I still enjoyed Halloween. I don't wear costumes to go trick or treating. Which I feel down about it. Yet, I give out candy to the visitors instead.

Well every frame is hand animated (posed in 3D), so it’s really no different than any other shot they would animate.
Who we should be thinking of are the 3D modelers who put a huge amount of time into each outfit to just be missed by blinking haha.
Now you know why over a hundred artists quit midway through making the movie

it regularly breaks my heart to hear how demanding the conditions were for those working on this film because of how incredible this film came to be. allegedly over 100 animators quit and i don't blame them. their work on this should not go unnoticed.
edit: for those who stayed, they allegedly were working 7 days a week for 11 hours throughout an entire year. the writers + actors strike needs to account for animators as well because these working conditions and lack of appropriate accomodations/compensation for everyone involved needs to end.
Dear god. I think I follow one of them on insta but they never talked about it once. They made a few outfits for gwen and only one made it to be her prom outfit. My gods I wonder how gruelling that was.
It also confirms that Gwen's household is the kind of househould where everyone has a fixed seat at the table.
Wait isn’t that normal? Like when me and my sisters where young we all had our spots we would sit at the kitchen table when eating.
Like it wasn’t like our mom made us or we all out right said “this is my spot” we just sat down at the table and proceeded to sit in that same spot the day after and so on.

And so it's been..... easily almost a decade since then
It was also confirmed by Gwen's VA, Hailee Steinfeld, that what is unique about Gwen's dimension, is that it works like a mood ring. The color changes are actual happening in world, its just how their world works.

Which makes it all the more heartbreaking how cut off she is from everyone. Imagine how much effort it takes to hide your true feelings in a world like that.....
Idk if the colours are actually how the world works... like physically. I think it's just visual story telling.
That's what I tought when I first saw it. I tought in her dimension it just worked like that. You can also see how in other dimensions the colours are different.

Also I’d like to mention how this montage obviously tells us Gwen often changes her hair style.
But her hair hasn’t changed after she met miles, after he said he liked her haircut.

Each outfit only lasts for 2-3 frames, and they gotta draw 63 of em, props to the animators!

I love how the grasp of their hand-hold changes with each shot. It’s so realistic because you don’t always hold someone’s hand the same way every time. It’s a good touch.

Interestingly enough, the only frame where their eyes are open is presumably Gwen's birthday. None of them are holding hands, Gwen and Peter are focused on the cake with neutral expressions while George looks pretty happy. Can't figure out why this is or what it conveys though

Another thing I noticed about 25 seconds into the film, is that we get the flashback to miles in class with her, covering his hand. We then have flashbacks of Gwen doing the same thing, showing that she knew from the beginning.
Damn that foreshadowing on Peter is actually pretty genius and insane
And very sad
Another cool detail of this scene is how they denote the passage of time. In the background, the plant to Gwen's right slowly grows taller, and the number of picture frames on the wall increases on her left.

someone had a good theory that the background color’s relationship with gwen’s colors are meant to show when she feels safe. she always blends in with her rom, but when she leaves it she contrasts with her environment because she no longer feels safe. there’s a lot more examples but i can’t name them off the top of my head.
Man do i love how they always care for such little details that i would never notice unless a youtuber would point them out to me, its so thoughtful of them
Ah, nice. Despite all the color changes in the backdrop (things that happen to her and around her) she seems to maintain a stable luminosity, implying that her close relationships used to stabilize and support her over the years.
There's a frame in the montage where she has the same hairstyle as Gayatri Singh. I think that's just so neat of the creators to include that and really cement the idea of multiversal constants
I think the traffic cone thing is supposed to be the default thumbnail for a lot of video files, which would be a fun little easter egg for CGI animators.

shes too cool for costumes, so she dresses as a concept, or something that isn't a physical things. in this instance she's 'VLC Media Player' which is a third party media player that probably every single animator on the film uses instead of the garbo default media players, as it has a load of features like frame by frame playback. its a tech reference
As an animator, I can confirm I use VLC for reference A LOT! You can even take screenshots, which is so helpful!

It was about doing the right thing...For oneself and others. Uncle Ben, Miguel's daughter, Lizard Peter etc...Would want Miles father Jeff to be saved.

It's all the little details blink and you'll miss it kind of things I love with this movie. Especially when looked at closer it helps tell the story a little more about the character.
Her relationship with her dad is honestly amazing. They're both so understanding towards each other.
The traffic cone is also reffered to as a witches hat. Halloween, witches... you get the idea. It's actually quite clever and funny.
Which means if Miles ever visits her universe we'll finally see how she truly feels about him since her universe will show it.
Do we really need tho? Even a blind Spider-Man could tell that a mile away.

The spider verse movies are the first films in too long that I’ve seen really embrace animation as a medium of art. This scene is so beautiful and does such a good job breaking my heart every time.

In thr first film I thought Gwen was pretty cool, now she's my favourite
This is mostly just because Gwen's universe functions off emotions. Strong people like a spider-person have enough influence that in there area, the general emotion, follows suit through them. They're the main character of that area. So Gwen's emotions always influence how the world around her looks and works. To Miles, his world is more comicy. It's bright, slow, and artistic. Their worlds mesh completely, forming a true painting and it's why their characters are perfect for each other.
We don't see it here, but the prom one is my personal favorite

Shout out to the all the people that made these movies! The amount of detail that you put these indescribable pieces of art is mind-boggling, no words to describe it. I hope you all get the amount of recognition and respect (and money) that you each deserve.
The most jarring is the birthday clip. Everything about it is visually distinct and it completely breaks the flow of the montage. Gwen's in a different position, alone, and with her eyes open. While that kind of pose could easily come across as cool or impressive, the contrast between how peaceful Gwen looks for the rest of the montage and her pose in that one clip is almost painful.

I love the traffic cone shirt too! Especially since it also looks like it might have been a shirt with a piece of candy corn on the front, which would still be festive for the Halloween season, but also still conveys that she's too cool for a costume. But of course, when the bottom of the shirt is blocked, it would look like a traffic cone, and give the audience the subtle warning that you pointed out. (And what I mean is, that she could be wearing a shirt with a traffic cone on it, but it could also be a seasonal candy shirt, and I think that it's cool that it can be viewed both ways!)
This movie is so thought out and was animated beautifully. Even though it had a lot of different cartoon variations of spidermans, the animators brought that still made it look so good and the storyline is just amazing, everything (so far) has come full circle and it looks like it will end that way. Personally, I think it's the best movie that has come out this year.
Respect to all the writers and animators for creating a legendary movie.

As a Christian, that scene hit me hard. My family always ate together at the table and prayed before eating. It's a big part of how we relate to each other. We pray together and then talk about our days and share things. We haven't been able to sit at a table and pray together since 2019. Covid hit, and we started doing more TV dinners. Then, in 2022, I moved out. I miss my family
