Today, I learned something about Jon. "Let's see what's going down in the brown" and "I always end up going down the wrong hole" were... eye opening comments.
I just got a visceral lesson in why mobile game ads work. I just bought this game, and a major part of the reason why is because I got so frustrated watching Jon play it wrong that I had to go play it right.

Advice jon, go left to right when you drill, then drill down 2 or 3 rows depends on personal preference but that'll allow you to see all or most of the resources quickly. Keep the main shaft directly under your dome jic you get the lift.
More companies should give Jon free games. Cause I have bought so many games due to seeing Jon miss obvious things or play them in a very inefficient way!

My dad was in a bar fight years back, and the guy couldnt hit him because he was a big slow lumburing dude, and said "Hold still so I can hit you!" Thanks for that memory Jon.
My brain initially registered "Laser Dome" as "Loser Dome", and I needed to back the video up 10 seconds to see if that correct. Actually, I kinda prefer Loser Dome. It fits the whole anxiety and negative self talk my brain seems to delight in.
Jon could you check out Forever Skies it a subnautica/ planet crafter like game where you fly an airship from ruin skyscraper to skyscraper looking for a cure of a disease
The tuning of the laser feels very odd in this game: the visual design (and backstory of being mining equipment) make you feel like it should be absolutely brutal, just hampered by being unwieldy and designed for aiming at rocks rather than moving targets; but its actual damage output is really, really weak. It seems to be balanced, in the sense that the enemy numbers are correspondingly low; but in terms of feel it seems like it would be much less dissonant if it absolutely ripped through things, but you had to deal with significantly larger enemy swarms, rather than enemies coming in very modest numbers and your giant rock-cutting laser doing chip damage.
I've never seen anyone else be so bad at this game. You only do ore pulses after you find an ore patch then you do it directly on top of where it was. Then waste ores healing because you aren't buying weapon upgrades instead wasting it on shielding that last 0.5 seconds

HIs horrible mining strategy had my teeth set on edge... of course he wasn't playing Prestige Mode so he did his best...
What’s the “right” way to play the game?
i wanna see john play cosmoteer.... seems like a game that would be down his ally and great for his famous levels of perception

Surely you mean "Go Dome"?
Stop right there criminal scum
"Shaft to brown is an excellent, bloody shaft" -probably the dirtiest thing John has ever said.
"Every cocking time, I go in the wrong hole!"
Yknow jon is a baad mutha-SHUT YO MOUTH. talkin bout shaft. JON SHAFT yeaahh
Jon is "down to brown"
I have a sneaking suspicion that he should've taken the teleport thing when he had the chance.
He got what, a few water from the condenser?
@@Ponicrat and free overcharges x8 (1 water each)
The teleporter makes having to drag resources back to the dome practically a waste of time.

@@spikedmo spiders? Was there an update that added underground enemies?
This game reminds me of the old flash game "motherload". Always loved that one, might have to try this out
I think they made a steam version of motherlode
Go Dig or Go Dome would have been an excellent video title.
WE WERE SO CLOSE
That would be a good sequel title.
It's also basic instructions for the game
This reminds me of the flash game “Motherload” that was on miniclip. I’m about to go get and play this game immediately
Does it concern anyone else that Jon keeps calling the distinctly purple triangles "red"?
I thought it was just me. I kept looking at it going that's purple .
Going to assume the mental association of "health = red" overwrote the colour in his brain
he's colorblind
worst part is that he started off with "orange and purple" and somehow it shifted to "yellow and red"
@@omarjimenez6861 That's the reason it was getting to me. If he started calling it red I wouldn't have been so bothered. But for some reason he just decided orange was yellow and purple was red.
The laser speed upgrade would have been prudent.
Yeah... power is only part of the Lazer's upgrade path. In general his focus on upgrading only his economy was frustrating.
Seems like widening the shafts would be a good idea.
Why?
That's what she said!
Yeah, having more girth on the shaft would definitely get more of the juices flowing.
After the attempting to dive down the wrong hole for the fourth time, you'd think he'd just break through the wall between them instead of turning back...

Friendly reminder Jon is Colour blind - every time he says Red he means Purple, Yellow he means Orange.
didn't know that, that explains that pretty well

Let's play count the number of times Jon misses an obvious blip found by the scanner
Haven't watched the video yet, but this instantly made me think of Motherload, the flashgame.

"Every time I go in the wrong hole" -- Jon Egg Carton 11/2022
This game looks very similar to motherlode! Ah, sweet memories of those weird looking flash games...
motherlode was the bees knees
I was about to say the same thing
The Flash Game era is one of those things that, had we not seen it, we wouldn't believe possible. "Shitloads of people made tons of really good, well-made fun games for free and put them on the internet for all to enjoy." It doesn't sound feasible, except that it happened.
YES I immediately thought the same!
Goddamn, I miss flash games.
This game is so awesome for us matn viewers. We can all hear the stress level steady increasing every trip 😆 🤣. I can only hope this is a series put in the rotation.
I love how in the end summary he said it was a 'super-chill game'. No it wasn't!
I suspect those defenses would've been a little easier if he'd invested in increasing the laser speed...
"you have to stop them before they get to the dome" Yes! that is the game
Who else points at the screen and say right there when Jon misses 1/2 the stuff that the pulse reveals love the perception 1
The logical extension to the wonderful Motherlode.
Jon refusing to upgrade his weapon whilst onl upgrading movement speed is infuriating
This was a goldmine for out of context Jon quotes. "I always go into the wrong hole", "let's see what's going on down in the brown"
This reminds me of the old flash game Motherlode
"Let's see what's goin' on down in the brown" is contending for my new favorite MATN quote.
I feel like Jon really undervalued the turning speed upgrade
Teleporter > Condenser (or any other upgrade for that matter). Glad you played this game tho :)
Annoying that Jon didn't show the run-starting cutscene to explain just why those aliens are so eager to kill you...
Why do they want to kill you?
@@VAULT-TEC_INC. There was a small alien who was taking a relaxing walk and ended up smushed under the dome when it fell down from space.
As a sane person, watching this mining was pretty difficult. Northernlion suddenly dont look so bad.
So glad to see Jon check out this game!
Yes yes yes. I just saw this in my recommendation queue and it immediately caught my interest.
There are so many “go in the right hole” and “brown shaft” jokes I don’t know where to begin.

"Let's see what's going on down in the brown!" - Jon, 2022
Reminds me a thousand games from Armour Games. I glad that they found a way to Steam.
Nice looking game, I also appreciated all the innuendo from John
The enemies are quite reminiscent of the eldritch horrors from Sundered. Looks like a fun time! Will have to give this one a go.
Dome Keeper - Go Dig or Go Dome would have been the ideal title
The innuendo is strong with Jon.
I love diggy games; I immediately went to go investigate

Dadly, it doesnt help with him also wanting to know what's going on in the brown.....

Now this is psycho mining....
Welcome to the game Jon. Enjoy it! :)
The future seems scary!
I was yelling laser movement speed the entire time...that is all
If you like mining games, I suggest you check out an old retro game called Minecraft
Dang, the video title is slick
Yup, you can get more, but don`t if you go in the wrong hole. Just like my ex used to say
It's no Dig'n Rig but still nice.
Is it me or did those eyes in the walls seem to speed up the enemy timer?
This looks like a paid version of Motherlode. I was addicted to Motherlode.
Uh is John colour blind?
Sword is the way
Also, I need a stream with panicked Claire in the background! Please? :)
Would have thought a colourblind person might refer to the resources by shape instead of colour.
Another egg playing this game :D
Psycho mining worse than Northernlion
Yeah I've enjoyed NL's sessions on this. I'm waiting for MATN to pick up Tiny Rogue.
Jon you sure the triangles are red? They look purple to me.
He's color blind... So i'm glad he's got close to the right colors.

have you never played minecraft
did they not teach you how to stripmine
the probe is pretty useless unless your on the labyrinth map
