    It's howling like "LET ME FLY!"

    My father was a ground crew member in the German Luftwaffe and worked on the Starfighter until he was replaced by the Panavia Tornado......he even made a special paint sheme for the Starfighter, blue with a thin, white stripe in it and the logo of Bavarian, because his airbase was in Bavaria, germany.
    I still love the starfighter and although the newer aircraft like F15E, F22, Su35 or MiG35 are better, the Starfighter always will be a hell of an aircraft! *______*

    I remember seeing this aircraft at a Wings Over Houston airshow back in the late 80's; and actually had a chance to take an up and personal look at it. The leading edges wings weren't "razor sharp" as I was once told, but pretty thin. Still, an awesome plane to see and hear fly when the PRANG was still flying it back in the 70's... until it was replaced with F-4's, then A-7's, and eventually F-16's. Statistically one hell of an aircraft - F-104 Starfighter.

    I used to work on the F-104 in the USAF. There's nothing like the howl of the J-79.

    This looks like the one out at PHX Mesa Gateway. Gorgeous aircraft.

    I do hope he gets it flying as well. Even this run up cost some bucks! I'll bet this is one aircraft that requires complete attention on the ground as well as in the air.

    What kind of maintenance checks were you doing ? Operating flight controls after a hydraulic system air bleed ?

    Did this come out of the EAA museum? I hope so! It was a shame when Combat Jets donated their collection and then they just sat. The Skyhawk is in Illinois, the MiG-15 and 21 are still here and need some love. The Hunter was disassembled and trucked off somewhere hopefully to fly again. One F-86 is still here but "The Huff" went to Canada and received Golden Hawks colors. Hopefully we'll see this Starfighter back in Oshkosh! (This one was the first one I ever saw in the air.)

      jpatt1000 No, this has been privately owned since it was purchased from the RCAF in the late '90's. No plans to give it away to a museum as long as it's flyable.

      Lumenosity Just wondering. It does have the same paint scheme. (CJFM's T-33 was painted the same way as well.)

    great Sound... what is te liquid that it pukes out at shutdown ?

    • @Lumenosity
      @Lumenosity  9 років тому +4

      bobl78 That's a small amount of fuel that spits out of a valve; it's a strange but normal behavior of the engine setup. Doesn't always happen.

    There's a correction I need to make. The PRANG never flew F-4's... this was brought to my attention by a former PRANG aviator. Sorry about that, guys.
