MycoWorks: The Making of Reishi™️ Fine Mycelium™️

- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- MycoWorks Co-founders Phil Ross and Sophia Wang, together with CEO Matt Scullin, share the origin story for Reishi™️ Fine Mycelium™️, a new class of made-to-order, natural and non-animal material that offers unprecedented freedom to customize. A work of art, nature and biotechnology, Reishi enables new possibilities for fashion and luxury. Reishi is a breakthrough in material science that meets the world's demand for sustainability, without compromising performance, quality or aesthetics.
“Mycelium is an aspect of the world that has been present for millions of years,” says artist and co-founder of MycoWorks, Phil Ross. “It binds together everything that’s organic that we know about.”
“Like the way carbon can be both graphite and diamond, depending on the process, Phil was able to unlock the nuances of mycelium-to engineer it into something that has higher quality, is more durable and feels more alive.” - Matt Scullin, MycoWorks CEO
“Every step of the process to make Reishi is a carefully choreographed ritual; the body is involved, the hands are involved, decision making is involved. Reishi is the epitome of where you see the excellence in our craft.” - Sophia Wang, MycoWorks co-founder

would love to eventually see a DIY video.
I don't see most of us being able to make it as high of quality as the company, so I don't see a problem with sharing a simplified process with the world
did you find a video of DIY?
This is going somewhere and im happy to be able to watch it
People don’t seem to understand that you guys basically are the Apple of a new era, with Philip Ross being the new Steve Jobs. It’s absolutely thrilling to see what you guys are doing and I hope to collaborate with you all some day soon.
Welli hope not lets not use child slavery to make these shroom leathers. It would defeat the purpose
We need to spread this video all over the internet, a clear profound and emotional explanation of a creative process. This is a totally new material that breaks the boundaries of our paradigm, this is leather, not plastic, not animal, crafted with fungus, which initially only requires water, it's amazing.
That is Beautiful. No need for animal skin for hats, belts, suits, purses and bags. Just wonderful.
Fascinating, I can see so many possibilities for this material. Eventually, I hope to be using Mycoworks products in my own product line.
Incredibly inspiring, bio materials are the future
Where do we purchase it from, post us a Link?
I wonder if this process could be used to grow a skin substitute to use on burn victims. Not as a replacement of course but more in the mind of a more congenial bandage?
I would love to use this in my handbags, the black and the golden, beautiful.
Hello, This is exciting work. I am writing regarding the particular footage used at 3:23, of dynamic luminous mycelia. My basic question is , what am I looking at here? Is it through an electron microscope or ....? The contemporaneous audio is making the metaphorical connection to electricity, but I don't know if the color in the images represents something literal like temperature or is an artistic element. Regardless it's extraordinary footage and if was possible to see more of this, I would like to. X
Very hyped for your next step guys, keep it up!
Could this work for gaming/office chairs and car upholstery?
I would like to invest in this awesome company, where can I do it?
@@mackenziewoods8201 I'd like to be able to make something myself.
I've got land, a few employees with more than forty years experience in upholstry, various tools, experience growing mushrooms, and a strong desire to succeed. Any thoughts?
@@mackenziewoods8201 hmm. I would need to break this down. It's pretty dense. Appreciate your help.
@@jermsbestfriend9296 tell me more please :)
@@mackenziewoods8201 strong explanation 👍

Love ❣️ for all...tnx
What kind of machine can you use to stamp it so that it look like animal leather as well as flexibility
I want to try using this material but nowhere to buy directly…
If its real then just show us the material. Theres a lot of smoke and mirrors going on with this video. Working in the furniture industry I can tell you that I am super excited for mycelium based leather. Please do not be another Theranos.
What type of mushroon that can be used
So, where can I get it?
How do they make it look like leather texture?
It is stamped in .
I wrote to you guys about 4 years ago to no response...was looking at buying some product to trial it... oh well, will have to grow it myself ;)
@@anniinthewoods8287 Seems that way... oh well ;)
Yes me too.
Would love this to be affordable enough that normal folks could buy "leather" goods made out of this stuff
I want to learn too can u teach me Please ??? How can I contact u ??
I wanna learn how to do that!
The contract will go to one of the luxury maisons, they won't be able to make it fast enough. Shame, as some of us were interested before the global players even knew that mushroom leather existed!
Here’s the thing, most people don’t care one way or the other about the craft or any of the other touchy-feely crap. I like the look and feel of leather but I won’t buy leather because of how it’s sourced, I like meat but I only buy from local providers etc.. etc...
So as far as this mushroom leather goes, can it replace current animal sourced leathers (price, durability, &range of products), and if it can then let’s get the word out and make “real” leather obsolete
0:47 Since when Steve Buscemi grew a 'fro, and mushrooms? :-O
I ❤🍄
Keep uploading videos :) please!
Kapable FnC👏
I'm going to grow a boat! Then treehouses places that I happen to drop anchor!
1:00 Leopard leggins? Really? :D
Lmao that's bold
@@neataccount That's how you know that he's a real G. Only real G's can pull off leopard print trousers.
