I love the Dirty Robot: used a lot on my upcoming album
I used both the Boss SY-1, but I loved much better the DD
you can listen to both on bass in the second part of the song:

The Dirty Robot is pretty killer, and not just for the name alone !!
@@Mr.Steve-O TOTALLY!!!
Let me know what do you think about my song, if you have the chance to listen to it!!!
I used to own the Synth Wah, Dirty Robot and Spectrum. I liked the Synth Wah overall, never bonded with the Dirty Robot and liked the Spectrum particularly since one of its mode mimicked the Lovetone Meatball (which I also used to own and unfortunately sold year ago. Don't have any of them now and your video made me miss them a little.
I feel exactly the same way! I kept the Synth Wah as it's just so special. I sold the Dirty Robot due to the fiddly controls, and I sold the Spectrum and thoroughly regretted it ever since.
Why do we all do this to ourselves??
Great reveiw. Being a dark ambient noise monkey who mangles spoken word tape collages with pedals over diy drone boxes, with pedals, it has to be the DD. A massive array of sounds, something dirty and dark in the tone. I also have 3 other x series, along with the hothead and deathmetal, all solid great pedals. That Robot though, itd give me choice paralysis too many knobs but the vibrato hold is wonky af! Lots if uses for that. Moving home still and packing up my studio so no shopping for me any time soon.
I honestly never used a filter-style pedal but have to say that these are pretty cool pedals. I think the SHSHL Pedals The 70's and the Source Audio really stood out for their depth and overall clarity.
I agree! I sold the Spectrum quite soon after filming this video, and I've regretted it ever since.
I only paid £100 for it, and made a nice profit when I sold it. However, it was such a great pedal, I feel like I should have held onto it for a while longer...
My current envelope/modulated filter pedal is the EHX Blurst. Not a common one but has three wave shapes, resonance knob, high or low cut sweep knob, time knob, tap tempo, dotted 1/8 and all that musician stuff beyond my ken. It goes slow and will give you plenty of movement on a pad, whilst you get to work on something in the foreground. I like the slow speed of it.
I also have a Gristliser built from a kit, youve done a Gristliser clone before, overdriven VCF and VCA with 4 waveforms. Much as I love it for sentimental reasons, it doesnt go slow enough for my dark ambient drone pads, great for guitarists who want a dirty modilated filter or trem sound. Hard to find them as they only went into production as a 4 part euro rack module set with extra bells, as the line between enevelope filter pedals and synth modules is paper thin.
Some small builders will offr to make you a one off and, some in the past have tried to market them, but I think they got cease and desist from Chris Carter and the original designer of the circuit.
Oh man, I really miss the Blurst! Such a fantastic pedal. I should have got another one for this video, really! Damn.
Tbf, I need to get another one at some point, anyway...
@PedalExperiments I haven't even tried the expression jack on it yet., I glbet it would be twice as wild with an OBNE expression ramper utility pedal.
y'all just made me wish I'd never sold my sweet, sweet blurst.
@PedalExperiments if I didn't have mine on my live board, I'd lend it for the overdue vid.
I appreciate it, but I've since bought another Blurst. 😝
Dusk if of course crazy, but I like more Source Audio stuff (the C4 include all the spectrum stuff and more)
Good call on the C4! I really need to try one of those.
Sonuus wahoo has the best digital features and analogue sound of any filter pedal made. If you can tell me an analogue filter that will reset it's lfo along with each new note I'd like to hear it.
Ahh, I used to have one of those! I did film a very basic video of it on here, way back before I started doing proper demos. I wish I'd held onto it. It was really cool, but I don't think I fully appreciated what I had at the time.
@@PedalExperiments without a computer to edit the wahoo a lot of the configuration and tweaking is impossible. The software goes far beyond the knobs lol
After two years I have about five presets locked in and can't imagine going back to a filter without a treadle for sensitivity, frequency and LFO control. I'm glad they are a hidden secret!
Oh and they are super fussy about power supplies. Get one again though!
It’s not the ‘pedal’, it’s the ‘player’…
In my case, it's definitely the pedal. 😆
