Southern Argentina looks like Switzerland, Austria, even like Montana, USA, too...It's hard to believe that is South America ! Even the people look of European descent ! What an amazing country, Argentina.
Thanks Linda! Totally agree with you about the landscapes. It is even more rugged the further south you go. We'll be showing more of that in a future series.
We have Even british neighborhoods like Banfield, Temperley and Hurlingham nearby Buenos Aires And towns like Wheelwright in Santa Fe province. There is Also Dutch, German, french people, etc. And not only in southern ARG.
In 1870 the population was 2 million people and until around 1930 5 million immigrants arrived to Argentina mainly from Europe (52% from Italy, 35% from Spain and the rest French, English, German, Ukrainian, Jewish and Lebanese). That's why we look the way we look. My Great Grandfather was an American navy engineer from New York that went to Argentina after the Civil War.
That is something I would definitely love to do! Such great scenery and just such a pleasant looking journey to partake of. Thanks for taking me along with you.
It was a fun journey! We ended up riding a different section of the Old Patagonian Express a few months later, but this route was the best because of the food, museum and artisanal fair at the end. And yes, those sausages were good! Had the line not been so long we would've lined up for a second one. 😉
Very interesting. Lovely scenery. I love to see your interaction with the dogs. What an amazing country. I love trains too. Maybe someday I’ll get the chance to do this trip. I also like the idea of driving a vehicle over long distances. I did a lot of driving in Europe through France Spain and Portugal in particular. It is safe in that Europe mostly. No armed robbers. I would need to check out Argentina before. I watched a lovely Argentinian film called el Camino a La Paz and in the plot the men get robbed somewhere in the pampas I believe. Anyway enjoyed your train trip. Lucky you. Thanks.
Ahhh, very cool! We also enjoy road trips and are toying with the idea of doing a big one later this year. We have rented cars in Argentina before, but only when we're travelling in more rural areas where there is limited bus service and less traffic. I'll have to check out the movie - we haven't seen that one yet!
I vaguely recall watching a documentary years ago about this train journey. It was like ten years ago or something and I think even then the geezer had to be driven between stations where the train no longer ran. Another fine video guys! And the chorizo... damn that looked good! :)
Awesome video guys! There are a lot of old steam trains still operating here in the UK as well 😃 I might take a trip one day 👌 thanks for the inspiration 👍
Thank you very much Brendan! That is so cool to hear. Have you been on some of those in the UK or plan to do so soon? The only train ride we took was from Edinburgh to London and we loved. I think traveling by train is the ultimate way to get around.
@@samuelandaudrey I've never been on a steam train unfortunately but it's certainly on the bucket list 😊. There are certain companies that make the whole trip around the train with champagne, afternoon tea and fine meals 😋
@@samuelandaudrey I know right 👍 prices I think start around £300 person though 😂. For £30 I'll buy you a bottle of plonk, a microwave meal and pull you around on a skateboard 😉
Thanks Ans! Some people in Argentina can speak English but it really helps to learn a bit of basic Spanish before coming here. I'm lucky that Audrey is fluent.

There are some excursions from El Calafate to Cueva de las Manos, check this out: todocalafate.com/perito-moreno/tours-excursiones/ . But I rather recommend you to take a bus from El Calafate to the little town called Perito Moreno (not the glacier), stay there to hire the local excursions, not only to Cueva de las Manos but also to nearby Chilean attractions. Then continue by bus to Esquel or Bariloche where you can take a flight back to Buenos Aires. . To book bus tickets check plataforma10.com.ar

ARGENTINA CRISOL NATIONS
It is way too dry to look like Switzerland or Austria, both countries are lusciously green!
I'm from Central Otago, New Zealand, and the scenery here----felt like I'd come home! Same hills, same brown mountains, same Lombardy poplars....
That is something I would definitely love to do! Such great scenery and just such a pleasant looking journey to partake of. Thanks for taking me along with you.
Thanks Lynn! It is something we'd highly recommend. It feels like traveling back in time.
The one thumbs down is the Polar Express!!😂🚂 Wow what a amazing neat train and the views. This is so neat. 💕💕

Thanks LeAny! I'm so glad we got a chance to wander through the whole train during the stop.
That Theroux novel first peaked my interest in the Patagonia. I just love literary inspiration for travel! Thanks Sam & Audrey
Thanks Rob! He's inspired a few of our trips. We'd still love to do an extensive rail trip across China in the future. How about for you?

It’s an equivalent to a Moonpie! But better.
Yes, they look quite similar to a moonpie, just with more of a caramel spread filling instead of the marshmallow. 😊

It is a bit cheaper now for International travelers but inflation has driven up prices.

You’re not really a train enthusiast!!! Totally ignored the arrival sounds…etc.😮😳🤮🤡👎🏼👎🏼A sad case.
Horrible! This service is especially for well-fed American tourists))
No, actually it isn't as you don't hear as much English spoken as Spanish. It is for mostly domestic tourism actually.
