im 18 and just started dashing and have never done my own taxes. what does that mean
@@robertcamargo9289 Hi Robert. I recommend that you keep a composition notebook in your car and keep track of your mileage each trip. I would write the date, amount of miles traveled, and whether the trip was business or personal. At the end of the year you can deduct the total number of miles that you drove for doordash. when you type them into turbotax or a similar tax app it will (automatically)multiply the amount of miles * $0.655, resulting in a number that is subtracted from the amount of taxes that you owe

@@Dave_0115 Hi John. You have the option to do itemized deductions (gas, maintenance, etc) OR simply deduct the mileage. You could do itemized, and look through all your receipts and estimate what percentage of the total was business vs personal. Keep in mind that the IRS may choose to audit you and ask for supporting documents and what your rationale was in determining what percentage of expenses were personal vs business(the best way to determine the percentage is mileage, whether you choose to itemize or not)

Real stupid question, I am a newbie dash, I started dash at the beginning of December... in the door dash app it said I made close to $1,800 for the month of Dec. I got my 1099 and door dash said it only paid me $1,273 for that year... why is there a big difference?

I work in an industry where profanity is used quite loudly and often. So much so that I’ve gotten desensitized to it. It’s nice to not only get good dasher info, but to hear it in a clean and professional manner. It took me a minute to realize what was missing! Thanks for keeping it real, and clean!

EVs are fun! The mach-e is good looking. I drove a 2022 model 3 and loved it. Kinda wish I hadn't invested in a fleet of turo cars and just bought a Tesla with cash last year. I totally could have! Great cars

@@BestDasherAlive it was going really well but I've had a string of bad luck. It's the slow season too. Don't recommend financing cars for turo but just buying cheap, reliable cash cars. I see little scratches popping up all the time and it's not worth filing a claim and paying a deductible. Maybe learning how to buff you can make the business work 😭
Did it really though? Are you factoring your electric bill and insurance costs? Seems like it would take many years to pay for a $40k+ car with just dashing, even if electricity costs less than gas. Not to mention you still have to do maintenance on coolant, brakes, tires etc.

Just started Dashing the other day. Made $300 in three nights in a row, just delivering around my city. I'm starting to think it's better than Uber. I'm making the same amount of money (if not more) for way less miles.
And you get to walk around get out of your car a lot more 👍

Now you gotta try out the Ioniq lol. I'm looking to buy an EV. I wanted the Ioniq but they don't qualify for the tax credit. The Mach E GT doesn't either so probably just going to get the model 3 performance. Haven't decided yet
