Really great explanation of power priorities! Thanks for that, I never really change any of mine, I just go with the default, & always have my power plant capable of running everything. This has been limiting some of my choices, so I for sure need to start using your technique.
I know I've commented before on this video but I've got to thank you again for giving me the confidence to invest in this ship. I decided to go all the way, full long range multicannons, with a beam laser fighter only because I don't like multi-tasking on weapons. Then I engineered it to within an inch of its life which took me a lot of time and effort but was well worth it. Thanks to its lack of manoeuvrability, I've even learnt how to use flight assist off. The Type 10 is truly a battle axe if required or, should I want it, a short-haul explorer for exobiology/geology/planetary scanning (think Nostromo from the movie Alien). I have truly found my ship! Fly safe o7
I have a Type 10 outfitted almost like this one, but I have 9 multi-cannons and lots of hull and module reinforcements. I'm still working on getting Class A parts on all Core Internals and the Shield Gen. I never thought about 2 Beams but I'll add them tonight when I get on. I also, for some odd reason, thought the higher number was better for priorities. Now I have to sit through the rest of my day at work thinking about how much better my T-10 will perform with my Shield Gen on 1 instead of 5, and my weapons on 2 instead of 3. Excellent vid, even a year later. Thank you, KreeKree.
I've used the type 10 as my main combat ship for years. I like frag cannons, sometimes all 9 hardpoints, obviously fully engineered. Frags on top and beams on bottom is a simple build in regards to weapons. The main thing in combat in the type 10 is to pre-empt enemy ships position. Start turning before they pass with flight assist off, at least for the 180 deg turn.
The Guardian Frame Shift booster comes in several sizes. The 3H you put in boost the range of your jumps by 7.75 light years. The 5H does 10.5 light years. Fair dinkum!
Thanks for the great video! I would love to have seen some combat footage of your build with the fighters taking out an enemy’s shields and then you blasting them with the multi cannons! Looking forward to your next video.
I like the T10 more than I like the conda, corvette or cutter. There is something special about flying the giant cargo freighter that had armour plates and big weapons bolted on it mad max style.
I know this is a year late, and a few days ago, I left a sub comment for someone asking what the best station was to purchase a Type-10. For that I say, it depends on the armor plating you'd like to have. Use Inara to look for stations that sell what you're looking for. For me it was actually cheaper to retrofit my type-10, sell it off, and purchase one with the plating I wanted, rather than pay to have it applied. The other thing I wanted to say, after coming back to watch this vid for the power priorities, is I've taken to keeping my cargo scoop on priority 1 because, apparently it can be used during boosting to make a ship more agile, which... the Type-10 could really use. Sanderling did a vid where he demonstrates this on a different ship.
@KreeKree oh yeah, no problem! I just saw where you responded, I'm sorry. I might be slightly incorrect on this. I'm almost certain I've seen a ship for sale with something other than the lightweight alloy. I think I only saw it once., and that's what prompted me to check INARA to see if it listed ships for sale with different armor packages. The problem is, after that, when ever I've gone to where inara has said there's a ship with the armor I wanted, it's just turned out to be the default light weight alloy. This leaves me wondering if I just imagined it. I have an idea for something that might work, but I haven't tried yet. I noticed that on a couple of my ships where I bought armour packages, they seems to be listed as a normal module. So like if I bought military grade aemor for my FDL, the left over light alloy doesn't denote that it's specific to only the FDL. If the armor packages are just like any other module that can be swapped freely between ships, then I wonder if it's possible to get a, "discount," by purchasing it for a cheaper ship. For example, if I want military grade armor for my type 10, that might cost me close to a quarter billion credits, but if I can just swap armor around, why not pay less for it something like, the Hauler, then swap it on to my type 10?
@@cns6 I see what you mean but iirc, you can get a module cheaper technically by selling the module you want to replace in the one transaction meaning you need to be in the ship you're buying the module for because armour is ship specific.
For combat you just need to B rate everything, works on Federal assault / drop, Krait and Python. AFMU 2nd class and a repair class 1, just bring drones in the cargo, dont need fuel scoop... two skill boosters and two point defence, i run plasma only or laser and seeker missiles...
Cool build! I'm currently working on finishing up my AFK build with the type 10 to help get some supplemental income (possibly completely switching to passive income in the future). I'm also leveling up the lowest level crew option so there's less of a cut taken in the end. Hope you're having a great day, and rest of the week!
I've seen the afk build, looks cool af! I haven't tried it myself but I've heard mixed reviews on it. That might be because some CMDR's hadn't finished the build completely or they tried a slightly different one. I want to give it a go though. Ah yes, using low level crew will help the pocket. I do the same thing too 🙂 thank you and to you too CMDR o7 😊
I really appreciate the entry level builds you share. Makes me feel like I can do things without needing to engineer. I will say though, a newbie ship without super cruise assist sounds like a 'learning experience' waiting to happen haha. I've taken auto dock off of a couple of ships to make room but never SCA, though that might be a me thing. (And I can't imagine how hard manual docking with a type 10 must be so, fair enough.) I'd love to hear your thoughts on a viable protected miner build. That's what I'm setting mine up for and I appreciate veteran input. 😊
Thanks so much 😊 yeah I remember when I first started and got rid of advanced docking and super-cruise assist. It was a challenge at first but I got there and it's now second nature. I could make a video about landing and travelling in SC. I could also make a video for a protected T-10 mining ship. I'll see you in the black CMDR o7 😊

I think you should make some Odyssey topic videos. There are already hundreds of videos about ship loadouts and making money in the base game. There's an opportunity for Odyssey content!
If you get chaffed you can just un-target them and your gimbals will operate like fixed hard points. Kinda useless in the t10 though because of the wobble
Good question, you can only have one NPC crewmember launched at a time but if your ship has enough seats then you can have a friend as a crewmember as well so you can have in effect 2 crewmembers launched.
I don't understand why my turrets aren't working. All my weapons on my Defender are turreted, I have them set to Fire At Will, I start the fight by shooting some pulse lasers at an enemy and then launch my fighter ship, while I'm in my fighter ship I look at my Defender to see if it's helping and it just sits there. What the heck??
@@KreeKree I had to reset my crew member as active, I think I switched ships and then got back in my Defender and didn't set him to active again, I just assumed it would stay. This game is unforgiving lol
@@KreeKree So I haven't gotten into Engineering or getting the Guardian blueprints yet because I fear committing to a grind I won't stick to. Is there a starting point you recommend that will boost my combat ability without feeling too grindy?

I know this is a year late, but I'm new to the game and just learned this. It depends on the type of armor you want. I want to put mirrored surface composite on mine. Someone else might want lightweight alloy because it weighs nothing. So, I might have wanted to buy my Defender frome a different station, than they bought theirs.
