Just swapped from an element to a contour and man I am so impressed. This contour is a piece of art with great functionality. Last wallet I am sure I will own.
I got the special edition contour when it came out and I love everything about it and I still have the OG Trayvax from the kickstarter and I'll never go back to a billfold wallet again
I got mine too on November for my 25th bday..I still carry it and love it. It's taken a nice wear just how I wanted it. I have an Element Tobacco Brown
i went from bottega, gucci, and louis vuitton wallets to tumi ever since i got into EDC. I decided that it's not manly to My tumi bi-fold is still fresh as hell, but i had to give trayvax a try. i love the slim design. i hope I didn't make a mistake by getting the element over the contour. price is no issue for me. i just think the element looks classier since both sides are relatively covered in leather
You wont regret it man i purchased the trayvax element 2 years ago still my go to love that it is mostly leather gets a nice shine i prefer it over ekster, dango and the ridge wallets
I have to o.g. element in Mississippi mud with the exact same leash but in Mississippi mud. 6+ years edc, I just sent it in to get new leather. it originally cost me $100.00 smackaroos. 😊
Atleast with these wallets they last forever yet with a regular leather bi or tri fold wallet it ages and all but eventually starts to crack and rip and you have to buy a completely new wallet. With these The frame is thin enough to not be completely leather and you can re purchase the leather straps in different colors too when the strap starts to give out and not have to buy a completely new wallet Plus me personally I’ve found full leather wallets just are uncomfortable especially in hotter climates it makes you sweat more in the back or front pockets You do get what you pay for. It’s minimalist and for front pocket carry so therefore more comfortable and harder to steal Had a Bottle opener so you don’t have to carry one on your keys So if you think about it this wallet will last you a long ass time and will be as minimal as possible
I bought this wallet the ekster parliament and the ridge. Ridge is my favorite in terms of size and unique designs but I always comeback to the element for bigger cash carrying capacity I could add a lanyard and carabiner to clip to my bag or belt loop and you can’t beat the leather patina 😏
I have the original since March 2015 and an Element (older version). I never used the element cause it was so stiff and hard to get things out of other than when I was dressed up I would put my Driver ID and maybe one credit card in it. Since my Original strap is getting warn I'm looking to replace it and realy like the contour, just not that price tag they have on it.
6:55 I personally would be really leery about having cash in this. It looks like anytime you unsnap the front to remove a card(s) that folded up cash could fall out the back. There literally is nothing but the friction of the leather against the money holding it there.
I’m so frustrated that you wouldn’t take a moment to show us how the cash fits in the new wallet. How is this a comparison without showing that one key comparison? Annoying.
Bob johnson I own both. "The Ridge" for going out to nicer places, and the "Element" for EDC. If in your means, that's the best solution. Both are amazing. Hope that helps.
Cards come out of the trayvax way easier.. bought the burnt titanium ridge and sent it back.. all the little gimmicks they talk about to attempt to get one specific card out of the ridge is bs if you use any other card but the top one it's super annoying to use on a daily basis. Both the contour and the ridge are extremely overpriced for what you get but from a pure esthetic standpoint I think the contour looks much more unique.
@@KillaCaliMan1 rip off? No. Buying a new "regular" wallet every 1-2 years at $30-40 a piece is a ripoff. I'd gladly spend $70 on a wallet that will last me 5, 10, or even more years. It pays for itself against other wallets in 2 years
I think its worth it. Ordered myself a dango M1 maverick tho. I need a bit more space to not fold bills twice cause i dont like that, and its nice to have your cash completely concealed.
These minimalist wallets are cool ideas but not practical at all. Get a Big Skinny bi-fold wallet with rfid blocking for less than $35. It's thin as hell and it keeps your cards and cash organized.
I know taste is subjective but both of those wallets are ugly as hell.A piece of rough cut leather attached to a piece of stamped metal. Not what I would call a wallet. That bottle opener sticking out the end seems like it would be really uncomfortable to sit on. On top of everything else they are over priced for what you are getting.

Sorry but the Contour is FLAWED. If you have, for example, 5 cards in the wallet and you pull one out and turn the wallet upside down (so opening is facing the floor) and tap the wallet, ALL the remaining cards in the wallet will fall out. I had the Contour and it was trash for this very reason 💩👎🏼. I swapped to the TrayVax Ascent - so much better....
Bobby Jones I have the Element and it is the absolute best wallet I have had in my 46 years. I get comments about how convenient and nice it is at least every few weeks. I attached my keys to it and ever since have not left either behind (something that used to happen frequently before). I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again and recommend it whole heartedly.
Keep buying a new wallet every year or 2 then. I've owned many wallets, and they all fail in the stitching, or the edges fray and then pull the stitching apart. I even spent $45 on a nice carhartt wallet, thinking it would last me for a long time. The fabric on the inside started to rip apart after a year, and the frayed leather edges started to make the stitching pop. I had it for 2 years and it was falling apart. This thing hasn't failed me since switching.

Awesome review. It's been 6 years since this video. Which one has been your go to, element or contour? Why did you choose it over the other?
I have the Element in black picked it for 2 reasons. More leather and money is hidden.

My main concern with contour is that the cash is not protected. Have you found that to be an issue? Is your cash getting worn out prematurely?
Steve White Today will be my 2nd day using it, I'll post back and see how the cash holds up.
ive owned one for awhile now and the cash stays very secure
Steve White, the cash strap holds it in very securely with NO issues of wearing. Really dig this wallet!
The metal plates are not stamped out. They're laser cut.

Just curious. How is the contour RFID protective?
Have the same question!
I have the axis and love it but thinking about changing to the element
With the two keychain holes on the axis if you have it connectrd by one hile will it open up?
@@tgn-contentandotherstuff5652 yes if its connected by only one it wod still open. It you connect it using both i will not open.
On the Contour...can you use the bottle opener without having to open the wallet?
On the new ones, yes. The original was styled a bit different
In order to use the bottle opener(on the element), do you have to open the strap?
yes
i don't and it works fine. I only have 3 cards in my wallet though.

I've now had this wallet since March, the cash sit's down in there snug. I have not had a single issue with it falling out.
I've been using mine for over a year and a half and never had a problem, I love this thing
My element is awesome!
Which colar element in this video?
I’m so frustrated that you wouldn’t take a moment to show us how the cash fits in the new wallet. How is this a comparison without showing that one key comparison? Annoying.
dont be a puss
Buy one and figure it out.
I know this is old but do not fade out audio that fast. As an editor this was a nightmare to watch.
I'm deciding between these wallets and the Ridge, what do you think ?
Bob johnson I think both are excellent choices. Ultimately depends on your preferences.

@@jeremysmith7686 I have zero issues getting specific cards out of my ridge wallet.
is this comfortable in back pokect?
It's actually so small, that I put it in my front pocket. I think the back pocket is a thing of the past with this wallet.
Total rip off ...
It does

I love my contour... great wallet that should last me for quite a bit.
So expensive and yet quite a few flaws
I think its worth it. Ordered myself a dango M1 maverick tho. I need a bit more space to not fold bills twice cause i dont like that, and its nice to have your cash completely concealed.
Consider selling your element? 😊
They need to get rid of the metal parts of the wallet that stick out
I don't know about everyone else but I put more than just money and cards in my wallet.
Condoms are overrated. Just pullout.
These minimalist wallets are cool ideas but not practical at all. Get a Big Skinny bi-fold wallet with rfid blocking for less than $35. It's thin as hell and it keeps your cards and cash organized.
W C the big skinny wallet is hideous. Thin, yes. But very ugly.
Uts a clean simple look for those card holders n dont really using cash.. for mee a old fashion wallet work hust fine 😂 👍
Vee Sim I
The serrated edge of the Element is not a clever and convenient, my inner pocket wears out to easy
to be honest these both look like pains to use and sit on
O4 HEMI they are for front pocket carry that's why, not meant to sit on these ones.
irrespective of this wallet, you should keep your wallet and phone in your front pockets so its harder to steal.
shankuss or lose.
Sit on? Who the fuck puts their wallet in their back pocket anymore? Really? Wtf
Top gostei sou do Brasil como Fasso pra adquirir uma dessas
Good wallets. Way overpriced.

Informed citizen these are for front pockets not back pockets
Since owning a trayvax, I haven't put a wallet in my back pocket, and my butt thanks me

You should be called, Informed Dumbass.
9 min for wallets. nah.
I tried to keep it down... lol, thanks for the honesty.
sure thing. solid reviews though.
Mr. JC the length of this video was fine. Don’t listen to the negativity

Why would you ever do that? I can't think of any time I would turn my wallet upside down while open, let alone tap on it in that position
the bigger flaw is how the metal scratches the fuck out of whatever card is on top. for $180, that should NOT be happening.
Come on man they're all terrible for the ridiculous prices they're charging. These are wallets for kids trying to look cooler than they are.
