I'm not a big fan of Chopin's music, but your interpretation makes Chopin's notes alive to me. I really like the way you're playing those tracks. I hear them for many years at every Chopin competition, but your performance is just different than the others. And I want to say thank you for showing me something new in the old music.
His performance is simple but has a unique floating and lyrical feeling that is indescribable. It is truly wonderful. It may not be perfect, but it has its own fascination. His performance is in keeping with the Japanese aesthetic philosophy of wabi-sabi.
Some people play this nocturne in a way that is too ethereal for my taste, but he gets the underlying anxiety that I feel. I love the bit of "bite" in the melody and his articulation is just beautiful, as is the pedal.
Surprised this doesn’t have more views when compared to the others. He’s one of the best out of the 15-20 I’ve been able to listen to coming into stage two. Hopefully it makes it past and onto stage 3!
There is a lot of space and stillness in his playing, his timing is also impeccable. The etudes could use some more precision, but the Nocturne and the Ballade were grand. He has a royal way of playing, very rich tone and good taste. Would like to hear more of this. He makes the Steinway 479 sing like I have not heard so far.
I really love Nocturne D flat major. It touched my soul I'm still listening to it with a cup of coffee near the river. Thank you Chopin. Thank Nguyễn Việt Trung
VIỆT TRUNG NGUYỄN - First round Time Stamp: 00:10 Nokturn Des-dur op. 27 nr 2 / Nocturne in D flat major, Op. 27 No. 2 06:34 Etiuda c-moll op. 10 nr 12 / Etude in C minor, Op. 10 No. 12 09:41 Etiuda a-moll op. 25 nr 4 / Etude in A minor, Op. 25 No. 4 11:54 Ballada f-moll op. 52 / Ballade in F minor, Op. 52
Start with a beautiful night dance, at midnight, or 3 am (Nocturne 2), before starting a great battle (revolutionary etude), rushing cleaning up the battle (paganini etude), take a deep rest after a long battle (Ballade 4)... I like this order :D
I think he listens to Jorg Demus and Sviatoslav Richter on Deustsche Grammophone in the f-minor Ballade a bit more than others in this competition. Not as virtuosic as Richter, but still very good.

He plays beautifully but he should loose that "constipated" look when he plays.
Yeah. A bit overreacting, good feedback though.
DUDE AHAHAH
😁
