To Sori's disagreement, I believe what's meant is; beneath all the graces in life, no matter how vast or scarce our particular sum of grace is, nothing in life is our own, even life itself is something given to us and thus we are all beggars.

I see Thrice and I clicked immediately. They are such a unique and diverse band! They play punk, rock, jazz, folk, and synthetic styles of music and talk about a wide range of topics in their lyrics. They are truly transcendent! Dustin Kensrue is the lead singer and song writer. He was a pastor in Orange county so he incorporates alot of Christian themes but says the band isn't a Christian band. He has such a beautifully haunting voice.

Dustin's got a real gift for speaking to *everyone* in his lyrics. I'm not a Christian, and I still find so much to relate to in what he writes. Like this song, for example, is a powerful critique of the idea that we live in a meritocracy where everyone gets what they deserve based on how hard they work.

The Beggars album is a Thrice album I haven’t listened to yet but I dug this song. I wasn’t overly impressed with Major/Minor but To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere and Palms definitely brought me back into the fold. Cool reaction
Honestly between beggars and vheissu are they’re best albums honestly highly recommend those two albums

@@ayotrippin Yeah, i hear you but to me Major/Minor is such an outstanding record. I mean, Promises, Blinded, Call it in the air, Trading Paper... And don't get me started on Words in the water (one of the greatest songs in their catalog imho). And this is coming from a guy who has an alchemy index tatoo on his back.
That said, i think the greatness of this band is the fact that everyone can relate to any album or era in a really personal way

3rd album not being an asshole. 1st album-1st Impressions. Look it up n give a listen. Like many bands sounds like it was recorded in a closet with a budget of $1100. Look at them NOW...!

There is no vocalist, I repeat, none within that genre who can make that kind of melodies with his voice when he is screaming.
This is from one of my top ten favorite albums. Great reaction. BTW...from beggars (dust) to grace (eternal) is the song in a nutshell.

Ah, this comment is super late, but I think Sori missed the mark on what makes a Beggar. It's not that we need something that we don't have, but that we're reliant on something that comes from someone else, and that we can't produce on our own. We can't be self-sufficient, because "everything's grace."
It's just a question of interpreting beggar strictly versus poetically.

I kind of expected Thrice’s “The Artist In The Ambulance” would’ve been one of the first songs, but I have to admit I haven’t really listened to anything by them after 2007.
All their best stuff is Vheissu and forward.

I'd suggest listening to more than this one song before you make your mind up about them. I'm sure even your own favorite band has a few songs you don't particularly care for. Hopefully, you give them another listen and remain open-minded. What's better; loving one more thing or hating one more thing?
