I'm looking at restoring a 79 Spitfire with a lot of like issues. Really enjoy the info and series!

Knowing what I know now, I'll never weld another floor pan. Panel Bonding adhesive is just so much better and easier to deal with. Weld patches, yes, butt welds, yes, but flange to flange...glue.

Interesting I like to see these old cars made new again. Cant wait to see more progress. The other floor pan looks like swiss cheese LOL =)

Thanks!! And yes, the old floors were toast! Well, as you said, swiss cheese! This car seemed to have sat outside for some time, with water pooling on the floors.

Is it risky to weld that floor in on the rotisserie instead of putting the shell back on the frame first? So the mounting bolts all align?

I think the floor sections are $300 each. Suffice to say for everything needed it will be considerable. Probably will spend more than the car is worth when it's finished. That's the problem with a full restoration. They are rarely cost effective. This isn't a flip though and has a lot of sentimental value and will stay in the family indefinitely. Makes it easier to accept the cost over time
