Hi, Dr.Hipert. I just passed the entrance exam for my master in linguistics (more specifically, SLA and ELT). I actually learned quite a lot about linguistics from your videos when preparing for the exam. I genuinely appreciate you, and am looking forward to your next videos! Thank you so much!
Pleasw, could you advise where to find an article written in Aussie English?i need to find its typical features in there, mainly lexis and grammar structures.thanks!
@@MartinHilpert Thanks a lot! Hope to see our episode in your chanel:)) The book SPIAKING SINGLISH(a companion to how singaporeans communicate) may be helpful:))
Yes, I have used it, but only the demo version that is free to use. I think it's fun to use, especially the word sketches that you can do with it. That said, for my students I encourage the use of AntConc, which is free, and in my own work I use R, which is both free and more powerful.
@@MartinHilpert Thank you for your answer! AntConc and R are both softwares that you have to download, and then you also have to download the corpus you want to analyse, right? Because for my thesis I'm working with the corpus enTenTen, which is something like 13 billions words, and I'm not sure it could be downloaded anyway. I find Sketch Engine useful because it allows me to search in the corpus online, even though I encountered some difficulties sometimes it makes mistakes when it comes to word classes. Thank you again, sorry for the long message!
@@Laura_380 I see, you're right that mega-corpora like enTenTen are more easily handled through online interfaces. A certain error rate in part-of-speech tags is completely normal, even in corpora that are a lot smaller.

Congratulations, Daisuke, and I wish you success in your master's program!

@@MartinHilpert Thank you, I was a bit worried but I imagine that with those kind of numbers is inevitable. You've been very helpful, thanks again!
