What a shame Stripey, such a great album. I think researching the pressing on discogs is the way to go in the future in order to prevent this sort of thing.
I actually have not heard of the album yet, I have heard the name for so many times and I'll blast it out. Thanks to you Stripey and I'll have to check it out.
Stripey- Brilliant video mate. Always try to watch them as soon as I can. You should check out the colourful record “On an Island” by Sir David Gilmour.
Yea Stripey i can relate to what you are saying about the sound quality on some of these new 180gram pressings vinyl pressings. The mastering is terrible they are using a digital source for them. So I've primarily now gone back to CDS. Just shelled out to much money to have something played once. And then traded back to my local record store. They needto get the quality control up to par.
Sorry you had a crappy experience mate. I’ve got to say, since getting back into vinyl, my experiences with new records have been pretty hit and miss. Some sound good, some very disappointing and I absolutely agree there is no excuse for bad surface noise on new vinyl these days, but I was thinking - the inner sleeves have a lot to do with adding to record noise, One of the best vinyl re issues I bought in recent times was the 2018 re master of Bowie’s Let’s Dance, really quite vinyl and it sounds amazingly good - so it can be done! Glad it’s not just me mate, sometimes, it makes you question your own set up, but it’s obviously a production problem! Take care mate!
Hey mate ,good video, sorry to hear the lp sounded crap. Its like the new Dylan record,i got warned not to buy the US pressing and go for the European one instead . The US version sounds muddy and its warped apparently . cheers mate
Try to get an earlier pressing! Not since "prince, around the world in a day" , have you had a great experience! We have to be careful with our choices! Choose "audiophile" companies only , they may be more expensive, but its worth it!
Hi mate, Sad to hear you had two times in a row bad luck with the sound of the vinyl. The artwork is just disappointment. But Pulp ..........nahhh .... not for me.😉 The last vinyl albums I bought are Tom Petty Wildflowers And All The Rest and David Bowie Metrobolist, (new Tony Visconti 50th Anniversary mix of The Man Who Sold The World). Both sound very good, especially Tom Petty. Hope your next 1st vinyl play will give you more satisfactiin and pleasure. Take care and stay safe.
Hey Bud, yeah its a shame those records are poor sounding 😕. I was looking at The Man Who Sold the World 50th with the new cover, but read the mix wasn't up to much...interesting. hope ya well mate.
I open and play every album I buy within the first few days as I’ve had my fair share of crap pressings. That way I can always take it back for an exchange or a refund. Not worth the risk holding on before opening as there are so many bad pressings. I collect a lot of soundtracks and it’s probably 50/50 that it’s going to sound inferior. Wouldn’t mind but some of them are 30 -40 quid a pop. Can understand splatter and split colour vinyl sounding a bit ropey but there is no excuse for black to sound bad.
Ya Stripey you just have to be very careful with these reissues a lot of them are digitally sourced and sound like crap you really have to do your research especially because these records are getting outrageous
No mate you have every right to be fussy, pay all that money for these records, to sound like shit. In before buying you should check a site called 'discogs' if you are sceptical, cheers mate. Edit: just saw that you mentioned this in the update video, my bad.

The Pulp His n Hers x2 LP half speed master is great. The album is also amazing
YESSS!...😍

Really do appreciate the reviews, even the negative ones. Especially the negative ones, actually. Sorry this was another stinker.

Original pressings usually aound the best
Get the music on vinyl 2011 version . I still see new copies floating around in independents . It sounds a lot better
Cheers Michael, I'll keep an eye out for this.

The Smiths "Strangeways" sounded great mate but your right, I've had a couple of bad experiences lately, such a shame. Cheers pal

It's a notoriously bad album on vinyl. Even the 1995 original was terrible. Too much crammed on to 2 sides.
I think this needs the half-speed master treatment, such a shame this sounds pants. cheers pal
