Warren, you have been so generous with your time, and your content is mind-blowing. You have taken the time to answer some really important questions for me (and many others!) and all I want to do is say thank you. This channel has been SO inspiring. Long may it continue!!

Produce Like A Pro: Hi, and thanks for letting us suggest. Please, “Just Like Starting Over”. I was only 4 when I heard it for the first time and for some reason, it always reminded me of “The Empire Strikes Back”. I guess it must have something to do with my age and what whas going on at the time, but there was something about the voices at the end of the song, that made me think of Darth Vader 😅.

Jack’s recollections make John come across as human, full of insecurities just like the rest of us. It must have been hard for John to live up to his reputation.

Thank you both for another beautiful interview, and for sharing your personal and professional stories which bring so much to enrich us. As a teenager in the late 90s I would travel across the pond to NYC to celebrate John's birthday with lots of other fans, singing songs into the night. Now I'm a dad of an 11-year-old and my son has his records too. I can't wait to take him over one day. Best wishes to Jack and to you, Warren!

I had Double Fantasy when it was first released, just as I had all the other Lennon solo albums, but I couldn't listen to any of them until the late '90s, because his death hurt too much. When I returned to them, it was like meeting up with an old friend after years apart. Thank you, and thanks to Mr. Douglas for all of the good work he has done bringing these records into the world.

Amazing sounding album. One of the best lead vocal sounds ever (John's lead vocals on the entire album) which I *believe* is a Neumann U67, but I could be wrong. The 'stripped' version shows how fantastic the raw vocal sound is, as well as the overall mic'ing of the instruments.

Since Jack knew John so well, I'm guessing he also knew some of the guys in John's band. Maybe Jack can settle something I've wondered about for the last 39 years. Back in the summer of 1980, months before "Double Fantasy" was released, I was going to a day camp in the Bronx. One of the bus drivers who worked for the camp was this long-haired hippy who, if I remember right, was named Billy, and who us kids thought was really cool. During an overnight camping trip the camp held, Billy came along and brought an acoustic guitar with him. (I remember him singing and playing "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and "Sympathy for the Devil" for us.) At one point during that trip, he told a bunch of us kids that he knew John and Yoko, and had played in John's band. Being dopey 10 and 11-year-olds, we were eager to believe him. All these years later, I still wonder if Billy was telling us the truth, or if he was just making up stories to impress a bunch of gullible pre-teens.
I didn't buy "Double Fantasy" when it came out, but I did buy the 45 of "Starting Over" the week that was released. (For some reason, I was really into buying 45s at that age.) I was 11 years old at the time, so you can do the math on that. 😉

I was about 7 so no real idea of what was happing, but it was about now when I first starting listening to music. We had just moved house and were enrolled at the local library which had an audio section so albums were worn out before we had to return them. So it goes without saying the music of Lennon was eventually found some years later first Paul's solo albums (from the library) then the Beatles and onto Lennon.

My fondest memory of John Lennon was when he would stop by the radio station (WNEW) New York City, to spin records. He'd come in un-announced and stay for three hours. I was 20. Scott Muni and Dennis Elsis were the DJs .
