Having one since 2005, It's still going strong. I bought it with the extended warranty, so I got a new clutch and Transmission around 70k miles (there was an issue with the clutch, transmissions, and the AC hose). Now it has 135K, and I used it on long range road trips, only. Cars with this size, power, and feel, don't come cheap, so I have no need to update it any time soon,
My 04 SL is an amazing car! Had to fix the timing chain, guides, tensioner, and water pump, but other than that and basic maintenance (new tires, brakes need to be replaced soon, and tightening the handbrake), 225K miles and I still have nothing to complain about.
@@Mabeylater293 Every VQ burns oil, but some are worse than others. I drive across the country (Minnesota to Oklahoma) a few times a year and it burns maybe 1/3-1/2 of a quart in about 800 miles.
Yeah, those transmissions are the worst. I regretted owning one of those cars. That massive money pit gave me nothing but problems everyday. This was between late 2016 and 2017. All thanks to my ignorant mom who told me to get the 05 instead of the 03 (the much more reliable one and much better) due to her opinion on value rather than condition. The 2003 was in much better condition and much lower miles. She so stupid sometimes. The lesson I’ve learned: don’t listen to your mother when it comes to buying cars, and never buy another Nissan again.
I have a '04 Campaign Mist [Gold] Maxima SL Automatic tranny and this car has had Mobil 1 since 9k miles [3 free dealer oil changes] and has been dealer maintained since day 1 and runs as nice as it did when it was new. It just flipped 151k and the maintenance record file is about an inch thick with everything that was ever done to the car like all the fluids flushed at recommended intervals. It has had premium gas run it pretty much it's whole running life and can get as much as 37 mpg average on long trips. It's the best car I have ever owned and still looks new!
Still see the sixth generation Maxima's on the road they haven't even aged still looks like new but prefer the newer Maxima's. When the 2004 version came out in 2003 wasn't as pleased but later on it grew on me. Remember in 2007 when it got refreshed front end style and looked more sportier wanted me one but got the '07 Altima because it became the baby-Maxima with better features now 10 years later I want me a newer Maxima which has come a long way.
got mine around 90k miles in early 2019 from the original owner, was garage kept and babied by an elderly driver and his wife. the body is pretty much flawless and the underside looks great for a new england car. so far, I've put ~52k miles on with many trips to canada and to ohio from maine. car has been great but has suffered from typical 6th gen issues- rebuilt valve body and installed a transgo shift kit at 130k, timing chain needed be done around 138k. also the 'coin slot' window in the roof had needed multiple reseals as water would leak thru if it rained hard. other things I have replaced include: 3/4 wheel bearings, cv axle, brakes, VIAS system threw a code (deleted vac, installed VIAS BOP) , both mufflers rotted out (installed catback), cat was clogged (gutted), power steering pump failed at 110k, alternator failed recently (replaced all belts + tensioners with alt), and I just replaced all trans&engine mounts. overall: I would recommend this car. fun to drive for what it is and decent on gas, however, if you're not mechanically inclined be prepared for possible expenses $$$$
I own a white 2005 nissan maxima 3.5sl, it currently has 120,000 miles on it. The interior is a butter tan still intact/no rips. With a woodgrain finish, it just has the standard sunroof/not skyview. Its an atomatic trans with the option of turning it into a manual. All the windows are tinted at 5%. I purchaced the vehicle on feb of 2019 for 3,800$ with 117,000 miles on it. Long as you keep up with all the maintenance, it will run forever cause mine is running strong with no complications. I can't wait to kit/rim/system it up 😆.
The European cousin of this car, the Renault Vel Satis, looks quirky because it is higher and has a hatchback but it is an excellent car if you stay away from the diesel engines. In particular, the model with a 3.5-liter petrol engine in Initiale trim mixes high quality leather and real wood and can be had for €4.000, down from €50.000 in 2004.
I got a 06 with 285k and she still runs like a champ... I did my timing chain (all 3 chains)the guides and tensioners and new sprokets and water pump @ around 250k and haven't had any other problems but 1 I gotta change out my camshaft position sensors (easy fix) I'm hoping after that nothing else goes wrong. If I can break 300k I'll be happier then a fat kid with a cake to himself.. and note I'm not that easy on my car, I run her pretty good but the day I start driving it like a grandma everything will go to hell in a hand basket, that car likes when I drive it like it's new off the showroom floor, I don't smash the gas to the floor Everytime I drive it but I ain't that easy on her either.. them aluminum motors don't like easy and slow. Get on the highway and open her up and blow all the nasty shit right out the ass end lol
285k wow man that's good to hear. I'm at 163k on my '04 with a little bit of timing chain rattle on start up. Just gonna keep changing fluids religiously and hope to hit 200k.

The original 4 door sports car was a Ford Taurus SHO with a 5 speed stick.Nissan as well as dodge were all copying the original 1989 model but they never quite lived up to the driving experience. The Dodge Spirit Rt was quicker 0-60 but crude and unrefined. And the 92 Maxima got the boost to 190 HP but still lost in a race with any 89-95 SHO with a 5-speed Ford should have put a 4DSC sticker in the rear window before Nissan did.
This was the 1st of the Nissan Maxima's Decline. This model was absolute delete garbage window when compared to any of it's previous generations. Is. It was rare to see one of these that was older than 3 or 4 years old driven by a white guy.

Ok thanks for sharing. But no, not all VQ’s burn oil, only the one’s built after Renault. The pre-Renault vq’s dont burn any oil.
