    The ONLY clearcoat that I have found, that dosn't kill the Molotow gloss, is "SPAZ STIX Ultimate Clear Coat airbrush FOR MIRROR CHROME". It is primarilly used for Lexan RC car body's. This product will protect the chrome shine without eating it. I have tried just about every other clearcoat including Future. ALL eat the finish!

      Another clear coat is by E7-color. Their Special S(or5) -02 Chrome sealer. It seems to be an inert clear varnish. Without any solvents. I think Alclad make something similar. What I have found is 1. Any clearcoat with any type of solvent, will ruin a chrome gloss.
      2. Even non-solvent clearcoats can affect Chromes also. Not every Chrome responds the same. No one, single clearcoat, will work successfully with every Chrome. One needs to experiment and see which one works best with your specific Chrome.

      このツリーで記載されたトップコート全て試しました。
      どれも反射は維持できますが輝きは素の状態に比べると若干落ちてしまいます。
      私は以前からタミヤのx-22クリアと同じくタミヤのx-20エナメル溶剤を1:3の割合で希釈してエアブラシで吹きかけています。
      これなら輝きもそのままでトップコートが可能です。

    Thanks for using this on such a large figure! I've seen others review this on 28 mm minis, but it was too small for me to tell if a good result could be achieved with a non-lacquer. I think the key to getting a good shine is probably the surface prep. I know even the guys who use the lacquers will usually sand with grits larger than 2k (sometimes as high as 60k if you can believe that). Nice to know nice results can be achieved on something of this scale. Much appreciated.

    • @JayAdan
      @JayAdan  5 років тому +1

      You can certainly improve the quality of the surface with that kind of prep, but it's not really necessary. The bust had just the original coat of primer that was on the model. Not matte, but not glossy either. The results were still fantastic.

    Excellent markers and chrome finish easily achieved with these. Great for creating "chrome" finish on small model parts as well as touch up of chrome parts on kits & built models. Best for use on parts that will not be handled once they are in place so as not to damage or dull the finish. I don't apply any clear coating to them since I want & need the brightest chrome-like finish when I use these. Also a very good alternative to sending small parts out for plating. I use these on a regular basis with my model making business.

    The Molotow Liquid Chrome has a thin built-in clearcoat that develops once it’s fully cured. It takes several weeks, up to two months to fully cure, then it may take an additional clearcoat without ruining the chrome effect. I have the pens but haven’t yet tested adding a clearcoat after allowing it to fully cure.

    I was looking for a review to use it on paper, but i might use this on some tips or edges on some Warhammer 40K swords maybe.
    If you coat it, as you should always do, it might stay just fine.

    This is excellent up close to the eye for metals like used in swords. I have some of their acrylic paints as they have a shop in Madrid Spain and bought a load, they're thin (to be used in pens) so you don't really need to thin them down. Some nice pinks and electric blues in their range good for painting Tzeetch and Slaanesh for Warhammer ! Vince Ventruella sings the praises of Moltow Liquid Chrome also btw.

    Do you have to clear these because if you wait for it to dry and don't clear it won't your oil from your hands tarnish it like instantly I have used so many different chrome paint pens and after they're dry you still have to wear some gloves or something to handle the item because it will tarnish and turn it a dark gray is that what these do Will they turn dark gray with your fingers touching them

    have you tried coating it with clear epoxy resin? like for example Artresin brand one, its used for protecting paint on sulptures and canvas, it just look like glass. I would love to know if it would work with mlotow liquid chrome. Thanks for the video!

    • @JayAdan
      @JayAdan  5 років тому +2

      I have not tried that. Most of the stuff that I paint has very fine details that would end up getting filled in by something as heavy as epoxy resin. I can see how it might work for other purposes though.

    Hi Jay. After you sprayed metal head with the chrome, how long did you wait to coat it with alclad? I’ve used it on 1:12 scale action figures and I haven’t been able to get the paint to cure.

    • @JayAdan
      @JayAdan  5 років тому +2

      It might be reacting with the plastic in the action figures. You may need to prime them with something that is okay with both the plastic and the paint. To answer your question though.. you can do it after just hours. Maybe a day to be safe.

    • @LifewithBrock
      @LifewithBrock 5 років тому +1
