As a kid I got excited and pointed the Starscream out...and my mother was like, "Mm hm". Clearly she didn't share my enthusiasm. 😩

The truck/helicopter from mostlybforgotten show The Highwayman. Cab of truck is cockpit for helicopter. The trailer opens like Optimus' and tail and rotors of copter are hidden inside.

I was stationed in Oceania with VF-101 and then went to Atsugi where VF-154 Black Knights were the last F-14 Squadron in Japan. Even the Japanese fell in love with the Tomcat and were sad to see it go.
I'd buy a Transformers AIRWOLF for a dollar.

They could do the basic car that the General is; a '69 Dodge Charger R/T, but, ditch the Confederate Flag, and put a giant Autobot logo on the roof, instead.

Maverick really feels like Hasbro wanting to get a VF-1 back into the toyline.
Really looks like a VF-1 knockoff. Feels so cheap.
@@johntan4997 I'm sure some of it is just because it's an F-14 and the VF-1 is based on the same airframe, but between the weird weathering (apparently Northrop Grumman insisted on it), some odd plastic choices for tolerances, and that excessive price tag it's just... no.
@@lorcannagle odd choices in design always happen when Hasbro and Takara TOMY have to deal with licensed Alt modes. My first reaction to the stock images was that that made a new Cyberjet mold from G2.
Hasbro could modify the War For Cybertron seeker mold into a Colonial Viper from Battlestar Galactica!

Ordered mine because I'm also a sucker for f-14's. My favorite jet ever!
I don't think Hasbro will lose the opportunity to reepaint/retool this mold into so many of their characters, like all the versions of the Skystriker mold (including Starscream), Gobots Sky-Jack, The G2 Cyberjets.
Hasbro could do a smart move by doing a Jetfire(based on the Toy) and a Skyfire(based on the cartoon).
Probably there will be a 1985 Top-Gun movie repaint, I bet it will be inside a G1 Style box...

This one is an easy (if upsetting) pass. I’d like to see a transformer of the Ninja Turtles Party Wagon though. Or the Munster Koach and Dragula!
Next crossover is 90s cartoon X-Men blackbird transformer called Ultimate X-Spanse. I got gigawatt luckily found one at gamestop.

What a shame! I’ll consider picking this up in the future if it gets a repaint. Definitely liking the GI Joe idea, hope Hasbro considers it. Can you imagine if they make a whole line of transformers based on Joe and Cobra vehicles...could work if they’re designed well.
Spoiler Alert! The Megatron/HISS Tank is so bad.
I hope to see it retooled and recolored to look like Leader-1.
(Yes, I know Leader-1 was a F-15, but this would separate it from all the Seekers.)
(Also, in case it isn't known, Hasbro owns the Gobots property as well now, hence a Crasher figure (Fracture, since the name was lost) and Bug Bite (An interesting read for those who like Transformers/Gobots))
Crossover Transformers are my guilty pleasure, or is it a fetish. Picked him up awhile ago and I love it. I even turned the box into a stand.
Now I want to see this thing painted as a Macross/Robotech jet just because you mentioned it… Come on make it happen 😃
Hey man that's awesome, my pop did 20 in the navy himself, and I too, am a huge fan of f-14's best fighter ever. He was on the Kitty Hawk and the Ranger throughout his career in the 80's. The transformer kinda sucks, but hey, F-14's!

This is how old school collectors of wind up toys and baseball cards reviewed new 1980s Star Wars action figures. Why? Why? For who? Lol this is made for mash up fans of the early 2000s who watched old classic moves like Top Gun, Ghostbusters, Transformers, and Back to the Future with their dads.
Didn't realize Dan was a military brat too, hello from a 1980s army brat who also loves top gun and transformers. OG jetfire and any robotech/macross toys I could get my hands scratched my F14 transforming itch back in the day.
I'm pretty sure this was supposed to release along with the new movie but covid screwed up the timing.
If Hasbro doesn't give us a Griswold Family Truckster transformer we all riot. And it's name HAS to be Gris.

Wow, what a wasted opportunity. This toy needed opaque plastic and sensible use of paint. Someone should be fired for greenlighting this as is. The ko companies will upscale this and give it better materials and paint and it will be a winner.

I can almost guarantee they will at least do a recolor of this figure. Just a month ago I saw online Target is getting an updated Ectotron with a new headsculpt and at least a 2nd translucent ghost. So the hope for making this guy the bot he needs to be
15:35 That thing is FUGLY! I was excited to see it, but once it was done, and seeing the color of the plastic and wonky transformation and overall aesthetic, it was a good idea that fell way short.
I received mine on Friday. I got it for the same reasons, like Top Gun and like Transformers. Had to get it.
I like the idea of the A-Team van, or even the Dukes car. The name and flag aren’t needed just the orange Charger would be enough. Better yet, a line of M.A.S.K transformers (deluxe size or larger) would be awesome. And yes Virginia there is a line of micro masters (all two of them) out there, but something larger with greater detail and even a triple change gimmick to represent the battle mode from the toy line.

I've sat this line out so far but if they make an 89 Batmobile I might succumb. A Turtle Van would also be radical. Heck, why stop at vehicles, let's see what they could do with Bill and Ted's phone booth!
I love the F-14 cos of the Macross Valkyries.
There's a local toy shop here in Austin that had those figures. I saw them and honestly I'm not a fan. Don't like their humanoid look but love their vehicle modes (Ecto-1, Delorean, Tomcat)
This looks more like a prototype. And I agree. Very strange crossover.
The figure looks better here than it did in other reviews I watched. But, I really hate the plastic and the paint job. I'd consider picking another release of the mold up depending on the color scheme. But, I don't regret cancelling my preorder.
Fwiw, it's rare that I'm able to transform a new figure without the instructions. I appreciate a nice simple transformation, but part of what draws me to new releases is the impressive engineering that goes into them.
In Top Gun (2) Maverick, his F14 Tomcat from the first movie is now a gate guard. It’s shown in the Trailer.
Bring on the Party Wagon! They messed up the paint for sure. It should be more cohesive. The helmet is cool. It looks cool as a jet.
I like the design a lot. Would make a pretty cool veritech fighter.
I'll end up keeping mine in the box for sure. I've got the SDCC Joe Crossover sets so he'll go with them on display I think.
F-14 is definitely the best Fighter Plane. The SR-71 is THE best Plane 👍🏻

I bought one and it just arrived. I love the idea of these crossovers but have to say the execution of Gigawatt and Ectotron were better, but I can't help it... It's a Top Gun Transformer!

Transformers heads have ALWAYS been undersized. At least the 1rst Gen ones i used to own.
They should make Airwolf Street Hawk. They wouldn't even have to change the name. They already sound like Transformers names.

That Transformer is made to stay in the package - as good as it looks, in-box, that's how cheap it looks outside. I actually got tense, watching you transform it, thinking it would fall apart in your hands. Minimal effort in its development and painting...total cash-in on Gen-X nostalgia and collectors' need to own 'em all. Call me jaded, but when I realized that orb was a volleyball, I just rolled my eyes. Nice robot head and that's about it. I feel the need, the need to save my money.
I can hear all that. That said... I love it. It would have been my all time favorite toy if it had come out in 1986. I'm going to get a second one and have a friend paint it for me.
I can respect that. If it had been released in '86 I would've been all over it, and I wasn't even a big Top Gun fan (I just loved the Transformer jets). I just wish the craftsmanship matched the truly great concept that it is.
Different versions of the batmobiles would make awesome transformers. Or mabye the turtles party wagon that transforms into metal head. Christine could be a decepticon.

I think the paintjob is supposed to be some variation of the digital-style camo, but it was really half-assed. The bare portions of it make it look cheap, like you said.
Yeah I got this guy too. I haven't opened him or Ectotron yet but I may go ahead and do that. I probably won't be transforming him though.
I bought 2. I'll keep 1 in the packaging and the other to repaint. Then I can buy a low cost F-14 model kit and use the decals from that. Gonna look awesome.
I feel you. These three are just a bundle of nostalgia. I even tracked down the 2018 JP Millenium Falcon to complete the theme.

The designer did a great job then sent it over to the paint and color guy who was drunk off his ass. Cast it in a proper gray and give it an actual paint job and it would be fantastic.

The G2 Cyberjet mold was been remade.
Its funny that this has a legit jet mode and so-so robot when Studio Series Blitzwing was the exact opposite.
I want that SS Blitzwing but refuse to buy it because they didn't go with the actual F4 Phantom alt mode.

Unfortunately they are way too expensive now. I think it’s especially cool that it’s a completely new sculpt, no reused parts. Maybe one day I’ll get a loose one..
