn instead of running and not facing what he did to them (although forced to). It’s the bravest decision that he could make. And no doubt Gale would be a wonderful helper by his side.
if there's anyone who would consider living in the Underdark while surrounded by traumatized vampire spawn to be an interesting opportunity for learning and discovery instead of a horrifying idea, it's Gale.
@@TricksterModeEngaged plus no doubt he would end up joining the society of brilliance and working with Omeluum and Blurg in the Underdark too. And the Myconids would prove to be a fascinating bunch of creatures for him to study (especially if he had “made friends” with them by getting rid of the Duergar and Nere). I also think the Arcane tower in the Underdark was empty too, or at least the owner was not currently living there, so there is somewhere for them to live.
Gale and Astarion make for an intriguing pair. They have an interesting dynamic in that they have a real "I can make him better, but I could also make him so much worse" thing going on. Both of them alone and scared deep down, but hiding it under a show of confidence or charm when you first meet them. Both tempted by power they feel will keep them safe and get back at the one who wronged them, but that will destroy the person they were in the process. Both afraid of being discarded when not useful. It's a recipe for either a healthy relationship based on understanding and mutual growth or just the most toxic mess possible.
@@SessVlogs haha with Shar worshipping Shadowheart and Vlaakith loving Laezel to go along with it? I guess horn-less Wyll completes that messy group too
@@KeitieKalopsia yeah I’m doing an evil Durge run, but my Durge doesn’t like people telling her what to do or those who try to kill her friends/lovers, so she told Laezel to tell Vlaakith to f*ck off. I also have my Durge being the Slayer, and have ascended Astarion and DJ Shadowheart to complete my team.
I like the way Gale says "My books are not for burning" almost as if he was scolding Astarion XD gives some "I AM NOT FOR EATING" or "STOP LICKING THE DAMN THING" vibes
Astarion (to Gale): “put your book down and come to bed” Gale: “just a minute this is fascinating” Astarion: “bed now or I start burning your books out of boredom” Gale: “you wouldn’t dare” Astarion (destructive cat told “no” mode activated): picks up his favourite book to dangle it over the fire, Gale tries to snatch it back, but they both lose their grip on it and it gets a bit burnt. (Astarion then felt bad about burning his book so he asked the other spawn to find any books they can for Gale to try to make up for it… they now own 50 copies of the Quarta Sune and he regrets asking the spawn for such a favour 😂)
This is by far my favourite ending for them and for the game in general. The ordinary Underdark ending is a bit very grim dark, but this one feels like they are both found their happiness and strength in each other and in creating an actually good "life" for the most unfortunate group of characters in the game. It is the complete counter-vision to the Ascension paths. I love it - and it's adorable.
Gale as a powerful Wizard can do so much to bring comfort to the Spawn whom most would shun at best if not persecute with extreme prejudice. They just have to do something about that pesky short human lifespan. It really is such a sweet outcome. I like to imagine they use his tower as a vacation spot, however. They deserve that much.
It’s my head canon that Gale has a new tower now in the underdark with this ending, maybe he repurposed the cleric of Mystra’s you can find in act 1.5.
Only problem is that's a lot of vampires and I'm sure there's some limiting factor. He should use the first one he is capable of to extend is life indefinitely. He just might be the only LI who's romance outcome can bring real hope a solace to the spawn. They WILL surely be a target of zealots. Ironically he's so much more useful as a man than as a lesser god. lol
He was jealous of Gale, that's why he said that, despite what some people may think Astarion doesn't like sharing. By the end of act 2 and the entirety of act 3 they sit near each other in camp, if you play as Tav. Imo, Astarion is closest with Gale after Tav, Gale even offers his blood to Astarion in one of the banters in act 3.
I also think it was just jealousy. In a lot of my play throughs it’s either Gale or Astarion I go for. They’re my highest approval rate, other than Karlach of course. Astarion wished to seduce us for protection, and how does it look that we fall for the other smooth talker of the group?
@@celestebigaignon6054 For me Gale, Astarion and Karlach are literally my favorite, they are loyal af, and yes Astarion "tries" to manipulate the player in act 1, but he's still loyal and goes along with all the shenanigans you put him through and he's so grateful if you help him with Cazador. Makes you wonder what books Astarion burned… and why (probably to get a rise out of Gale)
Astarion (to Gale): “put your book down and come to bed”

After what the spawn have been through, they deserve a book club and access to as much knowledge as they want to partake in!

Gale could show Astarion illusions of himself whenever Star needed to see himself 🥺🥺🥺
