My friend showed me this video, it really lifts my spirit. :) While other UA-camrs are following the hate-train, it’s nice to see how this lovely humor-train is still going strong. Love it!
The reason why it looks like it's made for kids is, and Alexander has said it himself that he made this because he was inspired by all the younger audience of his, that has sent him fan mail and asked him in person about how to write a song....and many other things about his music. And so he got inspired to make this song especially for the younger audience. Love him❤
Malin Pink Studios True‼️ I love him and his music too ❤️👍 And this melodie is Such a Happy tune.... It Makes you wanna dance and sing along with it... I am 56 years old and I just can’t het enough of this tune.... So GO Alexander..... You are a WINNER ❤️🇳🇴❤️
Interesting overthinking but after seeing so many hate comments, I don't ge the big fuzz about whether this song is more appealing to children or not. When Alexander won in 2009 nobody objected or questioned anything to the fact that fairytales are for children. If so...what? Without any doubt he's very creative and innovative around artistic concepts.
Hunny.. it is made for children and its genius. Its the basic steps of how to do anything. You gotto believe it and do it. Not everything should be about love, sex and breakups. I do imagine this song being sung all around in children schools and its amazing. Its simple, catchy and for absolutely everyone.. Children are the future mechanics, graphic designers, and artists. So giving them inspiration already as kids is brilliant.
Kaitlin S It may be infectious and fun to some, but I think the whole thing is really cringeworthy and he could have done much better (i’m from Norway BTW)
That's How You Write a Song is no Fairytale, but Alexander Rybak is still Alexander Rybak. The bookies are giving him quite a lot chances to win this thing.
Gonçalo Silva It's hard for other countries to pronounce the Scandinavian Y - sound. It's more like ui- Roobak would had been more correct. But Alexander is Right back to Eurovision again.
Well, it's not Reeback either. ee is more like i. The y sound is pretty different. But I don't know how to explain it in English. It's like you were to say ee with the duck face pose. It's somewhere between short i and soft j, but more in the front and higher in the mouth. The back part isn't completely right either. In english Back is pronounced like we would write bækk. Bak is different. It's more like rock with a b instead of r actually It's simply Rybak 😂
RandomBox 81 Well, that was not exactly what I meant. In Norway i is pronounced almost exactly like the english ee, while y is a pretty different sound. Like the fellow Norwegian here said, the Norwegian y is kind of like a mixture between ee and uu.
Can you make a video... On why the heck Australia has joined Eurovision contest ???? Is it now open for Asia Pacific countries. . ? Just so curious to find out. It doesn’t make sense, especially because UK gave Australia 12 points. Kick Australia out, it is certainly not their territory. 😢
I don't agree that it's step 1 but it's true that to make a song you need to like it ("believe in it") and get it stuck in your head so you don't forget it ("sing it all day long"). And step 2 is when you present it to your producer and they say "yeah, it works"
Ur, pretty mean! Im from Norway myself and we woted for him becuse we Liked him and we wanted him to represent us! And in the start He tell u to write down the song and find a melody so...
well this explains why Mexico's "La Vida Es Mejor Cantado" is enjoyed by drunk adults in Mexican movies; the message of singing being an expressive tool is universal!
I would just like to point out to everyone who's got a problem with the mispronunciation of Rybak's name, that I (a Norwegian) regularly mispronounce My Own name when I speak English. Chill.
I also think the people are ready to move on from this emo phase, but I don't think this will win. It is catchy though. And you gotta love that face. Who knows, maybe he will win again :P
The only problem that Norway has is that the stage in Portugal won't have green screen effects (cartoon instruments for Norway), which is a bit problematic. Can you do Italy, Albania or Cyprus, or all of them since the three countries are represented by Albanians?
I saw an article that they won't have green screen effects. This is the article that I am referring to: www.eurovisionheadline.com/2018/04/11/fireworks-and-pyrotechnics-available-in-lisbon-but-no-green-screen-effects/
I can't understand why people take lyrics so seriously and have disputes about what he meant😄 It's so simple, there's no field for discussion. Come on, guys, just relax and "roll with it"
Couldn't agree more with this analysis. I posted earlier that Rybak's entry this year targeted the wrong demographic. If you want to win the Eurovision, you need to write songs that appeal to 14-25 year olds, not 7-14 year olds. (IMO, that's why Netta's Toy won).
Love this! You guys make the funniest videos about Eurovision :D You deserve a lot more views! Can you please make a video about Sweden's entry too? :)
Funny thing, if you just google "rybak" you will for sure find pictures of fishermans since this is wat this word means. :) I love Alexander Rybak's songs ^^
NOOOOOOO! You have killed me! You didn't mentioned that Alex means with this song that how to improve your talent. The lyrics will sound like that if we rewrite it: Step one: Believe in it and improve it "all day long" Step two: Just roll with it, that's how you can improve your talent. You didn't mentioned it, and. I'm so disappointed now. And his name is Rybak [ribak]. Did you know that his and Johnny Logan's birthday is on the same day? Well, now I know. First time finding this channel and i like what i'm seeing, but at least for this video, i wish you spoke a bit more about the actual song rather than sidetracking (making a top 10 list of what makes the video childish) and focused a bit less on similarities to previous songs.
The amount of times you say "Rye-back" is incredibly annoying.... and then you mention doing research online!! Not that much it seems! It is pronounced "Ree-back" - it means fisherman. Put Rybak into translate.
The name is pronounced differently in many languages. If you want to pronounce it correctly you need to know the pronouncement of the Cyrillic letters. The Norwegian way of pronouncing the name is not correct either.
But he is of Belarusian origin... "ryba" or "рыба" is fish, "rybak" or "рыбак" is fisher. Therefore the surname is "Fisher" or "Fisherman" translated. If an English speaker started saying "F-Iye-sher-man" it would be considered the wrong pronunciation. Ergo, it is Ree-bak, as in Fisher - not Fysher ;)
Haha in Russia it was played for more than a year everywhere too. Everybody liked it much in the beginning but then it got so annoying, even a really good song can annoy when played so much and for so long. It's not his fault, though. But after years everybody still likes it
Google: Y- lyden, just look at those who try to explain the Y -sound in Norwegian. Bokstaven Y = the letter Y. It's all there about how to pronounce the letter correctly. Good luck.

Most probably he will not win. But then, I am tired of all this "it is childish" comments. What is wrong with inspiring children and youngsters? Isn´t it the most important?
Hey, we specifically said "It's going to seem like an insult but we really don't mean it that way." Alexander's like the cool babysitter we never had growing up.
Can you please please do Albania...pls no mall joke or pepper 😂😂 Lol I thought it was Ryebak too but once u know its Reebak hearing the former hurts the ear. lol the cooking joke though 🤣🤣..he never aged after 14 I think
L O L!! ThnX, and this reminded me of why I subscriiiiiiibe to your channel ... scoobi dooobi bap bap... shoobidoobi HEY.... doooodly didley daaaay XD XD All the Best,
I think sending Rybak back is not really fair play and the voters will punish Norway for it. Every time the UK sent someone with name recognition it didn't really work out.
Well, this is only partly true... The band Blue in 2011 scored the best result since 2009 for the UK. And they were pretty famous even outside the British Isles. The problem is when you got a big name and not a song that is up to the expectation.
I don't really understand why he would want to try again. It's not like he can actually top his last appearance; at the very best he could literally only match the previous result (obviously). But most likely he won't. It's a okay-ish song I guess; but compared to Fairytale it's not that great; and Europe is going to remember and compare. And I don't think people will give him any extra slack because he won so spectacularly last time; more likely he will be judged more harshly because of it. Additionally I find the song to be both a bit patronizing and overconfident; and somewhat too meta. We want to hear a beautiful song, not hear about a singer songwriter brag about how easy it is to write a song (within a somewhat formulaic song that seems to be written a bit too quickly and carelessly). Alexander Rybak is a bit random as a songwriter; he creates some wonderful songs, some funny, some quirky and weird; and this is not one of the wonderful ones. If we really wanted to send someone who've competed before; we could have sent Aleksander Walmann (he's also an "Alexander" but written with "ks"); the singer from last year's JOWST, who got a 10th place last year. At least he could possibly improve on his performance. (Though I personally found his "Talk to the hand" lyrics really stupid)
My friend showed me this video, it really lifts my spirit. :) While other UA-camrs are following the hate-train, it’s nice to see how this lovely humor-train is still going strong. Love it!
AlexanderRybakVideo Love you ❤ Glad you understand our weird American humor 😂 Good luck!
perfect roast. too funny. gotta laugh at it.
This made me laugh :D
Good Luck in Lisbon Alexander!
AlexanderRybakVideo So glad you got to see it! :D Good luck in Lisbon!
Digger hvordan han sa at du ikke ble eldre:)

This song is so infectious and fun! I can't understand the huge hate that this song is getting among snobby Eurovision fans...
Most Eurovision fans think they are musical geniuses is why. Fun isn't in their vocab. This is my favourite song of year
Kaitlin S I'm with you! This song is also so feel-good. It's gonna get semi 2 off to a rocking start.
My favourite and my family's tops too.
It's silly in the wrong way. Cringeworthy, everything about it.
Kaitlin S It may be infectious and fun to some, but I think the whole thing is really cringeworthy and he could have done much better (i’m from Norway BTW)
There's a conspiracy going around that he's a vampire...
Βασιλική Oικονομοπούλου "Years ago, when I was younger"- sung by a baby faced Rybak in 2009, allready gave his secret away ;)
What u would do if he would like to bite you?
Βασιλική Oικονομοπούλου well he’s not
Βασιλική Oικονομοπούλου im sure lots of people have seen bigfoot too
That's How You Write a Song is no Fairytale, but Alexander Rybak is still Alexander Rybak. The bookies are giving him quite a lot chances to win this thing.
2:49 Just noticed that’s the thumbnail for Europe’s Skies
I’m very sure Alex is using “writing a song” as a metaphor as well!! It’s fun and the live performance was amazing!!
im sorry i couldnt watch your video further than one minute because you were constantly mispronouncing Rybak
Gonçalo Silva It's hard for other countries to pronounce the Scandinavian Y - sound. It's more like ui- Roobak would had been more correct. But Alexander is Right back to Eurovision again.
It's even harder to pronounce the Belarusian Y sound
He's such a smart guy. I'd be more interested in him giving us a violin concerto though - he's probably ready to do it.
Its Reeback not Ryeback omg
Gonçalo Silva finally, someone noticed
Well, it's not Reeback either. ee is more like i. The y sound is pretty different. But I don't know how to explain it in English. It's like you were to say ee with the duck face pose. It's somewhere between short i and soft j, but more in the front and higher in the mouth.

It's simply Rybak 😂
Norwegianeurovisionfancauseitsthebest i understand what you mean by i sound because in spain the i sound its not exactly ee
It's something between the English EE and UU, but in general it's better to say reebak, not "ryebak" 😂
RandomBox 81 Well, that was not exactly what I meant. In Norway i is pronounced almost exactly like the english ee, while y is a pretty different sound. Like the fellow Norwegian here said, the Norwegian y is kind of like a mixture between ee and uu.
Fela Igjen is so underrated! SO HAPPY YOU BROUGHT IT UP!
Kotik is such a cool song :D
I mean I don't understand a single word, but I enjoy the song so much! :)
Here you'll find the lyrics of "Kotik" in several languages www.alexanderrybaknews.com/premiere-alexander-rybaks-new-music-video-kotik-kitten/50398/
Yess at you using "Fela igjen" as a sample of his Norwegian stuff, such an underrated song.
Such a bop :)
+Mira Bai
it's 2018 and I'm still enjoying that song, it's really funny and satirical at the same time
IABI TV 😂😂😂
I adore this song, it's so unusual to me! Like a sip of fresh air in music. And this song convinced me to start learning Norwegian😄
THE WAY U SAY RYBAK PHYSICALLY HURTS
BTW, the actual way to pronounce his last name is more closer to the shoe brand "Reebok" instead of "Rye-back".
This. The IPA pronunciation is [rɨˈbak]
His surname is basically "fisherman" in Russian.
I am so excited for this he has been my favourite person in Eurovision for years
I wasn't there yet in 2009. So Rybak is back to appeal to a whole new demographic... like me yay! 😪😪😪
I don't understand why this channel doesn't have more subscribers
I love Alexander! I think that "writing a song" is a metaphor as well and people are just hating too much on it!
What about Italy next?
6:10 ”Mans Zemmerlove” ??
Melvin Sandberg rip avicii the real legend
I don't agree that it's step 1 but it's true that to make a song you need to like it ("believe in it") and get it stuck in your head so you don't forget it ("sing it all day long"). And step 2 is when you present it to your producer and they say "yeah, it works"
Guys I wanted to let you know that you totally mispronounced his last name. 😅 It’s not “rye-back”, but pronounced like “Reebahk”
Lane Moje Not exactly, because then you'd have to spell his name "Ribak".
Kennet The "y" in Rybak represents the Cyrillic letter "ы" and is pronounced like a deep "i" sound, so Lane Moje is right
Alessia Dionisi I was obviously talking about the Norwegian pronounciation.
Kennet Y in Norway, and Sweden is an open u/ oo- sound. It's hard to tell.
Ur, pretty mean! Im from Norway myself and we woted for him becuse we Liked him and we wanted him to represent us! And in the start He tell u to write down the song and find a melody so...
Everyone in the comment section, just chill with how he says his last name. I’m from Norway and I don’t even get offended.
well this explains why Mexico's "La Vida Es Mejor Cantado" is enjoyed by drunk adults in Mexican movies; the message of singing being an expressive tool is universal!
Or pretty much any song that was in a children Novela. We all just want to be kids again, taxes suck.
I would just like to point out to everyone who's got a problem with the mispronunciation of Rybak's name, that I (a Norwegian) regularly mispronounce My Own name when I speak English. Chill.
Hearing Alaxander's songs puts a smile on my face. "котик" Is my favorite for sure!
Your pronunciation of the names is terrible. You don't even try. You just pronounce them in an English way which is wrong.
Wavin' Racer not even in an English way, an American way. I'm Scottish (known for missing out a lot of sounds) but it gets on my nerves. So cringy.
In Norway we call everyone by their first name. Even our teachers and prime ministers
I also think the people are ready to move on from this emo phase, but I don't think this will win. It is catchy though. And you gotta love that face. Who knows, maybe he will win again :P
Norway ( and YES also Alexander Rybak) has my vote!
Hahahha dude, Alexander is talking about you in a NRK documentary xD
The lady in the pink sweater is my music teacher
The only problem that Norway has is that the stage in Portugal won't have green screen effects (cartoon instruments for Norway), which is a bit problematic.
Can you do Italy, Albania or Cyprus, or all of them since the three countries are represented by Albanians?
cartoon instuments do not require LEDs which are absent this year, actually they'll be green screened live
I saw an article that they won't have green screen effects. This is the article that I am referring to: www.eurovisionheadline.com/2018/04/11/fireworks-and-pyrotechnics-available-in-lisbon-but-no-green-screen-effects/

Well, the Eurovision 2018 winner was a little childish too...
"The same way THIS Ryback dominated the Elimination Chamber PPV event in 2015." Remember, guys? The really, really good one? Remember that one?
Have you heard "Beep Beep ima sheep", its almost the same song but older
Please come back to UA-cam!
Kids will love it and we all want to be kids again in some way , so 12 points .
bardo0007 Yes, I just LOVE this Happy tune from Alexander, and I am a «kid» that just turned 56 😂😂😂😂👍
this is such an entertaining video! will you do this for all the esc 2018 participants?
Who else was sent by Alexander's community tab?
Pintofmilk me!!
Its not Raiback btw
You know that Eurovision is entirely focused on politics. I hate it
The lyrics will sound like that if we rewrite it:
Step one: Believe in it and improve it "all day long"
Step two: Just roll with it, that's how you can improve your talent.
You didn't mentioned it, and. I'm so disappointed now.
And his name is Rybak [ribak].
Did you know that his and Johnny Logan's birthday is on the same day?
Well, now I know.
I was waiting for it, and now... It was a cheerless video. I'm a bit gloomy now.
But anyway it is a nice video with full of information. So thanks.
Hungary next pls...
Hiccstrid 105 it's there at 05:32
T. K Not exactly. Alex said that in an interview in Norwegian with subs. That is on AlexanderRybakFacebookies3's UA-cam channel.
But that doesn't rhyme ;)
hadapurpura No matter. It doesn't count
Hiccstrid 105 He killed you? Rest in peace! :-)
I'm getting more pissed every time he says Rybak like Ryebak
Oh , say It , fairytale was the best!!!

Wait ukraine didnt win in 2016.. did you mean that song won in the ukrainian competition?
He's a vampire
Stiffi 48 Hahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Yes, like all of us here in Norway 😂😂😂😘😘 Don’t make me laugh‼️
Did he just call the Swedish 2015 esc winner
Mans semerluv
heheh the pronunciation of Måns Zelmerlöw was pretttyyyyyyy awful ;) :D
There was a time when Norwegians absolutely hated this guy, because Fairytale was so overplayed. It was EVERYWHERE and it got old real fast.
Haha in Russia it was played for more than a year everywhere too. Everybody liked it much in the beginning but then it got so annoying, even a really good song can annoy when played so much and for so long. It's not his fault, though. But after years everybody still likes it
Everything was ruined by Season 8 of Dexter
Google: Y- lyden, just look at those who try to explain the Y -sound in Norwegian. Bokstaven Y = the letter Y. It's all there about how to pronounce the letter correctly. Good luck.
Francesca Michielin did Bruno Mars graphics in 2016, so she'd better sue both Bruno and Alex.
Why doesn't Norway juust send Alan Walker or some sht
Maybe we were that ready for the goofy Rybak. I don't hate the song but it wasn't my fav either. He won the SF, so people still have an affection for him. _And That's how you went from top to average score_ (Sing with me).
I laughed my ass off, cheers to the creator!
You are always hilarious, love your videos!
Dexter and not LOST????
можно перевоооод?? 😍😍😍
Its more like Ree-bok, but with less "o" sound
I felt the semi final performance was a bit dull
Rybak is trying to do Lazy Town this year
Hey, stop ruining the song! I think it's amazing and joyful, and it's definetly a winner!!! Well, if not Britain comes up with some dragons flying around, ur DOWN!!!!
Alexander Rybak himself actually wrote a comment, why don't you take time to give him a reply!
We freaked out a little when we saw that, had a big discussion about how to reply, and then never did. Thanks for reminding us!
LOL ;-D
2:10 I'm sure it's general knowledge by now but *IF* we went by the old scoring system that Rybaks win was under, Salvador Sobral would actually have more points beating Rybaks record!
He's so cute and talented.
you actually just need FL Studio to make a song lmao
That was not the one i hoped for the other contestants had better songs
Plz do Benji’s ”Dance You Off” 🙏🏻😜
He got too confident.....and thought that anything he does is going to be first place......Wrong......He messed up with that song......
i think he was the best, most cuz im from norway and i love his songs
Most probably he will not win. But then, I am tired of all this "it is childish" comments. What is wrong with inspiring children and youngsters? Isn´t it the most important?
Hey, we specifically said "It's going to seem like an insult but we really don't mean it that way." Alexander's like the cool babysitter we never had growing up.
Alexander rybak you can do it hope so much you can win
His name is not "Raibak" but "Reebak".
We know that. Now.
Didn't know his name is Raibak 😆.
Missing overthinking Austria ( my favourite) and sweeden (i hated)
Well we all know that the sun doesn't exist in Nordic countries so that's probably why his skin doesn't age 👌🤔
His song in 2009 was good, but his song this year is pretty awful in my opinion.
"which was completely not about anything else"
:v
kotik i love it even i dont get what he says
Almost the same. He looks good!
Point 9. Their parents probably disown them.
It's fun the way you say Rybak. =)
Can you please please do Albania...pls no mall joke or pepper 😂😂
Lol I thought it was Ryebak too but once u know its Reebak hearing the former hurts the ear. lol the cooking joke though 🤣🤣..he never aged after 14 I think
Ah, my ears!! Rybak is pronounced Ri-bak and it's not THE Ukraine.. God..
Ukraine is called Ukraine, not "The Ukraine". It's an independent country. You don't say "The Spain" or "The Canada", do you?
I am from norway, but i hoped estonia and moldovia would win. They were way better...
L O L!!
ThnX, and this reminded me of why I subscriiiiiiibe to your channel ... scoobi dooobi bap bap... shoobidoobi HEY.... doooodly didley daaaay XD XD
